I've been umm'ing and ahh'ing about doing that in my current playthrough, given that I left Wrex unrecruited. The thing that puts me off deleting the data is that... it means throwing Eve under the bus in ME3, and she's a particular favourite NPC of mine. On the other hand, it'd give me the opportunity to see the funeral scene.
After this playthrough, I don't intend to play Paragade again, and never intend to play full Renegade, so this is likely my one chance to try things that way. It gives the player the opportunity to have Mordin survive

rewrote the heretics Tali is exiled, but she is loyal everyone survived the suicide mission. Very rare since I usually have at least one death paid a visit to my friend Harbinger. He said to wait for his arrival
I will import this Shepard into ME3

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME2 Insanity: Tali asked for a private meeting with her captain to explain that she'd been recalled to the Migrant Fleet to answer charges of treason. Melody immediately ordered the Normandy to the Vallhallan Threshold to rendezvous with the Fleet. The two of them went aboard the Rayya and were greeted by Captain Kar'Danna. As Tali's captain, Melody was required to serve as her advocate. Melody took an intimidating line in her opening statement, reminding the admirals that if Tali hadn't helped to stop Sovereign, they'd likely all be dead. The charge against Tali related to endangering the Fleet by knowingly supplying her father, Adm Rael'Zorah, with live geth. The research vessel Alarei had gone dark; security forces sent in to investigate had taken heavy losses from geth troops. Melody offered the Normandy's resources to assist in retaking the Alarei; it was decided that she would take a small team, including Tali, to infiltrate the ship and hopefully uncover sufficient evidence for the charges to be dropped. In addition to Tali, Melody selected Zaeed for the infiltration team. Before departing for the Alarei, the squad took some time to speak to some of those present: Veetor'Nara, still traumatized from Freedom's Progress; Kal'Reegar, recovered from the injury he sustained on Haestrom; Adm Han'Gerrel, a war-hawk who proposed Destroying the geth; Adm Daro'Xen, a scientist who wished to bring the geth back under quarian Control; and Adm Zaal'Koris, who believed that war was unjust, seeking a Synthesis in which both quarians and geth could coexist in peace. The fourth admiral, Shala'Raan, had recused herself from the trial due to being a close friend of the Zorah family. Melody's squad found the Alarei crawling with geth. They were aggressive, close-quarters units; troopers and hunters. Melody sniped them where she could, but it proved impossible to prevent some of them from breaking through and flanking the squad; when that happened, Melody engaged her cloak and blasted them right in the face flashlight with her Eviscerator. Combat drones and hacking were also employed. On a couple of occasions, Tali and Zaeed found themselves overwhelmed (at the top of a flight of stairs with nowhere convenient to take cover; and on a landing overlooking the stairs to the bridge), but Melody had their backs. (No player deaths!) Tali found some of the geth parts that she had sent back to her father, confirming that nothing dangerous could have reactivated itself. As they proceeded through the vessel, they found logs that told the story: Tali's assumption that her father had been performing weapon tests were incorrect; Rael had in fact been reassembling the geth parts to reactivate them in order to experiment with live geth, but had lost control of them; they subsequently built additional units and slew the scientists. The squad found Rael's body lying at the bottom of the stairs leading to the bridge. Tali's reaction was predictable; Melody pulled her heartbroken friend into a hug. Rael had left a message for his daughter, urging her to retake the bridge and shut down the geth network. The squad found the bridge guarded by a Prime and its entourage, but Melody had come prepared with a fully-charged Cain. (Total overkill, but I wanted to avoid dying on this mission, and bosh'tet Primes deserve everything they get anyway). The bridge's database contained a log in which Rael took full responsibility for his actions, explicitly stating that Tali had no knowledge of his work. This was the evidence they needed, but Tali implored Melody not to ruin her father's name by revealing it. Returning to the Rayya, the admirals asked Melody to present her findings. She responded by bluntly stating that the trial was a sham; that refusing to take Tali at her word was an insult to a woman who helped to stop Sovereign; that the admirals were using the trial as a proxy for their own disagreements about the geth; and that while there was no evidence to exonerate Tali, none should be necessary. Although shaken by her words, the admirals elected to apply the letter of quarian law, finding Tali guilty and sentencing her to exile. (Please excuse my headcanoning I wanted to see the Intimidate resolution because it's perfectly in-character for Melody; but I also want to see how ME3 plays out with Tali in exile. So I played the scene twice, but kept the save in which the evidence was withheld without using the red dialogue option). Tali departed from the courtroom on cordial terms with the admirals; none of them had taken pleasure in the decision, and Gerrel had voted to acquit; but ultimately the Fleet came before any single person. Captain Danna, however, spoke harshly to Tali. The last quarian voice she heard before leaving the Raaya was that of her former captain ordering her off his ship.

Bought the ME Trilogy on Greenmangaming for 10 bucks, today I rolled Vanguard MaleShep, spacer and sole survivor background. My original playthrough of the trilogy was an Infiltrator Shep with colonist and war hero background, second playthrough was Sentinel FemShep with earthborn and ruthless, so this will be my late foray into the glory of CHARGE once ME2 and ME3 roll about.
I also ended up recruiting Wrex first then Garrus. Oddly, I've never done it in that order and the dialog switch up was unexpected but fresh.

"Oof, and done. No offence to this hospital food, but I'll sure be glad to never have to eat it again after I get out." "Haha, I agree. And I will prepare all your favourite meals once you get out, deal?" "Deal. Alright, shall we continue? So... where were we? Right, we were on the Citadel and ran into Zabaleta. Remember when I called you about him, ma?" "I do. Poor Ernesto. But I hear he's doing better these days, thanks to your advice." "Well, actually it was yours all along, but nice to hear he's doing better. Sounded like he didn't have it easy. It's a wonder he survived all this, being on the Citadel." "Oh, but he wasn't. He got a lot better after some time and actually settled down on Earth. His area was one of the few lucky ones that didn't get wrecked like all the others." "I see. Lucky for him. Anyway, after talking to him I received a call from Hackett. He wanted me to help with a rogue VI on the moon. It had taken over an Alliance training ground, but we successfully disabled it... her." "Her? What?" "Uh, nothing, mom. We'll get there eventually. After that we made our way to Feros. There were reports of geth attacking a colony, Zhu's Hope, so I hoped I wasn't too late. The colonists had mostly survived so far, but the geth just wouldn't cease their attacks. We did what we could to help them back on their feet, like getting some power cells, food, running water. I destroyed a geth transmitter too. No one knew why the geth were there, until we headed over to the nearby ExoGeni building and found out that ExoGeni recently discovered an alien plant below the colony. It had mind control abilities and ExoGeni used the affected colonists as a control group to study its effects. No wonder they were all acting a little strange." "What?! That's terrible..." "I know. That's why we had to stop it. I've never seen such a weird creature before, up to this point at least. It was huge and very unique. When we killed it, an asari was released from a nearby node. Shiala. She told us all about Saren, Benezia and the giant ship... the Reaper, Sovereign. Benezia had tried to correct Saren's path, but since Reapers can indoctrinate... well, you know what happened to her. And Saren. It was mindblowing to hear about such an ability, shortly after learning the Thorian had similar abilities and seeing its effects. Just... indoctrination was way worse. The Thorian had just acted in self-defense." "It did?" "Yeah. It used its spores on the colonists to keep itself hidden. Shiala told us that Saren was after the Thorian for the so-called Cipher, a means to make sense of the prothean vision both he and I had received. He sent the geth to eliminate the thorian after Shiala had obtained and transfered it to him. I saw my chance and urged Shiala to give it to me as well, but the vision wasn't any clearer, not even after Liara tried to make sense of it when we were back on the Normandy again. So, Shiala ended up making amends with the colonists and stayed and helped them, and we were back to square one. But I had a couple of other things I wanted to check out anyway. ExoGeni was involved in something fishy, and so were the geth, according to some evidence at the ExoGeni building. And then there was Admiral Kahoku's Cerberus story... But let's take a short break here. Do you mind helping me up? I really need to take a leak." "Sure, anything for you, honey." Pics: Right back at you, mom! Yeees, finally I didn't shoot Jeong. Upped my Intimidate with the help of a few side missions and could use it on him this time. To the Thorian! Question time with Shiala Interesting how flirty Ash is even when I never delve into her personal history. Jesse now has the Bastion Specialization, and now I can damage enemies in Stasis I love it! I was also pleasantly surprised to see that he has Marksman. I didn't know that was hidden in the Sentinel passive. Pretty awesome, and I'm making good use of it, hehe. Still a few deaths here and there though, but the Sentinel in general is a power house with a lot of amazing talents I don't know how people can pick a favourite class, they are all so great! I have a lot of trouble with picking one and probably never will have a favourite class thanks to this

Garrus showed up to help out, but not before stopping to admire Shepard's outfit I was also admiring Laura's outfit, that N7 jacket looks very nice. Is it from a mod, DLC or special edition of the game? It's this mod. I think I installed the "fugly dress removal only" version, which gives you some additional casual wear options and replaces the Citadel dress with the ME2 version from Kasumi's DLC. Joker was able to get away safely, but before Shepard could follow with Brooks, the gunmen shot the restaurant's fishtank floor out from under her, and she fell through. I always cringe at this because I always think of the bits and pieces of glass, metal and other stuff Shep was zipping through in her civvies, arms bare. I always go "ow, ow" for her. I know, right? And she's in such great shape after she finally lands I guess the single health bar is supposed to represent all the shards of glass slicing her up, the broken bones, the bruises... Still though, what a trooper! Remember when I called you about him, ma?" <snip> I love how you do these in dialogue format with Shepard's mom

Dumb question...who was the David Gaider of MET, if there was one? Between this trilogy and the DA trilogy, I keep wondering whether problems are the result of "too many cooks..." or a lead writer being overruled or replaced. Drew was lead writer for ME1 and ME2 until he left. Mac Walters took over as lead writer. If given more time for ME3, would the writing have been different? No idea since that time has come and gone. All I know is the ending to ME3, with the extended cut, left a lot of questions unanswered. The one question I like to ask Casey Hudson, when he was working on ME1, if the ending to the trilogy and Shepard's story is what he had in mind? Interesting. I was taken by surprise by the ending and the revelation of the Catylyst as an ancient AI that directed the Reapers to annihilate the most advanced civilizations every 50,000 years to maintain a balance between organic and synthetic life forms. OTOH, you do have some foreshadowing in both ME1 & 2. In ME1, the training VI (or AI) that ultimately becomes EDI runs amok and kills a bunch of marine trainees. In ME 2, you have colorless mechs suddenly turning on humans seemingly of their own volition. I suppose this was the general direction of the trilogy though different writers would've handled the end differently in terms of specifics. I'm surprised there were no interviews regarding the subject. We at least have some interviews with Gaider indicating what was going on behind the scenes at DA and that he had his creative differences. One final question on the ME 3 ending: what happens to all the people on the Citadel? Massacred?

One final question on the ME 3 ending: what happens to all the people on the Citadel? Massacred? Drew once posted in his blog that there were only ending ideas floating around when he was still working on ME, but they never had anything concrete planned out. He also mentioned how tough it is to do so because things are changing constantly, so I guess that's one reason they didn't start out with an ending in mind. Patrick Weekes was interviewed by a fan during a convention, and there he stated that we can assume all the important people survived thanks to emergency shelters

One final question on the ME 3 ending: what happens to all the people on the Citadel? Massacred?I don't remember it being specified. I would think a space station that important to civilization would have backup life support systems (see the "breath scene"), even if artificial gravity is lost. I would expect there to be escape pods and/or lifeboats as well, so at least in high EMS endings, I would think at least some people made it off and were picked up by military ships. Even so, the big problem for survivors around Earth would be the sudden influx of millions of organics who all need to be fed, and with no relays working, supplies probably can't be brought in. So as cruel as it sounds, the fact that many people on the Citadel probably died just means that any supplies that can be salvaged will go farther than they would have otherwise. Edit: totally ninja'ed by themikefest and a real answer. But at least my guess was kind of correct.

The bigger problem post-war would be how to feed the quarians and turians who were trapped there. I'm sure some dextro food would be around but probably not that much. Certainly couldn't have been a priority. They'd just have whatever rations they brought with them. They would definitely suffer. Of course, we saw bodies on the Citadel that the Keepers were "recycling". Though I believe it's probable they've always recycled the dead (based on Thane's LM while talking to Bailey about "duct rats"), I suspect something more sinister was going on when Anderson and Shepard made it to the beam. And, an unrelated comment for fraggle : I can't help but notice Shiala looks pink in one of your pics. Is that just some weird lighting effect?

Rather than have a struggle with the justicar, Shep agreed to find the name of the ship. Along the way, Shep pulled a fast one on Elnora as she was suited up in the sisterhood armor. On hearing her audio log later and learning she had murdered Pitne For's associate, there was no regret for firing first. Came upon a biotic god further into the base. Not to waste time arguing with the drugged volus, Shep hit the beachball's air supply to get it recycling. That woke him up a bit and he staggered off to sleep off the drug. It's always a pleasure to go up against a asari mercenary captain. Nothing like hitting her butt with a singularity. Samara was pleased with the result and pledged herself to aid Shep. Also handed in evidence about Elnora and Pitne For to detective Anaya who was glad she would have stories to tell her grandkids. Off to get an assassin next.

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Zorya: In the spirit of following the advice Sha'ira gave me in a message, I'm going to help Zaeed out with his request. Her specific words were: "Take whatever steps you must to ensure that those battling at your side fight with clear minds and glad hearts." I suppose I'll have to do the same with whatever Garrus, Miranda, Jacob and Mordin come up with, as well as whoever else I recruit. In this case it means going to Zorya. It was only after touching down that Zaeed mentioned that he had co-founded the Blue Suns and wished to take down his former partner who had ousted him years ago after trying to kill him. Which was fine. For the most part, the only good merc is a dead merc, and these guys are nothing more than criminals who give the pretense of obeying any sort of law. Or maybe they're just to big to take down. Gotta say that I do love one upgrade Cerberus gave to me. I was an L3 when I died but an L5 after my reconstruction. The difference is phenomenal. The biotic charge alone is worth it. I could never do anything like that before. - The problem came when we reached the refinery where his old partner was holed up. Lots of innocent workers were within and Zaeed was willing to see them all dead in order to get his revenge. I wasn't having it. His rash actions meant I would not be focusing on getting Vido but instead on rescuing the workers who were trapped inside. It might cost me Zaeed's loyalty but...well, he's a merc. You know what I think of mercs. I kind of pissed me off, too. If I'm being honest, I would have loved to take down this Vido. But not at the expense of the refinery workers. Despite Vido getting away, Zaeed did agree that teamwork was going to be necessary if our mission was to be successful. Of course, he said that while trapped under burning debris and my gun at his head, but that's what his type responds to. Now he and Kasumi were both wearing the red outfits that said they were mine. - Zeona: Touched down with Miranda and Kasumi to investigate the MSV Rosalie. In the wreckage I found a fully intact M-44 Hammerhead hovercraft. Also, Miranda and Kasumi are apparently dead because...no airtight suits. Whatever. Anyway, I'm no better at driving this than the Mako. I wish these people would design better controls. Anyway. we picked up some research. From the dirt. Or something. I don't know but apparently Miranda thought Cerberus would find it important. Or something. I'm confused, to be honest. "I went to Zeona and all I got was this shitty Hammerhead." - Neith: Found the wreckage of a freighter. Said it was the MSV Corsica and its cargo - LOKI and YMIR mechs - came from Jarrahe Station. These were the mechs that I'd lately fought. Still suspicious of Reaper involvement. Now wondering if the mechs are responsible though I haven't seen any. Then a security report said the mechs had activated in the cargo bay and started self-destructing. Fingers-crossed that they were all destroyed in the crash. Turned off the beacon signal and, surprise, the mechs activated and started attacking! I could only surmise that they had set the beacon to lure people in. Like I said, this suggested Reapers, because why else would they want people dead. In any case, I destroyed a lot of them before making my way to the shuttle and back to the Normandy. Good thing about fighting mechs is that there's no need to hold back. Nothing like a biotic charge to shred them to bits! - Jarrahe Station: This is where those mechs came from so I investigated with my former security officer (Garrus) and a master thief (Kasumi). First thing I noticed was the broken windows and blood smears. Second, I noticed Kasumi was dead because of her lack of body armor. A PDA suggested there was a problem with the station's VI. Failing to be shocked. It's Luna Base all over again. Another one mentioned that the MSV Corsica had brought mech parts from Hahne-Kadar facility on Capek. Seemed the likely source of infection here. The VI is actively trying to convince me to leave, both with words and actions. In one case, I locked me in the living quarters and suggested I set the self-destruct sequence to avoid death by starvation. I outsmarted it. It also tried to upload its programming to the Normandy when I got to the mainframe. The VI's image looked just like that of Mira from Peak 15 but Mira was helpful rather than deadly. In any case, I shut the VI down so that Jarrahe could be recovered. - Korlus: "In Search of..." a krogan warlord named Okeer. I loved Wrex something fierce but I don't know how I feel about a warlord. I knew Wrex's story. I knew he wanted better than most krogan for his people. Okeer, though...I was wary. I needed tough people with me. That meant Garrus and Zaeed at this point. People who would take no prisoners if it came to that. First, we heard an unpleasant voice screeching commands over a loudspeaker. Second, we saw Blue Suns. That should make Zaeed happy. Then we can upon a wounded merc who thought he was bleeding out. What we learned was the Okeer was brewing krogan in vats but that they were all insane. The Blue Suns were hired to take them out, presumably to find out if the krogan had any worth. Then we met one of the krogan. He wanted to talk. Said he was seven days old but was fully grown. He said he was bred for a purpose but was deemed a failure before being released from the tank. It then pointed us in the direction of the lab where we could find Okeer. None of the rest of the krogan was so friendly, all suffering from blood rage and probably not even knowing why. The best part is how even Jedore realizes how ridiculous it is that three guys are taking her army of mercs apart. There's a difference between hired mercs and the best of the best. A big difference. - Then I found Okeer. He was standing next to a krogan in a tank. He told me he approved of destroying Saren's genophage cure. Also, that he created a single "pure" krogan that would ignore the genophage. Not sure what that meant. However, once Jedore said she was going to flush the tanks he asked us to kill her. Not a problem. Turns out the tech necessary to create this krogan came from the Collectors. I guess that was where his use came in. After defeating her, we returned to the room. Okeer vented the gases that would have killed the tank-bred krogan into the room in order to save it. He sacrificed himself to save this perfect krogan. Well, it was better than nothing. We took it back with us to the Normandy. Normandy: Miranda thought I should throw the pod out the airlock. I said it was a waste of a resource. Honestly, I wanted to find out what was inside. A pure krogan sounded like it might be something worthwhile to have at my side. I ignored her advice and went right down to Port Cargo. EDI advised against me unlocking it. Ignored her, too. First thing he did on release was charge and slam me against the wall. Then he asked for a name: his, as it turned out, not mine. He chose "Grunt" because it was one of the last things Okeer said to him and was virtually meaningless. I talked him into joining my crew, mainly by saying I had worthy adversaries for him to fight. What got his respect was when he noticed that the whole time I had my pistol aimed at his gut. Some upgrades I got: a krogan shotgun, a Thanix Cannon (powerful enough to destroy a Collector ship with a few hits), an Argus Planet Scanner, Silaris Armor and a special omni-tool for Mordin (I remember the days of looking for the best of those with my old squad).

Laura Shepard, Colonist, Sole Survivor Back at the apartment, Garrus helped Shepard apply medi-gel to what had to be numerous injuries, while Joker set about gathering any crew who were willing to help. Shepard was touched, and a little surprised, by how many people showed up. They began to hatch a plan: there was to be a charity event at the casino, run by the man suspected to be connected to the attacks, and they had managed to acquire three tickets. Shepard, Garrus, and Brooks prepared to go. At the event, Shepard got to put her electronics skills to good use. Brooks even mumbled something about all the shooting distracting her from the fact that Shepard is an engineer. Too bad for everyone involved that Shepard didn't think to leave Brooks behind and do this all herself. Shepard and Garrus turned heads at the event, according to Garrus in typical self-deprecating fashion. Shepard figured it was her spastic dancing more than anything else. Lots of illicit activities later, Shepard, Garrus, and Brooks made it to Evil Man's office, where Shepard half expected him to swivel around in his chair, petting a white cat. He was too dead to swivel, unfortunately. They hightailed it out of there and met everyone back at the apartment. Their next lead was going to send them to the archives, where the attackers were looking for...something. Shepard headed upstairs to change into her armor, coming face-to-navel with a pizza delivery volus who expected prompt payment. When James made no move to pay for his pizza, Shepard obliged, but took three slices for herself. The whole crew went to the archives, split into two teams. Shepard kept Garrus and Ashley with her. They were not kept in suspense for long: Shepard's nemesis was revealed to be... Shepard. This fact was greatly confusing to Glyph. You know, the Shadow Broker's digital assistant. I think you need smarter help, Liara. It came as no surprise to Shepard when Brooks turned out to be the mastermind behind the whole thing, however. That's just how Shepard's life goes. After a harrowing chase, blatant identity theft, and lots of trash talk, Brooks and Shepard Beta managed to trap the crew into archive vaults so that Beta could steal the Normandy unhindered. Glyph floated his little derpy self around the vaults freeing everyone. Here's the crew looking like sad, abandoned puppies when Shepard chose Garrus and Liara to ride in the taxi with her. After fighting off waves of goons, Shepard, Garrus, and Liara made it to the hatch of the Normandy, only to find an angry Traynor waiting with her expensive toothbrush, apparently having been given a dishonorable discharge by Beta. Shepard, barely restraining from rolling her eyes, reminded Traynor that she couldn't give anyone a dishonorable discharge without a trial and probably mountains of paperwork. Traynor calmed down enough to use her ridiculous toothbrush and its tiny mass effect fields to break into the Normandy. A few of the crew flew in front of the Normandy to prevent it from reaching FTL, while the Normandy, piloted by people who obviously didn't accept Beta as the real Shepard (but who apparently didn't care), made a mess of the buildings in its wake. Fighting Beta this time around was much easier, as her shields came down fairly easily between Shepard's attacks and Garrus's, plus the arc pistol packs quite a punch. Poor clone. The fight ended with both Shepard and Beta hanging from the shuttle bay door. Garrus and Liara didn't hesitate for a moment to run to the real Shepard and pull her up. Beta, already angry and lost at having no identity of her own, saw this and all the fight left in her evaporated. Brooks was content to ignore her plight, but Shepard couldn't. Since coming back to life, she'd never been certain herself that she was really Shepard. She might have been a clone as well, or an AI, with all of the real Shepard's memories downloaded. That possibility wasn't any harder for Shepard to believe than the idea that Cerberus had managed to bring her very dead body back to life. She could just as easily have ended up like Beta: created for spare parts, used and then disposed of. She reached out for Beta, offering the clone her life. Beta couldn't take it, and fell to her death. Joker and Cortez docked the taxi in the shuttle bay and helped get rid of the goons and detain Brooks. Shepard paragoned Brooks into giving up on her escape attempt, and she was shipped off to the Alliance. The Normandy was returned to drydock to continue repairs, and Shepard vowed to enjoy the rest of her shore leave...after reclaiming her identity, explaining the entire mess to Hackett and to C-Sec, and probably filling out mountains of paperwork. Next time, Shepard spends quality time with her crew, goes on a date with Garrus, throws a party, and looks at the Silversun Strip for the last time (at least as far as she believes).

So today I took Javik with me to Thessia for the first time. I really can't believe I did not do this before. I gained new appreciation for him, I really thought he was just an a-hole but there is so much more to him - he definitely knows how to motivate people when he needs to. But I never really noticed that the ancient drawings and statues of Athame showed her to be Prothean. Now that Javik pointed it out I can't believe I never noticed it on my own! And Liara was in full on denial mode! For the first time since my 2012 I actually went through all the temple items instead of straight to the plot triggers just to see what Javik's comments were on each and Liara's constant denials. The subsequent argument in Port Cargo room was also a first for me.
I mentioned this in another thread but this mission also revealed to me how each race's selfishness contributed to situation. The Asari had Vendetta and its associated beacon and kept the information for themselves, the batarians had a reaper corpse they hid and denied all knowledge of, Cerberus and Turians got prime Sovereign salvage and used it for their own benefit. Shepard may have not had proof of the reaper invasion, but if all that info was combined it would have painted a very clear picture. I feel the secrecy/selfishness theme was not explored enough. It was way to obvious to not dedicate a few shepard dialogue lines towards it.

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME2 Insanity: Melody went down to the engine room to check on Tali, finding her quarian friend in surprisingly good spirits, all things considered. She then ordered the Normandy to the Crescent Nebula. After a quick stopover at Nos Astra to purchase newly-available upgrades and assist Liara in exposing a Shadow Broker agent, the Normandy departed to explore the rest of the nebula. Scans of the planet Helyme revealed signals matching Eclipse protocols. The point of origin was a mining facility; Melody took an infiltration team comprising herself, Garrus and Thane. The Eclipse band that was occupying the facility found itself completely outmatched by the three snipers; the Normandy squad eliminated the mercs in very short order, obtaining information about a missing freighter from the facility's mainframe. (No player or squad deaths, and an amusing moment when I lined up a sniper headshot only to have it "stolen" by one of the squad. Bet it was Garrus The music in the battle at the end is one of my favourite tracks, it's the same as the music that accompanies the Firewalker mission on the frozen planet). Next was a trip to Tarith to shut down a Blood Pack comms relay. Melody chose Jack (for Squad Warp Ammo) and Mordin for this mission. The landing zone was covered in thick chlorine smog, concealing dragon-cum-bug monstrosities called klixen. They liked to rush the party, so Melody dealt with them using cloaked Eviscerator shots, her shields absorbing the brunt of their post-mortem explosions. Ascending through the smog, lighting beacons as they went, the team encountered local boss Salamul, a krogan battlemaster, and his vorcha personal guard. Melody switched to the Viper to deal with these incompetents, then shut down the comms relay, returning to the Normandy with details of another Blood Pack base in the Shrike Abyssal. (No player deaths; Jack dropped when she decided to go toe-to-toe with Salamul). Garrus and Thane both requested assistance with personal matters on the Citadel, so Melody ordered the Normandy to the Serpent Nebula. She took a shuttle to Zakera Ward with Garrus and Tali. Before heading to the warehouse where Garrus had arranged to meet someone, she collected the second package for Ish the information broker, and intervened in an altercation between quarian pilgrim Lia'Vael, a volus who had accused her of theft, and a racist C-Sec officer. Melody gave the volus and the cop a piece of her mind. Garrus had arranged to meet "Fade", an individual who specialized in obtaining false identities for criminals, and who had helped Sidonis, Garrus' former friend who had betrayed the Archangel team. "Fade" had sent a volus in his place, along with two krogan mercs. The krogan proved to be total jokers; Melody and Garrus shot them before they could even react. The volus let slip that "Fade" was dirty cop Harkin, now with the Blue Suns, and whom Melody had the "pleasure" of meeting two years previously. Harkin was working out of a factory deep in the Ward, so the party took a taxi there and infiltrated the place. The Blue Suns on duty were not especially competent; the three had no difficulty in neutralizing them and their LOKI mechs; Tali's talents in particular proved most effective. Things only got tricky when Harkin sicced two YMIRs on them simultaneously, but the squad made it through after a tough fight. (One player death; Cain was only 83% charged so had to break them the hard way. Shouldn't have wasted a shot on that Prime last time That was my only death in this mission, though Garrus and Tali both dropped a couple of times). Before they confronted Harkin, Melody and Garrus had spoken about how to approach the situation. Melody had no problem with Garrus taking the law into his own hands, but she was still a little shocked at the brutality of his interrogation. Still, she stood by and let him do what he had to. Harkin set up a meeting with Sidonis; Garrus left him with a hole in his knee. The meeting with Sidonis was in a busy public area of the Ward. Melody agreed that she would keep him distracted while Garrus lined up a clean shot from a distance. When the moment came, Melody stepped aside and Garrus dispensed summary justice.

Even though the whole episode was done tongue in cheek, especially after Clone Shep makes her appearance, I actually found that boss fight to be one of the hardest in ME 3. (I also found the ambient dialogue among the mercs that they were just cannon fodder to be funny.)

The only one I found harder was Armax Arsenal Arena Mirror Match, but it's not really surprising

One final question on the ME 3 ending: what happens to all the people on the Citadel? Massacred? Many thanks! Loved the nerd convention! (Yes, I resemble that remark...) Loredana leads the Normandy to Feros after stabilizing the situation in Noveria. Initial reports indicated a human colony under Geth attack. But upon meeting the Zhu's Hope colonists, they found something more was going on here. All the colonists were too quick to defer to the colony's leader, Fai Dan. Some even seemed to suffer pain whenever they were about to say something someone didn't want them to say? A cult? Or something worse? After clearing the immediate area around the colony and the docks, they headed to Exogeni Headquarters. Exogeni was the backer of the colony and also a leading scientific research corporation. Most of the geth were in the HQ building. Perhaps answers were there... Shepard and her team appropriate a functional Mako and battle down the highway and head toward the HQ building. There, in the offices, they find evidence of unethical research using a strange sentient plant called a Thorian whose spores could make nearby creatures act on its behalf - a form of mind control. Was this how Saren controlled Benezia? After destroying the Geth mothership that had latched on to the Headquarters building, they head back to the colony where the colonists are now trying to attack the Normandy. After conferring with some surviving Exogeni scientists, they decide to use knock-out grenades to render the mind-controlled colonists unconscious so they can go after the Thorian, which they find is located underneath the colony. All goes according to plan until they reach the Thorian, which was massive, ancient, and protected by husk like creatures and clones of an asari commando. After killing numerous creepers and clones, they find the Thorian's vulnerable spots and kill it. Out of the wreckage emerges an asari commando named Shiala from whom the clones were formed. Formerly a servant of Benezia, she explains how Benezia came to be indoctrinated and how Saren was able to get the "Cipher" from the Thorian, which imparts knowledge and understanding about the Protheans. Shiala is able to impart the Cipher on Shepard. With the help of Liara's mind meld, the images Shepard got from the beacon now begin to make sense. Also completed numerous side missions. Still mulling Kaidan versus Ashley at Virmire. Ashley seems to have a richer backstory which she will talk to you about regardless of whether you romance her. Kaidan less so. Basically just got the story about "Brain Camp" and the turian instructor he killed. Is that it? I've saved Ashely previously and wanted to save Kaiden this time; does his story get more interesting in later games?

(I also found the ambient dialogue among the mercs that they were just cannon fodder to be funny.) Oh, it was definitely still a hard fight, and Shepard's shields came down as easily as Beta's when faced with another engineer, it was just much easier than it was the first time. The first time it took AGES to bring her down, and I was really dreading having to face her again. Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME2 Insanity: Prior to departing for the Serpent Nebula, Thane had spoken with Melody about his troubled relationship with his now-estranged son Kolyat, his parenting mistakes a constant source of pain due to his eidetic memory. He had learned that Kolyat had accepted an assassination job on the Citadel; he wished to find his son before the job went down and prevent him from following in his father's footsteps. Melody and Thane met with Mouse, one of Thane's old contacts on the Citadel. Mouse was scared to talk, but Melody reassured him that he was under their protection and that no-one would know that they'd spoken to him. He namedropped crime boss Elias Kelham as the person who had hired Kolyat. Before departing, Melody requested a copy of the "Shepard VI" that Mouse had been selling on the grey market, assuring him that he wasn't in trouble for distributing software using her image. The duo asked Captain Bailey for assistance with locating Kelham. Unfortunately, Bailey was in Kelham's pocket and was reluctant to bring him in officially; nevertheless, he agreed to turn him over to the team for a private interrogation. Melody suggested that Thane play "good cop" while she applied interrogation techniques that would make Garrus proud. Before lapsing into unconsciousness, Kelham revealed that he'd hired Kolyat to kill the atypically-named turian Joran Talid, a corrupt, racist hypocrite of a politician. Melody and Thane tailed Talid through the downtown wards, observing as he chatted with the electorate while his krogan minder extracted "campaign contributions" from human-owned businesses. (I messed this part up during my previous playthrough, so used a video walkthrough this time). Following him to his apartment, they found Kolyat lying in wait; the young drell shot Talid's bodyguards before pointing his pistol at his mark. Bailey arrived with C-Sec, and there seemed no way of resolving the standoff without Kolyat or Talid dying... ...and, indeed, there wasn't: Melody did the voters a favour and executed Talid. Kolyat reacted with repulsion; clearly not cut out for the job of an assassin. Despite having witnessed a murder, Bailey readily agreed to look the other way. Kolyat still had to answer for wounding Talid's bodyguards, but Melody convinced him to arrange for the sentence to be commuted. Thane was able to begin the healing process by spending a few precious minutes with his son before Kolyat was taken into custody. Before leaving the Citadel, Melody helped two asari who had been incorrectly added to a no-fly list, blaming the human-led Council's security policies. She sensed that they weren't genuinely racist against humans, just frustrated, so she spoke to the C-Sec immigration officer and got the problem sorted out. After a brief stopover at Omega to deliver the packages to information broker Ish, Melody ordered the Normandy to the Shrike Abyssal to deal with the Blood Pack base that she had learned about when she deactivated the comms relay. She passed the flight time by hanging out with her friends. Garrus, in particular, seemed like a different man with the Sidonis episode behind him. After arriving at the planet Ze Ban, she took a shuttle to the surface with Mordin and Thane (wanted to try out that Squad Shredder Ammo). The base was a weapons manufacturing plant, mostly staffed by crazier-than-usual vorcha. The squad dealt with most of them from a nice, safe distance (because I died twice while doing silly things at close quarters, trying for some mêlée+shotgun kills for the Brawler achievement). The local boss was a krogan warrior, Kalusk, who proved to be less trouble than his insane underlings. With the Blood Pack neutralized, the team blew the containment system on the base's reactor and made a speedy retreat before the whole place collapsed. Thane's loyalty mission is an interesting one for a Paragade, given the variety of characters that Shepard gets to interact with. I didn't get the scene with the stock boy immediately prior to the apartment scene (he just stood there motionless and the cutscene didn't trigger) but I'd have have taken the Paragon option there, as with Mouse.

Played ME3 up to deciding the fate of the g and q. If you remember from my ME2 playthrough, Tali was exiled and I rewrote the geth. I wasn't able to get peace. I wasn't surprised. You can rewrite the geth, but Tali has to be loyal, and not exiled.
I ended up choosing the quarians.

Tali is loyal but exiled in my current playthrough, and I'm aiming for geth/quarian peace in ME3 so I'll be destroying the heretics (which I was going to do anyway).
