Wow in the end I bought it the Deluxe edition for 48.99€, it was too good to let it pass so I decided to buy it. I guess I was lucky and not a moment too soon it seems. I wonder if it was a flash-sale or an error on the Origin store. In any case I'll keep checking they are going to charge the amount that was displayed when I bought the game (so far they are doing that).

Not any longer, as far as I can see. I'm in Russia, and I could see the discount couple of hours ago, but now I only see the full price. A friend of mine had suggested that this 'sale' had actually been a mistake\bug. Or (may be) it's been a super-short sale (Less ~12 hours? Weird). It's the same deal in Australia, picked it up at 30% off but it's no longer on sale. Pretty sure it was a mistake.

So if it is an error what is EA going to do? Because if I have to pay full price I will cancel my pre-orders. So how is the law in this regard?

I suppose they could refund everyone who bought it, but would they want to do that?

Hope so, though I have slept through the whole of it, and the bug did not occur in Canada anyway.

Well isn't this fantastic. I preordered back when it became available. Silly me for supporting the company huh. I just cancelled my older one and got a cheaper one That works? Huh... cool Too lazy to bother anyway, but thanks for the idea Now moving on to the idiots commenting in this section. Having a philosophical debate on the significance and meaning of "pre-ordering" is more or less relevant, but eh, knock your socks off doing it if it tickles your fancy. However, what is moronic, is dismissing and being condescending to people who are pre-ordering, while under the delusion you are somehow better or "cooler" because you aren't pre-ordering. Aside from the factual benefits to pre-orders, there's this thing where you don't shit in other people's likes and dislikes, because that doesn't make you cool dear, it only makes you an ass. I could go on and in more detail as to why that view point is moronic, but who cares. Besides, people who might have a use out of it are too dumb anyway to get it, and too fiercely entrenched in validating and defending their own view point to be able to have a rational discussion. This is a bit of a rant because it just gets irritating seeing all the silly comments about "how stupid it is to pre-order". It's like hearing those idiots who are against gay marriage flapping their mouths over and over... like... idiot person, if you don't like gay marriage, don't get gay married. Is that simple. Same with pre-order haha.... If you don't like it or it's against your stupid religion, don't pre-order. But when you start yapping about how people who pre-order are stupid, you are all of a sudden a little shit. So, kindly f* off. Thanks! Note to mods: Was this too much? If so I appologize in advance and will edit/delete the message (if you don't do that already). My intention is not to attack someone specifically, which is why I avoided naming people, but to point out a trend going on (not just this forums either) that's, while somewhat subtle, still insulting and irritating, and that usually goes unchecked and uncalled out by most people. Cheers. [MOD-EDIT: You kept it passionate but not personal against another specific poster, I think we're good. Thanks for sharing. SJ]

I did that and it was not discounted. Are you in a region where the sale is on? If so, once you've cancelled you should just be able to go back to the main origin page and buy it again at the sale price. I have heard that it works and that it doesn't work here in Canada.

I am better and cooler because I don't preorder Not only I am making a more accurate call if the value from product offered >= money developers are asking based on the full version reviews compared to impulse buying on trailer hype, I am also voting with my wallet for developers to deliver a better product *cough*NMS*cough* Don't want to touch the gay marriage subject because it's off-topic, feel free to open a separate topic, there will be a sibling in the next title and guaranteed we won't be romancing him/her, even though same argument you used could also be applied here, if you don't like incest just don't do it, etc.

I'm interested to know what comes out of this if it is indeed a mistake, because I definitely wouldn't have pre-ordered if not for the discount. Couldn't have said it better.

I'm putting this comment on this thread even though you guys are the PC master race and I'm a lowly console user because it concerns preorders. I want your general and genuine thoughts on this- do you think it's a good idea to preorder games?
I'm kind of torn on this since I've been burned before. I tend to feel that if you were planning on buying the game new anyway and there's some preorder cherry on top then go for it. However, I'm otherwise not crazy about preorders since I think it encourages anti-consumer policies as a business practice.
For instance, far too many people reserve some super ultimate edition of a game that includes a season pass and as yet to be revealed promises. I understand being psyched for a game but this honestly seems kind of short-sighted to me. I never buy a game new as deluxe edition, nor do I ever buy a season pass before finding out what's included. Thoughts?

I understand being psyched for a game but this honestly seems kind of short-sighted to me. I never buy a game new as deluxe edition, nor do I ever buy a season pass before finding out what's included. Thoughts? I wrote a post on this on Polygon a while back, though the context was a little different (responding to someone saying you shouldn't ever buy games close to launch, basically): (Please forgive the typos--you get a pretty limited edit window on those comments.) To tie it in more with your question about pre-ordering specifically, I'll add: If you know you're going to buy the game at launch anyway - for whatever reason, and regardless of what other people on the internet have to say about it - then you might as well pre-order if it comes with bonuses/discounts that you like the look of. So, for example, I just preordered ME: A Deluxe 'cause the 30% discount was tempting - I know I'll almost certainly not be able to find it cheaper pre-launch, since it's Origin exclusive, and even if I do/the Standard Edition becomes so cheap that the Deluxe doesn't seem worth it, I can always cancel - and I like the look of the bonuses, both for the Deluxe Edition specifically - soundtracks tend to run about a tenner by themselves, so that alone makes it worth it (assuming it's good, obviously, but that goes for the whole game) - and for pre-ordering. (I love playing dress up with my characters, so bonus outfits are pretty much always welcome.) Now, some people won't pre-order ever 'cause they object to the practice, and that's fine--ultimately, you've gotta do what you're comfortable with. I don't feel all that strongly about it, though, so that's not a significant impediment to me.

I want your general and genuine thoughts on this- do you think it's a good idea to preorder games? Do you mean preorder (as in you don't pay until the product ships) or prepurchase? Preordering may make sense if you want a limited physical edition that may be sold out if you wait too long. If it's totally your favorite developer that you want to support and the goodies contained in the physical edition are something you really really must have, then yes, preordering is what you want to do. If you just want to buy a digital copy? No way. It's not like there's a limited number of items around after all. You can wait for the game to be released, check out what people have to say about it, and if you then think it's a good purchase, go ahead. But don't pay in advance for a digital copy. You're basically giving the publisher free credit for a return value of as yet unknown quality. You may get free digital items with your preorder, but in my experience those usually aren't worth it. It also depends on how much free cash you have and how comfortable you are spending it on the cat in the bag.

I'm getting ME:A regardless, so a 30%-off offer would convince me to pre-order. Otherwise, I don't see the point and generally avoid pre-orders.
But EA isn't known for offering generous sales. So why do this?
Either they are turning over a new leaf, but botched it anyway by offering it to limited areas, or... They're worried about the effect reviews will have on sales and want as many pre-orders as they can get.

But, despite their flaws, I have thoroughly enjoyed every Bioware game I've played, including their most recent ones. The risk that I won't enjoy this game overall is very, very low. I want to play this game as soon as it releases so it makes sense to take advantage of a rare 30% discount on a brand new AAA title, particularly when I also get a bunch of in-game items for preordering. PS if you're trying to start a discussion about the notion that homosexuality is analogous to incest, please don't. I'm sure there are plenty of other places online for you to do that.
