Wow. I wore the clothes from the box and Yennifer gives me an insult. What did I do wrong? She told you to pick clothes that would compliment what she was wearing, you needed to wear the black. Edit: sorry I see you were in black.

Wow. I wore the clothes from the box and Yennifer gives me an insult. What did I do wrong? She told you to pick clothes that would compliment what she was wearing, you needed to wear the black. Edit: sorry I see you were in black. I googled. Apparently she prefers Nilfgardien clothing, no swords,no gloves and she'll give a big compliment. Small compliment if you wear the Skellige, no swords,no gloves. Insult if you wear swords or gloves. I wore my sword but GOT the rest right These parties always seem to involve mayhem and everyone else was going to be carrying weapons... So, Geralt is kinda throwing himself at Yennifer. If I'd told Triss I'd loved her, would Geralt be more... Reserved? With Yennifer? The sex scene was a bit odd. I just don't think it's possible but whatever. Geralt looked happy. I dunno. Back and forth on whether or not Geralt is going to be a Lone Wolf at the end of this. Yennifer sexed me readily enough but Kiera romanced me and Triss was like, the leader of a mage underground. I'm feeling like maybe I chose wrong.

Just be alone. You can have all the women you want and not be held down! *raspberry* I don't play that way. On a first PT. My Cousland put Isabella's efforts to shame. I think she even tried to have a go at the Dwarf in Redcliffe. Meanie turned her down. But that was my second PT.

So, Geralt is kinda throwing himself at Yennifer. If I'd told Triss I'd loved her, would Geralt be more... Reserved? With Yennifer? No. In neither the books I read or any of the games is there any mention of Triss having any other sexual partners, but the same cannot be said of Geralt. Though he only loved Yennefer, Triss, and Shani, he was a root rat and had sex with anything in a skirt, whenever the opportunity arose, and never saw having sex with others as meaning he felt any the less of his lover. The game will treat Geralt and Yen as lovers up until you have the djinn lift the spell and Geralt decides whether his love for her was magically induced. I'm currently playing witcher 1 and if Geralt tells Triss he loves her and thinks they should forget about the politics and just run off together, Triss makes it clear that, that is not the life for her. i.imgur.com/0i6qo7N.jpgThe styling of her dress I think is a reference to when Triss was thought to be one of the 14 mages to die in the Battle of Sodden Hill, she said, still alive, but I'll never be able to wear a low cut dress again. And so wore clothes that highlighted her thin waist (that she was very proud of) and which Geralt makes comment of before the Vegelbud ball. But that lore went out the window when Triss is seen in her nighty with no scar. i.imgur.com/tfS22Lu.jpg She is a lot more like Yennefer in witcher 1 as far as her lust for power is concerned. But by witcher 2, if Geralt gives her the rose of remembrance, she says she will give up everything just to be with him. The books are much darker than the game, Ciri really goes through hell. Although the game draws heavily on event's from the books, it often directly contradicts them. And even without the books, the timelines in the games are far more mismatched than anything in the DragonAge series. Example:

Wow, olnorton I'm impressed about your knowledge of this game. Thanks for filling me in. Although I didn't know for certain there was goin to be a genie in the end, I'd just found the journal where Yenn says she's looking for one and wants I use Geralt to find it.

So,I wanted to say I'm excited by Skellige. I prefer the mountains and the trees and the dangerous islands you sail around. And the sirens. And going up to the Main Jarl Place and looking down in the darkness to the lit up village below. And I like the cruder way people are living with open fires on the ground in homes and the accents.
I find it interesting that the War is still "a thing" but it feels kinda distant. This area has it's own set of unique problems. I'm very glad to be away from Novigrad. That city is a downer, and so is every city and village around it.
I'm leaning towards Yennifer being a snob of the highest degree. And in spite of the fact that we're only there to find Ciri, she's being rude and very outspokenly naysaying their customs. Also using Geralt for selfish genie finding purposes. Also think we should have had a discussion about...things? before the sex.
I'm missing Dragon Age, to be honest. This game is solid. It punched me with tragedy and I'm weary. and the romantic moments and high moments aren't frequent enough or high enough to make up for all the darkness and lack of even the appearance of control. Like, want to smack Cerys for how she forced me to go the Tricking of the Hym route even though I thought that idea was stupid risky. But she wins because she jibes me about Yennifer? And how the hell does she know if I'm hen pecked when she literally saw us for a 5 minute table conversation? Gah, assumptions.
Like, I'm helping ukdric get the voices out of his head. As he's screaming about sacrifice and then later he's got a random baby in a crib nearby. And I'm like, where did that come from get away from it! @_@
And that's where I am mentally about the game. Off to bed with me

Yeah the Witcher can be filled with so much darkness and tragedy, that sometimes I just want to disengage from it. I had a hard time finishing Witcher 2 because of those problems (though I did enjoy a lot). That being said Skellige is an excellent place, it not only looks but feels different. They seem to have a lax view of magic judging from their advisors especially compared to the Northern Kingdoms, it's progressive compared to them as well considering that there are women who fight and it has that great atmosphere of exploration and danger.
Check out the awesome music!:

For all the darkness in the game, you can still get a satisfying ending for Geralt and his loved ones.
My previous two favorite settings from pen and paper roleplaying ended like this:
Vampire The Masquerade - Gehenna, the vampiric version of the apocalypse, actually comes to pass. Results vary from all vampires disappear to Earth becomes a dead rock, I think.
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - Chaos Gods win the eternal struggle, everyone dies. I'm still salty as hell about that.

Wow, olnorton I'm impressed about your knowledge of this game. Thanks for filling me in. I'm afraid my understanding of the game is sorely lacking, there is much I don't understand. Not the least of which, how Ciri bought Geralt and Yen back from the dead. I assume is was the unicorn Ihuarraquax, but that begs the question, why didn't Ciri take another loved one who dies to him for resurrection? One of the wiki's say's that the Isle of Avallach is on another world that Ciri took them to to be alone with each other. I'll be looking for evidence of this on my next play through, but it sounds like bollocks. The wiki claims that after the wild hunt made off with Yennefer, Geralt got back to our world through shear force of will. (If he could travel between worlds at will, he would be Ciri.) I'm inclined to believe that Avallach is an small Island in Rivia, it's former occupants having died of plague or from the war. But I have just finished Witcher 1, and these words reminded me of your Velen run . i.imgur.com/sxDwBJo.jpg And if Avallach was on another world, how did Dandelion know about it? Geralt hadn't regained any of his memories by the end of witcher 1, so he couldn't have told Dandelion about it. i.imgur.com/NtQ4DaF.jpgOnly thing I can come up with is that Ciri told him she was going to bury them on the Isle of Avallach, without telling them, or knowing that she could bring them back to life. (Though I tend to think this is just a mistake on the writers part.) I think by leaving out a lot of the things in the books that would have made it too dark for a game, they have just made it harder to understand. Edit: I just found out there are fan made English translations of the last two books, so I will read them now and perhaps all will be revealed.

dragontartareWell, at this point a couple of people have spoiled in this thread that she's maybe breaking Geralt's previous GENIE wish of their fates being tied so they can be free to love or hate each other as is their nature. Which kinda puts the sex scene in a weird light as I imagine Yennifer's POV of it. o.o to me it was free will, but I'm guessing she feels like she may as well have a good time while being his love slave? Ew. But it's all about delivery of the scene. Kiera asked me to go get a package and asked me to be her Prince Charming after Putin in effort to have a nice evening together. That won me over. Triss gave me a compliment about my clothes and danced in the rain- that tempted me, but it seemed it would have been selfish to hold her back from her mage underground when I wasn't even sure. Yennifer insulted my clothes, insulted to locals, and apparently kinda likes Nilfgardiens. and I accept her "orders" because right now I think it's about Ciri. But if all this crap isn't about Ciri I'm going to be pretty annoyed- and you guys have pretty much said the mask etc is about a Genie. Like, Geralt and Yennifer romance issues can wait? Ya know? We'll see how the scene presentation goes. Perhaps Yennifer will sweep me off my feet after all.

Lol Of the main story, not the game — it's an important distinction From what you've said, you're almost done with Act I, which is the longest. I would say that ignoring sidequests, Act II and Act III together should take you... about twenty or twenty-five hours? Maybe less if you rush it. EDIT: Oh, and by the way, I think you will enjoy those acts better than the first one. They are more "Bioware-y" and in fact I am sure Act II is meant to reference a certain game or two

I think you're interpreting it a bit harshly as to how Geralt's old wish is influencing their relationship. Nobody is there against their will or as some kind of love slave, someone else probably remembers the exact wording of it but Geralt didn't wish for her to be forced to unconditionally love him forever and ever. And she truly does love him. Wish or no wish. One of the most heartbreaking things in the game is turning her down, and I say that as someone who clearly prefers Triss. And there's no question about it: the #1 priority for both Geralt and Yennefer in Skellige and otherwise is Ciri, Yen is extremely driven to find her and won't let anything get in the way. The genie business dealing with Geralt's and Yen's relationship is actually a side quest.

Okay. Room is clean and clothes are sorted. Groceries gotta be had today, but I should be good to game a couple hours. I had just wondered cuz I'd push myself if it could be finished in a day, but if we're looking at another 30 hours, I'll pace it out. 3-4 more gaming days.
After this I'm pondering if I should try Mass Effect 3 or jump into another replay of the DA Trilogy. But probably not a replay of TW3 LOL sorry. I don't love the game, right now, enough to play two runs back to back. Dragon Age Origins did that to me, couldn't friggen wait to be Queen of Ferelden and fired it up a 2nd time after the credits rolled.
It's possible that I'd give it a replay some day to get my walkthrough assisted perfect play through though. It seems a solid enough game to be a great cleanser between Trilogy runs.
Onwards to explore Skellige.
Edit add: lied. This controller cord won't charge the controller a d I'm tired of standing a foot away from a 32+ inch screen to play.
Game is on pause till new cord comes from Amazon.
Which means I can play something else!
Ooooooo ME 3 or DA Trilogy run?!
If I start a trilogy run it would be a long while to come back to this, because I don't like getting my world states confused....ME3 is me giving the series a second chance because the first bored me.
