Ok, so not thinking about squadmates now, more, what are you actually hoping from the romance and romantic arcs themselves?
Would you be happy with any of the above poll options, or would you care to share the style or perhaps, genre of romance you'd like to see be featured as a possible scenario in Andromeda?

I voted for 2 and 4. I like commitment even in the face of a very uncertain future.

Alien! I feel like its something we haven't really seen before, despite the range of alien romance options. Or, not in any depth at least. Just in general I'm hoping for something fresh that doesn't rehash the same arcs we've seen in the previous games.

I chose 4 (I love slow-burn type romances that sort of surprise you and make you go 'of course!' at the same time), but 3 would be cool too - I think alien/human romances are fun, but I'd love to explore the cultural issues, perhaps even the prejudice, of having that sort of relationship. That wasn't really touched on much in the trilogy - the alien difference was relegated to sexual compatibility jokes and that was all.
If I could've chose a third option it'd be 'other.' I'm a sucker for the whole enemies to friends to lovers trope, but we've never had a male romance option like that in ME or DA.

The serious, more personal one. Nothing captures my heart more than a relationship formed through trust from dramatic, life changing events. The subtle yearning and desire almost eating away at them until one can't take it any longer and succumbs to it in an orgasmic explosion of WUV. MANY PASSION. MUCH SPARKS.

I like the slow build up, but wouldn't necessarily mind being able to bang someone else before I find my long term relationship.

Other: I am hoping to see non-committed romances built into planetary stories that are part of adventuring with a non-party NPC, like in SWTOR (aka Numen Brok or Lord Cytherat) with Flirts interspersed in the hair-rising action sequences and one or two romance specific cut-scenes. I want something more interesting & elaborate than "collect it all" Bangdromeda spree, but not a squadmate slow burn build up to wedding bells either. The necessary part for me is that the romance does not form a separate 25 dialogue sequence, but is INTEGRATED into the planetary quest sequence, and includes landscapes and actions on the planet, rather than relegated to the dialogues in the cabin/by the tent. I would also want it to be more succinct, so you can grasp the characters' character from the short exchanges/context rather than drilling them at length for info-dumps. I really want to avoid that whole feel of: "Well, let's get started on your backstory, Potential LI. Dialogue #1, the Introduction."
I want the LI to be interesting, larger than life and completely independent from the PC, so his or her ambitions were not subservient to the PC's, even if the agendas do align (or are at odds).
Sort of like those characters we see in Bio's games in the story context, and the first instinct is: OMG, I wish he/she would join my crew! Only, no, no, let them do their own thing with or against the PC AND be romaneceable while at it, on their own world, element etc.

If you wanna play a Gotta Bone 'Em All, play the Witcher games.
I prefer exclusive relationships. Went 2/4, because I don't really care whether it's obvious or quiet. Though I suppose 4 is preferable of the two.
Does this mean I'm a hopeless romantic?!

... a good one?
Never had to categorize types of romances before. All the options sound good but I can't say for sure which I'd prefer over the others. I suppose it depends on the context and characters involved.
I will say that despite their excellent character work, subtlety is not BioWare's strongsuit, historically speaking. So less is maybe not more in this case. Bring on the passion and PDAs.

I want a serious, slowly building space operatic, across the stars and all of time and space type romance. With a worthy partner. They better be spectacular. But until my Ryder finds such a thing, Bangdromeda will have to do.

By "Across the Stars" I was kind of referring to Padme and Anakin.
Before I have sand thrown at my face for even suggesting Padme and Anakin's romance in the prequels should be emulated, I think, hammy dialogue and acting aside, the whole tragic, melodramatic romance they have is suited for the grandiose space opera that Star Wars is.
Also I loved how their love for one another was what lead to the doom of the galaxy. That sort of big, tragic arc is something I doubt we'll see in Andromeda, but possibly serious and tragic consequences from romancing a character other than just spurning another character is something I'd like to see.

Yep, they are definitely the star-crossed lovers trope, but by "Across the Stars" I was referring to their theme by John Williams in the prequels. *don't judge me but i kinda love it*

Actually, I'm probably in the minority here, but I wouldn't mind a doomed romance. The LI dies, or goes dark side and you have to hunt them down to destroy them. It would be tragic. And good for character development. But since our squad mates aren't going to be dying (another thing I don't mind so much even though I still sob when Mordin goes) it's not likely that an LI will die, either. The squad mate not dying is something that disappointed me a little. I don't mind sad, heart-wrenching scenes that are well written. Though I do wish Bioware would flash a tissue-box interrupt beforehand to give us a heads up on keeping those hankies nearby.
