I've been crying for ten minutes. The Baron hung himself! Everyone I've even liked at all is dead. I've killed them all. I've killed NPCs I've never seen. I wanted the Baron to be okay! I wanted him to be okay. Oh my goodness, this is awful guys. I don't know if I can play this anymore. At least, not without a walk through so constant tragedy isn't this...constant? Ugh. I'm going to cry some more. I remember getting that consequence. I was sitting there thinking: "What?" I replayed the Baron's quest over and over again until I got the ending I was satisfied. In order to get that happy ending though, you had to kill the tree spirit in which sadly the children get eaten by the witches......

dragontartare Dragon Age doesn't have this many... Consequences. Playing DA blind is just fun and exciting. I thought I'd apply that to TW3. But apparently it's the most depressing game in the world where 90% of what you do results in mass death. And there is this tiny 10% sliver where you chance make the right choice. And I'm missing the right choice every time. Kiera, Anna, the Baron, Graham, every 10th city elf, an entire village including babies, random villagers under the new rule of the Ex Baron's Soldiers, and apparently unnamed thousands via a lack of the cure are now dead by my poor choices. And apparently I've only done, what, a 4th of the game? And someone else just warned me not to kill Ciri. How the heck is that a thing? Why? And knowing MY choices, seems inevitable! Again, I strongly recommend reloading to before you killed Kiera and at least saving her. Then, decide who you most want to survive from the Baron's quest and we will let you know if it's possible, and how. As for Ciri, some general advice (moderate to severe spoilers, depending on your definition of such): She won't die by Geralt's hand, but her fate does depend on your choices as a player once you find her. There is an ending that I consider genuinely happy. In general, Geralt should show that he trusts her to handle herself, don't expect her to suppress her anger, and be wary of any side-trips to Vizima (remember that the emperor is paying Geralt to bring Ciri to him). Oh crap, totally forgot about that! I actually thought I was making a joke but only now realized I really wasn't. Oh, what a game.

A Bar is a good place to look. But other than winning a fight and getting 80 gold, no closer to friends or Ciri. Sign up for a Skellige quest for later. Maybe the other tavern over there... Oh. Joy. A burning of people. What a nice way to perk me up. Geralt mentions a dodo? A friend of his? No go at the second Tavern, but Dandelion is at least mentioned... Stop at the barber. It's cool how his beard grows, but not so fast it's crazy. Ooo. A whore house----then made the mistake of thinking I could jump down to the first floor and splatted myself.

Slept with the elf to see what that was like cinematics wise. Pretty much the same as Kiera, just a different face. I picked the elf cuz t felt like solidarity. Wah, don't know if that made sense.
Clicked on the Triss quest. Found her house being looted. Of course.
Pretty much hate the Eternal Fire dude. I think I'm just going to say I'm not a fan of the entire order and freely kill when needed.
After the King of Beggars now.
Music is good. No lie about the Citi feeling alive.

You can survive somewhat higher falls that way. This is my last ditch effort to get you to reload and save Kiera so you can feel less depressed. As for other friends, I second the question about Triss. You haven't seen her yet? And no jolly dwarf? I'm genuinely sorry you aren't liking the game that much. The relative lack of power that Geralt has is actually the same thing that makes me like DA2 and Hawke so much. I like playing an ordinary person trying to do their best in a messy world. In fact, a few months back when I couldn't stand to hear another word about politics, I couldn't stomach DA2 and its darkness, and instead killed some time by hacking drowners to pieces in TW3. I guess the fact that a lot of the darkness in TW3 is caused by actual monsters rather than just by people helps me.

I finished crying. Before I even leave the Baron's... Crow's Perch, I kill some men who are trying to rob the peasants there. They seemed pleased. I'm determined to hit Novigrad. I grab Roach and we head that way. Randomly fight that need guy again. Win a battle of words against a Priest/cryer Tell some drunks to go home. Okay. Novigrad is massive. But still no friends or Ciri clues. Sigh. ...is there any particular reason you aren't reloading to save Kiera? I mean, it's your game, but you seem pretty distressed over it. Pretty soon you will find a dwarf friend of yours. He's a like-able sort. Because I'm doing a 99% blind playthrough and saving perfect outcomes for a second play through. If I can even manage the first. I knew saying I'd stop her would likely result in battle, I just thought she'd teleport away at the last second. I think the only spoilers I want is to make sure I get my happy ending with Ciri. So you guys can hit me with that I guess but there is probably no way to get that knowledge without spoiling a crap ton of various decisions.

On another note, when you reach the Baron's corpse. Did you push him around while singing Miley Cyrus: Wrecking Ball? I know I did! (Yes that was a bit cruel, but I wanted to lighten the mood! XD)

The only romance I did, I killed her. and I've picked all the wrong choices so there certainly isn't any feel good. I'm after Triss now, on her trail. I'm more upset about the Baron, to be honest. I've been rooting for him since his lines about how much he loved dancing with Anna in his intro scene. The guy he was talking to was bored out of his mind, but the Baron couldn't help himself. It was all a tragic mess that ended in suicide. I'd pretty much have to start the whole game over to change his outcome.

Man... Your play through is depressing. There is a lot of room for happiness in the part of the game you've played, and you've barely seen any of it.
Start a second play through immediately after completing this one.

Pfft. No. Years where you kept him away from loved ones for your own selfish wants.

It's to the point where my Dragon Age RP character on this site (and on the past site) is based on Corinne. She may be a minor character but she plays a big role. Believe me. (Is that a spoiler?)

I think Triss in witcher 3 is a nicer and more selfless person than Yennefer. Witcher 1 Triss was a lot more like Yennefer. Triss telling Geralt about Yen and Ciri wouldn't have helped him find them any sooner. I'm sure Vesimir, Zoltan, and Dandelion would have mentioned them. I think Geralt would have slept with Triss anyway, he has a thing for Sorceress', and it's not like Yen didn't cheat on him. Made a deal with the Godling. Considering I killed her, should I romance anyone else? I'm fairly certain you can't kill Yen or Triss. And no-one wants to see an old spy cry.

Aww, reading those latest posts made me genuinely sad for phoray . That was a lot of bad stuff to slog through. If it's any consolation, I believed Annabelle too on my first playthrough, and I kinda wanted true love to be the solution, and so I spread around a good dose of the Catriona myself. If anything good came of it, it was that I never trusted the tree spirit and told it so, and naturally it wasn't pleased. The Baron left with Anna to find her a healer. Now, during my current playthrough, the mouse tower quest went a bit differently. After hearing her out, I told Annabelle I'd make my decision later, mostly because I hadn't discovered all the ghosts yet and wanted to complete that side goal before going on. However, the ghosts I had missed were not inside the tower, and I found that the tower door was locked now. Just as Geralt went "What's with the door", Annabelle came down the stairs in her pesta shape, screaming that he was going to leave her behind too, and swiped her claws at him before bursting through the door. I ran after her and fought her, which did not kill her but sent her back to the top of the tower in her ghost shape. From there it was off to Graham. If anyone is interested, the towerful of mice quest is based on actual German and Polish legends. I don't know the details of the Polish one, but the German one goes like this: According to legend, a watchtower was built on an island on the river Rhine by the cold hearted archbishop Hatto II of Mainz (some sources claim it was his predecessor, Hatto I) near the city of Bingen. He was fond of using the term "may the mice eat me if it's not true" whenever he wanted to emphasize a statement. When famine struck the land, the bishop was displeased with all the beggars mucking up the streets of his fair town, and so he announced that all the poor people would be fed in a barn outside the city. When the poor were all inside the barn, he had his men bar the doors and set fire to it on all four corners. As the poor people died screaming in the flames, the cruel bishop said "Do you hear my grain mice whistle? Now there shall be an end to the begging, may the mice eat me if it's not true." ("Hört Ihr meine Korn-Mäuse pfeifen? Jetzt wird der Bettel ein Ende haben, sollen mich die Mäuse fressen wenn's nicht wahr ist.") To his horror, a swarm of mice came after him into his residence, snapping at him and scaring off his servants. He panicked and ran, and the mice kept coming after him, the swarm swelling as more mice joined in the city streets. Eventually he reached the river Rhine, taking a boat to the tower island where he thought he'd be safe. But the mice threw themselves into the water and swam after him, scaled the tower walls and poured through the windows to tear the flesh from the bishop's bones. The tower was named the Mouse Tower of Bingen ever since.

Spoilers regarding getting the "best" ending with Ciri:
It mostly just boils down to the basics of what I posted early on in this thread: be a good dad to her. Be as supportive and loving as possible whenever a chance pops up. And nudge her towards choosing her own path while keeping her away from Emhyr. Looking forward to reading your reactions to one scene in particular later on, since I think you'll be crying for completely different reasons then.
and you can't screw that one up
