I'M SO EXCITED. This is pretty much everything I've been hoping for! To enumerate: 1. Cabin souvenirs! I absolutely loved the version of that system we got in ME2/3, with stuff like the Prothean Sphere, your old helmet and dogtags, and so on. Between those, the pets, and the model ships, ME2/3 genuinely had the only take on in-game collectables I've ever truly liked/engaged with, and I'm so, so glad to hear we'll be getting something similar - perhaps even expanded upon! - in Andromeda. And cabin decor customisation as well! The whole idea that, as we progress through the game, the cabin will get "more of a moved-in feeling" is far more exciting to me than it probably should be... 2. We'd seen it before, but that gigantic main viewscreen is still absolutely beautiful, and to get confirmation that what we'll see through it and the various windows will change depending on where we are and what the ship's doing is just fantastic. Which leads me on to... 3. "After passing through an elliptical corridor (similar to one seen on the Normandy), you are in the galley. This area has more of an atrium-like feel, with windows offering a nice view and stairs leading up to a seating area on a second level. " Here's hoping for some cool scenes of us staring out those Ten-Forward galley windows as beautiful space stuff floats by--whether in solitary contemplation, or conversation. Shame they've confirmed no bartender; every ship could do with a Guinan. (Or a Quark, though that'll net you a pretty different sort of sagely advice...) 4. No loading, duh. 5. Salarian Joker is so yes! maybe we'"ll get the space hamster back that was so funny

I hope the Tempest have a Kitchen, I want to be able to do my Abuela's huevos rancheros I rather have Rupert Gardner's calamari gumbo. I wouldn't eat his food. He only washes his hands some of the time.

I see that The Elder King already explained which salarian he meant. Still, to answer your question, there were three salarians in that clip. It looked like they were fleeing toward Tempest. (I know it's going to drive me crazy listening to characters call the ship "The Tempest", as if that's the name emblazoned across her side. Ugh.) It looked like they needed extraction from a hot situation. You'll just have to cut some slack on that. Putting a "the" in front of a ship's name can just be a way of being clear that one is referring to a ship. Case in point is the difference in: 1) The Sarah is coming into port (i.e. a ship named Sarah). vs. 2) Sarah is coming into port (which could refer to my sister Sarah on a ship of another name rather than the ship itself). So, we're going to have a girl named Tempest in this game, just like we had Lady Normandy in the original trilogy? I'm glad we had all of those articles added to keep things straight. Things surely could've gotten confusing. Valiant effort, but the reality is that this falls into the same category as left-handed salutes and other similar details: it's just not something BioWare stays on top of consistently. Joker sometimes uses it correctly, and I believe Legion always does, but that's about it. It won't ruin my enjoyment, but I will crinkle my nose every time Tempest is called "the Tempest". It annoys me.

Yes, there is no other race(that we know of anyway) that can be with that silhouette than a krogan. Chances are it is our companion Drack. I look forward to the Salarian and Krogan banter that is sure to occur between them since they work next to each other.

Krogan copilot: Stupid machine, go to FTL before I turn your virtual interface into actual dust.
Salarian pilot: Pathfinder, control your Krogan friend.
Krogan copilot: Pathfinder. Paaaaaaaaaaathfinder. Pathfiiiiiiiiiiiiiinder. Pathfinderrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Salarian pilot: Pathfinder, don't touch that. I said, don't touch that. Pathfinder, please, don't touch that. Fine, go ahead and touch it all you want.

It won't ruin my enjoyment, but I will crinkle my nose every time Tempest is called "the Tempest". It annoys me. Just some thoughts about the viewscreen. One, it's awesome. Two, does this mean the pilot is going to be in the CIC? That the bridge and cockpit will be the same this time? I'm wondering both because we're used to being in the middle of the ship to use the galaxy map, and also because that shot simply makes the ship look too wide for it to be in the bow. Maybe we'll have weapons-control (Garrus' station) in the bow instead? I think I'd actually like that better, especially if we have other prominent (bridge) crewmembers besides the pilot, like an XO. Poor Joker always seemed so isolated, and it was annoying running to him and back That, and because having the CIC in the centre of the ship is a better strategic option. If you have a viewscreen rather than windows, it's fine. Does anyone else hope the Salarian wears aviators and a pilot's scarf? No? Just me? Yes, but only if the aviators have a built-in heads-up display and the scarf is an omni-scarf Quick, someone artsy make a picture!

If you have a viewscreen rather than windows, it's fine. It does look really cool, but I know every time I'm up there I will be just like Captain Keyes on The Pillar of Autumn thinking how it is a terrible design flaw. That and of course Legion calling it a structural weakness. The Game Informer article about the Tempest gave a basic description of most of the Tempest(they weren't allowed everywhere because spoilers I'm guessing). The description had it as the bridge is all in the front, then there is a corridor like on the two Normandys, then where the galaxy map/CIC was there seems to be what they called the galley, which is a two story atrium like place, then further back if the cargo bay and somewhere is your quarters.

I really would've liked free controls from that cockpit and then steer the Tempest into a nearby sun and just watch as it slowly engulfs the screen.

Really? The ship that fell to mutiny on route from Tahiti to the West Indies is generally referred to as the Bounty The ship that landed on LV 426 after detecting what was thought to be a distress beacon is generally referred to as the Nostromo The supposedly unsinkable ship that famously sunk after hitting an iceberg is generally referred to as the Titanic The ship that boldly goes where no man (one) has gone before is generally referred to as the Enterprise It's not a Bioware thing, it's just pretty normal. I don't think there's any real rules to it, as some ships aren't commonly namely this way. Just that sometimes it sounds odd otherwise.

It annoys me. You can crinkle your nose all you want... but inserting an article in front of a ship's name is a pretty normal thing for people to do. The difference really comes in how it's written down - "The Tempest" vs. the "Tempest" Situation A implies that the article is part of the formal name and Situation B clearly indicates that the actual name is just Tempest. It is common to insert a "the" in front of ships that are named with names of persons because using the article makes it clearer when one is referring to a ship rather than an actual person... which is the example I gave. The reverse can also be clearer. For example, a ship named Queen. If one were to say "I brought the Queen into port." it might be construed as being the ruling monarch rather than the ship. So, in this case, it is clearer to just say "I brought Queen into port." However, most people would still tend to say "the Queen." In this case, the best way to put it is to actually get more specific and say, "I brought the sailing yacht Queen into port." or, even better, use the proper prefix for the type of ship it is: "I brought SY Queen into port." or "I brought the SY Queen into port." That way, there is absolutely no possible confusion with what is meant when one says "I brought HM Queen Elizabeth II into port." (the person) since a ship reference would be "HMS." The point is that it's not a hard and fast, all black or all white sort of grammar rule. The only thing hard and fast about it is IF the ship's formal name actually contains the article itself... then one would always have to include the article when giving the name of the ship.

The US Navy doesn't, AFAIK, register names as "The _________" (where "The" is part of the actual name); but that does not preclude civilians from having done so with privately owned vessels. What was odd about Star Trek's Enterprise is that they emblazoned the designation USS on the hull... which is not normal with naval vessels.

Eh, it's not completely unheard of for actual naval ships to include the prefix on the hull. Starfleet's style looks coolest anyways.

I'm glad stairs are back. I missed the stairs from ME1.

I stand corrected then. Before I posted I did try to find photos and didn't come across any. Thanks.
