Perhaps because there is a nice population of us who still desired more Mass Effect after ME3. If you dont want more ME games, then dont by them. I mean, who has the gun to your head making you follow MEA or buy MEA? I believe some clarification is due here: I, among the others of those posting and calling out for the most obvious and unjustified shortages ME:A has (that we know of for now) are not of the "No More ME" party here. We're of the "Make ME:A a better game than the previous trilogy". We know Bioware is more than able to create great stories. They have done it in the past and will do again. But for some reasons we’ve become a little jaded, after witnessing some questionable (at least) decisions in the past. I, for example, wouldn’t like to see such a legacy squandered in the name of “easy” choices that would make ME another forgettable franchise among a sea of mediocrity. Mass Effect, at least, the one I’ve got used to know, will always have the potential to become something bigger and greater than a simple “game.” But calling “art” something doesn’t really add anything if it is awful to begin with. No one is pointing a gun to someone else head… but it isn’t too much to ask for a better game, isn’t it?

Nice Clip...
Still though my main 'concern' remains. Most people's concerns about the game have to do with gameplay. This seems to be a trailer trailer and not a gameplay trailer or demo. So I just do not think this will win any hearts and minds if it ust shows a trailer.
On the flip side I really suspect this trailer might begin the official media blitz that we have all been expecting wanting to. I may be wrong of course and they may, for some reason, put some of this marketing after launch. But we know they will do 2 trailers (at least, this one and the launch trailer), a fifteen minute gameplay reveal and I thin 3 more Nexus Briefing things. That's at least 6 videos and as a dev reminded us on Twitter we only have 8 wees left until launch. Which, as it occured to me, this makes a fair bit of sense. I know BioWare/ EA has been getting a lot of flak for their marketing campaign one way or the other, and now I realize this has been unfair, because they didn't have a release date. I was concerned, before the release date, that they were going to start this huge marketing campaign and then run out of material because they low and behold they decided to release the game in June. But now that they know what the release date is they can plan out exactly when they are going to release things and exactly how much time they have to really market this game. In hindsight this has been rather brilliant. In BW we trust.

After DAI nothing in the multiverse can take negative sentiment from Andromeda. Unless of course you loved DA I... besides Dragon Age and Mass Effect have little to do with one another. They may borrow some of the same gameplay mechanics here and there (voiced protagonists, the dialog wheel being the two big examples) But they are very different in terms of almost anything. In fact almost nothing from DA I is concerning me about ME A. The things which are concerning me about ME A which has to do with previous games is more like the things ME 3 did wrong.

Yep: I still fail to understand how sci fi and fantasy can get mixed anywhere. I mean, nuclear fire and the problems related to misuse of technology, and how progress reshape the concept of self: sci fi. Greek fire and personal events that are more important and pivotal to the plot than the bigger picture, the struggle of good vs evil in its most clear representation: fantasy. The difference is quite obvious, imo... or did I read too many books?

It doesn't have to win me, I'm in a mod of "wait and see". I don't trust any marketing these days, I've never jumped on a hype train and I don't regret it. There are things in the trailers that concern me, there are things that aren't, and for the record from what I've seen my concerns don't really align with a large chunk of BSN, so whatever.
As for the teaser, the most interesting thing I take for it is a possible glimpse at the true enemy of ME:A (not the Kett), if you look at the planet you see kind of what looks like a mechanical swarm cloud. I don't think the planet shown is Habitat 7, I think the planet appears much later in the game, hense Peebee is in the teaser.

The difference is quite obvious, imo... or did I read too many books? Well granted the two genres have become very confused in a post Star Wars world (not that I am complaining) and there are a lot of overlap between the two genres. So I don't really mean from a genre perspective, but everything else? The two franchises are night and day. I mean without going into paragraphs and paragraphs and paragraphs of differences Mass Effect has always been about the story of Commander Shepard (now Ryder). DA has always been the story of Thedas. (even that brief forray into really personal narrative of Hawke ended up being about Thedas in the end). Granted this does not mean that DA can't have great character moments, but there you go.

Having the dialogue not relate to the image would be a pretty big misdirection for a trailer imo. I think it must be. We heard somewhere that the Human planet turned out to be unsuitable and having a massive Alien structure/ruin/presence or whatever would be a pretty cool way to start the story.

Well, it won't be the first trailer where the words didn't match the event on the screen. I agree with colfoley that the trailer is unlikely to satisfy the people more critical/concerned about the gameplay, although It might satisfy the people wanting to know more of characters...depending on how much focus on them there'll be. We'll see.

I can't recall if that was the case in Alpha Centauri.

But relative to us they are aliens so I think the terminology is OK. I'm struggling to think of a better word than what I used, especially since we don't know whether or not they are native.

It is indeed a big misdirection, but Peebee's presence, Scott Ryder's back, and that mechanical swarm cloud tell me this planet is much later in the game. Habitat 7 is shown from the surface as a cloud covered dark rocky world, whereas the planet shown from the Tempest(?) looks like a barren desert planet.
