I have heard two different versions of possible scenarios: 1. The Hyperion Arc gets lost on its way to Andromeda and we meet the enemy. 2. Something goes wrong aboard the Arc and leads us to arriving late to Andromeda. Which is it?

Pff, Dadryder realize that he forgotten to turn off the stove so we needed to go back to check, turns out that he had forgotten that he had sold the house. Stuff like that happens.

It all make sense!! But when he discovers Shep beat him to the punch (Destroy Ending) He becomes a wandering drunk hanging out in a local bar in some city on some backwater planet until one of his old friends from the Initative finds him and recruits him back into the fold. ( I think this has been done somewhere before)

I'm betting it's number 2. I think the Hyperion leaves just a fraction later than the other Arcs and it amounts to a few decades difference by the time they arrive. It's the only reason I could think of as to why there are already settlements and stuff when you're exploring planets.

Oh snap... I didn't know we arrived later. I thought it was just the whole, we arrived and couldn't contact everyone else because of the interference or whatever from our designated planet. Link to where this info is please? (we probably arrived late because we were trying to get our vessels outfitted properly before we went to an unknown galaxy and finally they had to say fuck it and just go otherwise they'd end up getting there 100s and 100s of years after the others. )

It's the only reason I could think of as to why there are already settlements and stuff when you're exploring planets. If there were time dilation, I could see that being the case. But seeing as Mass Effect tech negates it, anything traveling at superluminal speeds would ignore it. So if they left, say, a day late, they'd arrive a day later than everyone else barring some unforseen circumstances.

What happens is the Hyperion makes a pit stop at Darkspace Food and Lodge. Everyone is taken out of sleep mode to stretch their legs, eat, use the restrooms and change clothes if they wish. Once the fuel tanks are filled on the ship, everyone gets back in their pod for the rest of the journey to Andromeda

Actually the settlement thing is easy to understand, first off remember we aren't the only space faring race in the galaxy itself so there are bound to be some structures up already or ones left abandoned for one reason or another. Second prefab structures are very quick to put up, even today some cities can build entire complexes for housing within a very short amount of time.

How spoiler-y are we getting in this thread? From my understanding the Nexus is designed to arrive before any of the arks[/a] so that it can act as the coordinating authority / temporary housing as they arrive/colonies go up. As far as Hyperion, what I've heard is that it arrives (damaged as a few posters have noted) and finds that the planet designated for Human habitation 600 years prior is no longer suitable / in a bit of a sorry state. I've also heard talk that some of the other arks have it a lot worse, ie the subject of the novel titled Annihilation. That could just be some nonsense though.

However if this is the actual event then how long does it take for the Hyperion Ark to make contact with the Nexus and other Arks after its awakening and being lost? Sure would be hard waking up lost and no map to the other Arks and Nexus (since more than likely than not Father Ryder had the map). For it seems like many of the other species from the milky way have settled down already or at least got some semblance of a society going on. Even that one hub planet said that people there were kicked off the Nexus and it looks like more than just built out of prefab shelters.

Hence why I phrased it that way. Lack of any males automatically disqualifies them from the list... thought that was obvious? Also the primary reason Asari never get lost.
