A very good gun, one of the best in the game (good dps, light, infinite ammo*...). You can't really go wrong with it.
*That makes it better than the Harrier on certain maps in platinum.

A very nice gun, even at level I. Mine is only at II because trollstore.
I find that it doesn't work with every character because it needs an extended magazine, so there's effectively only one mod slot. Therefore, if I want to use elemental ammo, I have to use the free slot for a piercing mod, foregoing the extended barrel. I prefer to use AP ammo for that reason, except with characters that have really good weapon passives like turians. I prefer to use it with some form of recoil mitigation, too.

I used to use the phaeston on my Phoenix VG, and I wasn't always a fan of the lancer due to it's overheating, but once i learned how to manage it (extended mags) that gun is now put to heavy use on my phoenix VG. Nice damage output and i rarely overheat the gun, due to power/gun control balance...one of the best guns to initiate damage and suppressive fire.

I like the Lancer. Lancer I and Arc II, are my two fav guns. :) They are easy to use, and low-maintenance.
Heh, every time I try a new gun, there seem to be an unpleasant surprise somewhere. OMG, that Reegar is uber-powerful, everyone says so. Ah, but did you know you need to stand right in front of the bad guy and spend many, many painful seconds pressing down the trigger before the green killing power starts flowing... for all of a fraction of a second? Hurricane, oh, sounds great! Well, what they did not tell you in the description is that it thinks we out are shooting ducks on another planet, not the scary guys right next to us.
Lancer, well, watching that clip and stopping at an odd moment, it's not so bad...
