There is kind of an explanation for that actually. If you complete Yennefer personal quest later, you will understand that Geralt is pretty much being forced to behave romantically towards Yen. And after finishing the quest Geralt is finally free of that influence. Interesting idea. That the Djinn wish is forcing him to act toward her differently than is natural for him. So he'll be super inclined to end the wish as well. Last time I did that quest, I was super overpowered. Is there a way to get it show up faster? There is no secret honestly. Just keep doing the main questline in Skellige and eventually Yennefer will request you to meet her at a tavern. That's the only way to unlock Yen's personal quest.

Just don't turn on enemy scaling for that quest - it makes the djinn impossible to defeat. I was overleveled for it and the thing one-shot killed me multiple times. Searched it online and discovered it was a bug with the setting. I turned it off and the quest proceeded with no problem.

Last game, I did all sorts of things that pissed Yenn off and she still romanced me. Like showing up poorly dressed and drinking at the Wake. But didn't defend her honor. This game, I'm showing up pretty, punching anybody who insults her (that level 30 Jarl only managed to get one punch in, the bitch ) and only drank the one drink to show no hard feelings. Yenn was pleased I defended her, she had a smile. I am amused to think I'm being the kinda Geralt she wants and she won't be getting so much as a kiss.

Yes break her heart! melbella i didn't had this trouble with enemy level scalling. On the contrary it was the only way to stop me from pretty much kill the djinn in two hits since i was way over leveled to that quest.

Which I find odd because Novigrad comes before Skellige. They made the third act before the 2nd? Honestly, I’m still sore about that whole “thou must romance Triss” from the second game, and don’t feel too bad that they bungled her in TW3. Never particularly cared for the character; she was always written inconsistently and was a bizarre choice for Geralt’s sorceress sidekick coming from the books. Yes thank you! I do feel for the peeps that wanted a better Triss romance in witcher 3 but witcher 2 made me especially irritated because I couldn't escape her no matter what.....and all I wanted was my Shani romance damn it. I didn't even rescue her at the end hoping she would croak but then Letho had to ruin it.

I was very  to find out there was no Shani in TW2. When my first pt of TW2 happened and Geralt was in bed with Triss I was like WTF?!?!?! As for phoray and her pt: are you going to feel bad when you dump Yen? I remember I couldn't stand her my first pt and lol'd when I broke up with her........then felt bad later

I didn't even rescue her at the end hoping she would croak but then Letho had to ruin it. I just had entire freaking countries weighing on my head. Forget about going to save some one who could very well be dead by the time I got there. I actually liked Triss in TW2, the scene with the Rose was great. I get confused about this breaking up off screen though. They don't explain it so you can head canon why he breaks it off? Because it had to be Geralt, not Triss, who did it.

Unless Triss' scenes get better from here, I'm in the Yenn camp for sure. Just not for this PT. I really don't have in it me to play a third time, so I hope I can just take bits and pieces from both PTs and set it into my head as "canon".

Hmm I was originally assuming Triss did it, although I could understand why she would in my game lel. Too bad there was a breakup off screen though, I love these games and get that Geralt is his own character but I wish they respected your choices better and didn't decide things for you between games. If they didn't want to give the player the option of a break up then maybe it should've been based on how you played Geralt in the previous games. Did you give Triss the Rose of remembrance and act all lovey towards her? no break-up. Did you push her away with most of your choices? break-up. Oh well *shrugs* nothing is perfect I guess.

I actually like both Triss and Yen, but I will forever be salty about Shani At least we will always have HoS! This has reminded me that I think I once put up a couple Witcher vids on my youtube. I don't recall what they were though. Now I'll have to go see if they were the romance ones :-o

You can certainly end the game sidelining her. They did a lousy job carrying any of this over into TW3, but you really aren't shoe-horned with Triss by TW2's end.

You can certainly end the game sidelining her. They did a lousy job carrying any of this over into TW3, but you really aren't shoe-horned with Triss by TW2's end. I know you can say that, as that was an option I chose in 2. I also sidelined her every step of the way in the first game where she seemed absolutely pissed with me by the end. My Geralt was pretty intent on starting some type of life with Shani and yet still magically ended up in bed with Triss in 2 while telling Foltest he was going to take her and leave once everything was over. Triss positively hated me at the end of witcher 1....and even if they still wanted a shani break up, Triss should not have been so in love with me by the 2nd game; her mooning over my Geralt just started to appear desperate without any self respect for herself. So in 2? yeah she certainly was pushed on me imo. I could also say that while Yenn is pushed on you in Witcher 3, you can least end up with Triss in the end despite her pitiful lack of content. However while I may not like Triss all that much, I also know Triss fans got robbed in 3. They did a lousy job carrying over my decisions from 1 just like they did a lousy job carrying over the Triss romance into 3. I don't know why they did this honestly, as Geralt's wish only tied his destiny to Yenn, not his love. He should have been capable of loving Triss just fine without the Djinn mission and he shouldn't have had automatic flirts with Yenn. I'm still puzzled over their decision there.

The auto-flirts with Yennefer were really irritating because I spent all my chosen dialogue doing exactly the opposite of what she wanted, or at least grumbling loudly about it if I couldn't.

she was always written inconsistently and was a bizarre choice for Geralt’s sorceress sidekick coming from the books. Why Bizarre? She was certainly inconsistently written, but then they botched so much of the writing, compared to the books that had very good attention to detail and very few inconsistencies (Dandelions age being the only one that springs to mind.) Triss had put her own life on hold for two years to stay with Ciri at Kaer Morhen at Eskel's (and Ciri's) request. She was the only non witcher welcome there. Admittedly she had charmed Geralt to have sex with her the first time, but this was a very common practice for sorceress' (Yennefer often did it) Although, given Geralt's nature, I doubt she needed to. He made how he felt about her very clear to her after Dandelion told him she had survived Sodden hill. She traveled with Geralt and Ciri to Ellander and when neither she nor Nenneke could do anything about Ciri's nightmares and premonitions, Triss convinced Geralt to write to Yennefer for help. He hadn't spoken to her for years at that time and wanted nothing to do with her, but eventually agreed for Ciri's sake. Triss and Geralt left together before Yennefer got there, because Geralt didn't want to see her. On the morning before Geralt and Yennefer's death in Rivia, Triss and Yen fought openly, with Triss saying she would no longer stand aside for her. With Witcher 1 starting with Yennefer being presumed dead for years, if not Triss, who else?

I admit i started getting pissed with Yennefer when she openly admits to recovering her memories a lot earlier than Geralt(thanks to the emperor's mages) but didn't bother looking for him until her own search for Ciri stopped bearing fruits. As W3 progress i keep remembering Letho's words about having no clue of what Geralt saw on Yennefer, their relationship seems toxic to me: they have some moments of hot sex, then after that they can't handdle each other personality until they fight and broke up just to meet again later and repeat the cycle (sex, hate each other, break up)... So when i reached that Djinn quest I was more than happy to finally dump her.

Cerys has a stick up her butt about Yennefer and Geralt. Seems to me she is infatuated with Geralt but can't talk about it so instead she keeps pestering him about his relationship with Yennefer. Typical kid's love.

So the Following Thread Quest had me in a bit of a "what the heck should I do". I don't know if it's a poorly done quest or a well done quest. I suppose I find a frustrating to play a fixed character who is supposed to be excellent at Sluething and reading body language and then they put the decision in my hands with limited information and I'm like...What am I supposed to do with this?
I dislike the idea of blocking Lambert's vengeance. The sense of Family feel I get from fellow Witchers is strong I dislike the idea of killing a Witcher. I've mentioned multiple times that I have no interest in contributing to the extinction of this breed of human.

I played the games before reading the books so in TW3 Yennefer felt forced on me and I just really felt no interest in her at all as she has the sort of personality that just drives me nuts. I was not a Triss fan during TW1 and I gave Alvin to Shani and pursued the romance with Shani. Was so pissed in TW2 when Shani was dropped BUT I am glad in a way cause I thought Triss was great in that and I had no hesitation therefore in continuing with Triss in TW3 and so with the quest with the Djinn, it was see ya later Yenn. As melbella said kudos on the happy dance icon
