Kind of blazed through the first half of ME3 today. Saved at the Shroud/Tuchanka mission.
I'm doing the first playthrough with zero DLC. This game is so different without Javik. He's basically necessary for how I like to play. Misery loves company.
When taking the game at it's bare essentials, I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking. Only 4 crewmates for like 15 hours now. And since I saved Ash for this run (who I don't even have yet), that's serious overkill on soldiers. James, Ash, Garrus.. and my own Shep.

(Waves) Well, folks, my Reaper slaying carrier is on hold for a couple of weeks. RO CBT starts tonight, so I will be checking it out before going back to the Renegade Campaign. I've just been playing MP a little in the past few days, even got to play Silver games b/c the group leads will re-queue from Bronze to Silver & I think that after the RO-break, I will start queueing for Silver/Cerberus, since my Vg seems to be able to do that, and I want to get moving on maxing out the silver weapons/mods.
Dumb question: what is "RO CBT" ?
Oh, just another eastern MMO port, a Revelation On-line. Not great, but I made a lapse in judgment & bought into the closed betas for it, so I might as well. It's making me trilingual, seeing it's delivered in an eclectic mix of English, Russian and Chinese. I feel like I am at the negotiation table during the Korean war or something.
I miss Mass Effect.

Today I did an operation to finish all the "anomalies" quests. I admit, there were some I did for the first time today. No idea how that happened, but here it is.

Jen Shepard recovered a Turian Primarch of Manae, along with an old Turian friend.
And then I reloaded an earlier save, went to Eden Prime and unthawed Javik, then recovered the two Turians again, just to see if Javik said anything related to the problem in the AI Core. He didn't.

Today I calculated the Mako's top speed. Using the zoom feature's distance measurer, I marked out a 300 meter area. I then drove from one end to the other, remembering to take a run up to full speed as I crossed into the 300m area. It took 13 seconds. 300m/13s = 23.08ms-1 23.08ms-1 = 51.63mph with +- 8.02% uncertainty.
I also shot Rachni and stuff like that, as well.

Jen Shepard wandered the Citadel like a lost tourist, then met with Dr. Bryson in his office, and then meet with Aria at Dock 42. Then it was off to scan a bunch of planets and raid a Cerberus Lab. Then it was back to the Citadel to return some things she found.
And with that done, Jackie, Erin, Kim, and Jen and ready to continue their journey into ME3. Jackie has gone the furthest (I think she is ready to cure the genophage); the other three are ready to start the war summit.

Soldier FemShep, cont'd:
The next destination for the Normandy was the Artemis Tau cluster. Dr T'Soni was rumoured to be exploring Prothean ruins somewhere in the area, and it was in the Sparta system that contact was lost with Admiral Kahoku's squad of marines.
Sure enough, while scanning the planet Edolus in the Sparta system the Normandy detected an automated distress call, and Shepard, Tali, and Kaidan went planet side to investigate. At the site of the distress call, they saw what looked like an M29 Grizzly tank and some bodies lying on the ground. As they approached they were ambushed by a Thresher Maw. They defeated the beast and confirmed that the dead soldiers were Kahoku's squad of missing marines, and the distress call had deliberately led them to the Thresher's nest. Not only had they lost there lives on this desolate planet, they had been lured there by a cowardly trap. Delivering the news to Admiral Kahoku was going to be unpleasant.
The ground team explored the area, but found no other clues as to who was responsible for the marines' fate. The found some salvage and marked a few mineral deposits for the Alliance. They did make one other unusual discovery, though: the body of a Salarian carrying the ID tag of someone named Captain Milon. It appeared to be unrelated to the attack on the marines - Milon disappeared around the time the Salarians joined the Council (as Shepard learned from an extranet search back on the Normandy). Milon had been one of a number of STG operative tasked with tracking down the League of One, a small, secretive group of spies and assassins that had been hung out to dry by the Salarian government to appease their new Asari allies. Perhaps Milon had tracked one or more members of the League to Edolus and met his match.
The ground team returned to Normandy, so that the search for Dr T'Soni could resume.

Jackie Shepard went to deliver the cure for the genophage. It took longer than expected when a Reaper Destroyer kept dropping Brutes to block her path. (No seriously, I think that was the most Brutes I have ever seen drop in at that last part. I wish I was recording because I would like to know the final Brute count.)
After a bad dream, it was off to Noveria where she liberated some fighters from Cerberus for the Alliance.
Then she went to the Citadel to see the Salarian councilor, and arrived just in time to stop a Cerberus coup, although her Drell boyfriend got stabbed by some nutjob with a sword. After stopping the coup and killing Udina, she stopped by the hospital in time to be with Thane while he died.

Funny.. I saved at Thessia earlier. This is timestamped 20 hours in so far. I've done all the fetchy crap up to this point too.
Without DLC, this game isn't much longer than ME1. I kind of sensed that before, but it's very clear now. The game doesn't have much to it.. and it overuses a handful of characters.

Kim Shepard met with diplomats. Wreav wants the genophage cured, and to do that he wanted some fertile Krogan females extracted from Sur'Kesh. The Salarian Dalatrass was unhappy about it, but she agreed to the arrangement. Cerberus attacked Sur'Kesh, but they made the mistake of attacking when Shepard was there. Shepard made sure they all died and the Krogan female was safe.
Then it was off to Tuchanka to kick Cerberus in the butt again, this time kicking them out of a giant Krogan ground-to-space cannon.
Next, Kim went to go investigate rumors of Rachni. She killed the last Rachni Queen, so more Rachni seemed impossible. But it turns out the Reapers had created their own Rachni breeder. She left it to die. Grunt made sure everyone got out safely.
Cerberus was attacking people on Benning, so Kim went to Benning and attacked Cerberus. Kim won (of course).
Cerberus was also attacking Grissom Academy and taking away some students. So Kim went to Grissom Academy and gave the academy a fresh coat of Cerberus Red paint. Jack helped a little.

Was going to play some more Benjamin. Did one pesky Eclipse mission and suddenly TIM is sending Benjamin to explore a collector ship. Hahaha. No. >:C We don't play that way. But for some good news. Learned how to fix the shadows in ME2. Suddenly there are faces where there were only shadows. Have been using Jacob a lot in Benjamins team and learned that the good stuff is actually kind of good. And slightly horrifying. In a good way.

John Shepard:
3.1 Recruited a krogan called Wrex. He was after Saren for betraying the Shadow Broker.
3.2 Met a fan. First time for everything. His name is Conrad Verner and he wanted my autograph.
3.3 Emily Wong wanted my help investigating corruption on the Citadel. I'm game. Confronted Fist. He told us about a quarian who had evidence about Saren. Once he told us where she was Wrex killed him. Turned some evidence here over to Wong.
3.4 Then we saved the quarian, Tali'Zorah. She had recovered information from a geth that implicated Saren as well as an asari matriarch, Benezia.
3.5 Helped Samesh Bhatia recover the body of his wife, a marine who had served alongside Ash.
3.6 The Council made me a Spectre.
3.7 I wrapped things up by helping Sha'ira with General Septimus and Xeltan. For my troubles she gave me a strange trinket she'd had for years.
3.8 Udina turned command of the Normandy over to me. Didn't know ambassadors had that kind of authority.

I really should have went with the Kaidan Save for this ME3 run (sorry Ash fans). Since I'm not romancing, I feel like Ash has an odd place. While Kaidan (especially Kaidan and Javik) doesn't make me miss Miranda and Jack as much. Not sure how to explain it. It's not just the biotics. Plus, he feels like a better rival for my Shep... Shep is such an ass in ME1 and it's kind of cool to have this big misunderstanding and timegap with Kaidan.

Haven't posted in here for a while, but I have played a bit over the last week Filed under: Personal Who'd have thought? "Archangel" was actually Vakarian, named by Omega's locals. Never thought I'd actually see him again that fast. Either way, he now owes me since I saved him from a couple of merc gangs that got way too close to him, and he is an ally amongst all the Cerberus crew. I trust him to do his job properly. I picked up this Jack person from a prison in space after dealing with an annoying hindrance first... What a psychotic woman. She gave herself access to files I never wanted to give her. But perhaps it's not so bad after all. She said she dug out something on Cerberus. Can't hurt that Cerberus is her enemy, and she is a very strong biotic... But if she disobeys just one more time, she will not stay here on this ship. I think I made myself clear enough to her. Lately I thought about taking care of the problems of Goto and Massani. Clearly these two are too much invested in their issues, and I can't have them distracted. They need to do their job properly. Since we had to stop by the Citadel anyway, I went to Bekenstein with Goto to get back the greybox of her dead lover. She's pathetic. How can you become so attached to someone? You can always only rely on yourself. People like Kasumi are weak. In the end however, I'm glad I did help her get it back, because apparently her former lover stored information on it that could implicate the Alliance. I did not know how severe this information was, but I helped out the Alliance by convincing her to destroy the greybox. It was so simple... I also got a beautiful dress out of it. It might be just the right thing to turn Jacob's knees into jelly. Speaking of which - my plan with him bore fruit. I got under his skin fast and with ease. He's practically eating out of my hand. He's still shy and a little reluctant, but I have no doubts this will soon be a condition of the past. Just like he and Ms. Lawson... I can't help but smile about this progress, and he's a mighty fine specimen of a man as well. We're going to have some fun. Mostly Jacob-related pics I am really content how this all plays out. I knew Neva would be perfect for charming Jacob. I feel really sorry for him, but he'll get his revenge and Neva deserves it Did I mention I love scheming?!It was a dark time for Neva though during fights, because she constantly died Yup yup, Vanguard is fun. AND suicidal. Oh, and I also planned out who will die at the Suicide Mission

The search for Dr T'Soni led the Normandy to Therum in the Knossos system. It was a hellish planet - Tali joked that not even three centuries of homelessness could motivate the Quarians in a place like this, but as Kaidan pointed out that at least it was a "dry heat". Shepard was glad that her crew was getting along so well and keeping their sense of humour, despite the danger.
Speaking of danger, as the ground team made their way towards the Prothean ruins in the Mako, they were ambushed at various times by the Geth, which more or less confirmed the presence of Dr T'Soni on the planet. They just needed to get to her before Saren's forces did.
The tech abilities of Tali and Kaidan helped make short work of Geth, and the team made it to the Prothean ruins and found Liara T'Soni with little trouble. She had activated some ancient Prothean defence system to protect herself from the Geth, but had managed to get herself trapped in the process. She also warned Shepard that a Krogan was leading the Geth forces. Having fought a couple of Krogan bodyguards when taking down fist, Shepard knew how tough they could be. A Battlemaster working for Saren would likely be a challenge.
Shepard freed Liara with the help of a mining laser. On the way out they ran into more Geth led by the Krogan Liara had mentioned, but Tali's AI hacking and Kaidan's biotic abilities helped make short work of them. All of the chaos and explosions wasn't good for the structural integrity of the underground ruins, however, and the whole place started to collapse on their heads. They managed to get Liara out in time, and were extracted by the Normandy.
The crew gathered in the conference room to hear Liara's story. Her research into the Protheans had led her to the conclusion that they were not the first species to colonize the galaxy and then disappear suddenly. She claimed that a cycle of colonization and extinction had been going on for a long time, with galactic civilizations being wiped out at the height of their power every 50 thousand years or so. Shepard told Liara about her encounter with the Prothean beacon on Eden Prime. She had never heard of the Reapers, and was shocked by the revelation. She also seemed impressed by the fact that Shepard survived the encounter with her mind intact.
After the debrief, Shepard updated the Council. They expressed concerns about Liara's loyalties, but Shepard believed the Asari was being genuine. The Geth had been trying to kill her, after all. It could have been part of an elaborate ruse on Saren's part, but Shepard doubted it. She would keep an eye on Liara, but was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt until and unless given a reason not too. The Council also expressed disappointment at the destruction of the Prothean ruins, but agreed that the mission had to come first.

Happy N7 day all! To celebrate i'm wearing my most N7-esque clothes (the tracksuit bottoms are great, found in New Look, fellow UK based ladies/FemSheps) which are basically black with red and white stripes on them. Need a bit of modification in places though. Shepard's Pie for tea...
Also decided to fire up some Mass Effect, you know how it is. So far ran through the last part of Grissom with Jenna The Vanguard, discovered that Cerberus really were after Rodriguez!(and i assumed they just wanted Jack back...).
Then skipped ahead a bit to try to see what happened if Jenna got back with Kaidan rather than stuck with Garrus. I feel a bit sorry for Garrus now...but Kaidan was very sweet. I still prefer Ash as a character. Took Kaidan and James to Gellix, had a weird conversation with Gavin Archer, since I couldn't bear the Hammerhead section in Overlord this time round. I don't think Gavin's a total bastard, just rather easily led. I kind of hope David's dead, better that than left hooked up to that machine and at TIM's mercy. Kaidan and James were pretty freaked out. Alas I got Jenna killed on the roof section, stabbed by a Phantom she was failing to biotic charge for some reason. Silly me, thinking, "wahay! I'm a Vanguard! I'm indestructible!" Probably only indestructible when Toledo Wombat's not in charge...decided to play it safe and use the gun turret on reload.
Onwards to Lesuss and the Ardat Yakshi Monastery with a little more caution. Always great to see Samara, especially with my Biotic FemShep. Now on my fourth visit it's losing the spook factor, and it's just rather sad now. Those asari seem to me more like schoolgirls than mind-sucking fiends, and that Commando leaving her last message for her partner, whom she'd quarrelled with before shipping out? Heartbreaking.
Caught up with the Andromeda hype, it's all rather exciting but i'm really going to miss Shep.

Well, finished my ME3 run (without DLC). That was pretty disappointing. I tried overlooking flaws before, but I can't blame anyone for being pissed off when this came out. lol. It really doesn't do justice to the story up to that point. And it's only a little over half the size of ME2 (I think I clocked around 24 hours).
Tempted to just play Skyrim SE now. But I do plan to play this one more time with DLC. I think I just need a break.

Last night, Kim Shepard: 1. Went to go cure the genophage, even though she did not want to. Luckily, the Salarian Councilor called and gave her a second option. After fighting through Reaper ground forces -- including one seemingly good biotic charge the ended up leading to seemingly way too many Cannibals dropping on top of her -- she made it to the Shroud and convinced Mordin to walk away. So in the end, everyone except the Krogan won. Hurray!
2. Boring nightmare.
3. Hit Cerberus hard at a fighter base on Noveria. Took the fighters as a reward.

Kim Shepard went to go have a meeting with the Salarian Councilor, but ended up stopping a Cerberus coup and shooting Udina. All in a good day's work.
Meanwhile in another universe, Jen Shepard stopped Ceberus from abducting more students from Grissom Academy. Then she met with some diplomats, which somehow ended up with her going to extract some Krogan females from Su'Kesh, which in turn led her to stopping Cerberus from killing the female Krogan. All because the universe conspires to kill members of evil organizations by throwing them in front of Shepard.

Filed under: Personal So Massani has a few issues. To put it mildly. He completely lost it during this mission of his that Cerberus promised him I would help him with. He disobeyed orders, and he's certainly no team player. In the end he accepted my order to save the refinery workers, but he is not stable. Revenge is eating him up. He couldn't let this thing go for 20 years. So weak. Then I went to Korlus with Jacob and Lawson to pick up some krogan warlord that's supposed to know more about the Collectors... Dr. Okeer. Okeer is dead now however, and we are left with his legacy, a tank-bred krogan. For now I've stored it in the cargo hold, as I have not made up my mind yet what to do with him. I don't know how dangerous he is... So he stays inside the tank and no one but me is allowed to touch it. I really don't know what the Illusive Man is thinking. What's with those crazy people? First this madwoman, now a mercenary that is pissed off and a krogan baby in a tank. Granted, the last one wasn't planned or anything, but still. I really can't believe that right now the one I trust most is Vakarian, but that's how it is. Some pics: At the beginning of Zaeed's loyalty mission, you cannot charge. So Shockwave it is. That was an awesome moment! Shepard knocked the guy away and Jacob shot him dead. Haha! Sure, it's a completely sane idea to melee a Pyro Flying through the whole room! Fun times. Hahaaaa! Taking a shortcut with the krogan on Korlus Yes ma'am. Deaths! Deaths galore! But Vanguard is a lot of fun when it works I'm still experimenting on whether I will eventually use the Eviscerator or the Katana. Then I also believe I can pick up the Claymore during the Collector Ship. More experiments ahead! I picked Heavy Charge and I am working on the Passive now The next mission will be Horizon. As usual I look so very forward to this, haha.

Jen Shepard found some Cerberus troops that had taken over a giant Krogan ground-to-space cannon. She took it over and used to destroy a Cerberus cruiser.
Next she investigated reports of Rachni. She found Grunt and lots of Reaper-modified Rachni. She also found the Krogan Queen she had let go on Noveria. The Queen offered to help if she was released and Jen agreed that it was worth the risk. Aralakh Company got wiped out as a result, but at least Grunt made it out in one piece.
Then Jen went and fought Cerberus soldiers on Benning who were attacking civilians. She managed to hold Cerberus off long enough for some civilians to escape.

Today Shep blew up a reaper hiding on Rannoch, but had to do a couple practice runs first. Through quick thinking, wit and charm managed to broker a truce between the Quarians and the Geth but lost a good friend Legion. Sad times. And now for some quiet time at the Citadel. Right now Shep is chilling at Anderson's swanky pad. Maybe take a nap and go out for sushi with Joker.
