Mass Effect Andromeda Skepticism thread

Anyone else more skeptical/sad that this may be the last really good Mass Effect game? Or just Skeptical that EA's enforced deadline policies may have cut some of the quality/mechanics of the game? I think EA is the only reason I'm nervous for the game.

So is PeeBee now the Sera of ME:A? BioWare REALLY needs to stop trying to write these "quirky" characters because they end up so annoying you want to give them a Virmire suntan.

The problem with ME3 isn't that it's "crap", well, it is to me, but it's that it's just good enough and it was designed by not aiming higher than that:

They're great to their employees, they're not evil, but they are bad for gaming as an "art form". The people that run EA are ultimately doing it for the business. It is a publisher, but you can see the anti-art-ness of EA all over its marketing and how much that marketing tinkers with games. EA is just as bad as any other publisher that isn't Sony though. Look at what Bungie became with Destiny after signing that 10-year contract with Activision (which is also part of Blizzard). It's just corporations. They're bad. When BioWare wasn't owned by EA they still had to find publishers but could do so at their leisure (that is Greg and Ray's) rather than having EA looking over their shoulder from the start of any project, incorporating bad marketing ideas that end up actually changing the game's focus. They also didn't focus test their shit.

But on the flipside, BioWare was bound to be too big for their own good regardless of EA; they just sped the process like tenfold. If you look at CDPR, there's a non-giant company that is already showing they're pretty desperate to become bigger, or maybe it's the publishing deals. The CDPR that made Witcher 2 under Bandai Namco's publishing for PC only is a vastly different CDPR than the one that made Witcher 3 under Warner Bros. publishing, like, look at their marketing. You can tell much more was spent on it for TW3 and the game's appeal was also streamlined heavily by going the Skyrim-route.

Lucky thing though that they ended up making a masterpiece regardless.

For individual story vignettes yes. As a whole, taking gameplay and plot? It as just as many problems as me1 and me3, they are just different.

Well, of course, as long as there is no new information, the same criticisms will be repeated over and over... that's not really a circlejerk.
