I'm romancing Tekehu right now ( OMGEE DUDE NO KIDDING I DIDNT NOTICE?! xD) and I find a lot of Jaal in him in the sense that he's open about his romantic feelings. Teke fits the trope promiscuous bisexual not gonna lie there but after of all that -2 meters- wall of blue scales there is a man with a lot of insecurities, he seems to shield himself with this conceited personality to be strong, it's the man behind the facade who reminds to Jaal. what has this to do with anything? well I guess I miss this stupid cute catman from outer space. I wish I could have more time to do a Jaalmancer run again but I gotta do a lot of gaming x-x so so slow Jaal is almost the same sadly with the amount of flirting he does in the game. Glad most of it can be avoided though. I really want to try that game since I heard Pillars 2 is a lot better than the first one. (the first one bored me to death at times). If I get it, I might get it on switch-I wonder if import vrs customized history makes a huge difference? I started a new run tonight. I need Jaal to distract me from all the Ubisoft drama. I didn't think anyone would top the mess BioWare made with Gil, but no one is safe in odyssey-everyone is getting a turkey baster like they were getting a car at a filming of Oprah.

Sad the romance content is short in classic rpgs, but it was super sweet! I hope I can get more romance banter, although the bit of the kiss on the cheek was so sweet! I started a new run tonight. Ubisoft is so trash, we can criticize a lot about Bioware but at least they fixed Jaal. Also, Jaal is the best m/m romance imo. if only bioware would ditch open worlds to make things quicker y.y

It has really not added anything of any value to the experience. It has only inflated play times with lots of time filling quests that are so incredibly boring and not related to the main storyline. I even felt some the companion's quests (peebee) were inflated terribly for no apparent reason. Jaal's was even guilty of it a bit, but I did enjoy his mission all the same. But yeah-his did involve multiple trips to various planets-and all of them locked behind a load screen. I'm not crazy about that game design. I feel like quests should generally take place in one map at least. Either way though, Jaal's quest was still the most interesting of the bunch for my bias self though.

Yessss companion quests drag on for too long through the game! I think the best formula for me was DA2's. You have a new companion quest in every act that you can finish right away. LOL Peebee was in her room eating sunflower seeds out of boredom, sorry girl no friend duties til Jaal is my boo so glad I played in june

I just can't with her. Yeah, I think Dragon Age Inquisition did pretty good with the companion side quests. Mass Effect 2 did okay, but on a more recent replay they all felt a bit too brief since they had to do 12 of them. That was too many team members.

I hope rondeeno lovely mods change my experience. The straight male gaze is so prominent in all the content the Mass Effect team put out. I really feel like gay or bi animators and writers could be a godsend. I want to be able to play the game and not have to worry "is this option going to lead on the female character". Cause a lot of the straight or bi women are written with non-marked flirts and you can soft lock into those romances so easily. It was the same in Dragon Age Origins. I'm glad Andromeda mostly corrected that, except for peebee. She assumes you want her no matter what unless you avoid her till you lock in with someone else. v.v

Let's see how they do with the next Dragon Age game, since they did say romance would be in it. After MEA, hopefully there's more options for everyone. Might give us a hint of what will be next for ME.

That will give everyone at least 2 options, 3 if both extra options are male and female and are available to everyone.

I was worried they might attempt that after all the misleading stuff with Jaal. That being said, if straight males/females get 2 straight options, then it should happen for gay/lesbian options too, and the bisexual ones should be added as 3 for both straight and gay/lesbian and we should also have a few asexual too.

That's why I said the 2/2/2 plus a couple extra. So it would be 1 Straight Male 1 Bisexual Male 1 Gay Male 1 Straight Female 1 Bisexual Female 1 Gay Female and then the couple extras could be things like as you said a full asexual romance since due to being outside the 2/2/2 people can't really complain about it taking away an option since they'd still have choices.

There is mention between Jaal and Vetra about Peebee's flirtation and that he's expressed interest about it. Between him complimenting Cora and asking her about innuendos and Peebee talking about wanting to find out whether Asari and Angara can reproduce, there's a sense of wanting to race the clock until the player can express interest in Jaal enough for him to consider a romance.

It's so creepy that he talks about Peebee with Vetra. Like you can't freaking escape Peebee. I feel like I can only take Jaal and Liam around without having to hear a lot of banter that I just dislike. Even Drack you have to hear about his dead sister-in-law that he was in love with for a second time...
Though to be fair the Cora flirting is not nearly as annoying-it could be interpreted as friendly at least.

The good news with Cora at least, is that I got through enough Nomad dialogue between him and her for Jaal to say he sees her as a sister. But as for the rest? Jaal's a heartbreaker it seems. *Somewhere on Voeld* Jaal: You're in better shape than everyone else, Cora. Cora: Move over, Jaal, you're making me hot. Jaal: Do you mean hot or "hot"? *Back on Aya* Two Angaran women: I hear that Jaal and Avela see each other often *Over on Eos* Peebee: Ya wanna figure out if Asari can mate with Angara? Jaal: *Clears throat* *On Kadara* Jaal: Vetra, I've been thinking about what Peebee said Vetra: Should I speak to her? I can tell her to stop Jaal: No, no, actually, I'm rather intrigued by her offer. *SCREEECH* *Ryder gets out to run off screaming in frustration*

*Back on Aya* Two Angaran women: I hear that Jaal and Avela see each other often Sorry, have to chime in here as an Avela fan. You're not summarizing this one right. The two have feelings for Jaal, but talk about how he is oblivious and dense to their advances. One then mentions it seems he had feelings for Avela, but that never went anywhere because Avela was oblivious and dense to his feelings. So yeah, it's a case of him liking the opposite sex but not in the way you made it sound.

Here you go (spent a half hour digging for this for you): Journalist: "They should put Jaal on every Resistance recruitment poster. Did he ever contact you?" Traveling Merchant: "*chuckles* No. That man is impervious to flirtation." J: "Why are the good ones always dense?" TM: "I hear he had a thing for the repository's curator. Never went anywhere. She's just as thick." J: "So...Jaal's available." TM: "You're hopeless. Where's that shuttle?"

Late to the Jaal party, but I just finished a a Scott/Jaal playthrough and just wanted to talk about some stuff. Firstly, I made the mistake of taking Peebee in the Nomad with Jaal and it was really frustrating to have to listen to them talk about procreating together even after I thought I had locked in the romance (by visiting Jaal's family). That was really, just... ugh. My Scott was all "WTH, I'm sitting right here!" I'm sorry for everyone who had to experience that. It was not... great. Secondly, I initially tried the Jaal romance with Sara and he was just not a good fit for my Sara. She was a dorky introvert and he was just so overwhelmingly affectionate that it made her (and by extension, me) kind of uncomfortable. Definitely an extroverted Sara would have gone with him much better. My Sara also had an aversion to Reyes, whereas my Scott (who is sort of a meathead) really liked Reyes' mix of sexy and underhanded. So, I thought if anyone could stand up to having "MY DARLING ONE!" shouted at him across the room, it would be my Scott. During the playthrough, I was still not really sure how I felt about the romance, but I was bombing through at breakneck speed replaying all of the conversations and just trying to harvest clips for a video, so I wasn't paying full attention. Only after I started putting together the video did I realize how great Jaal can be, especially with a Scott who isn't particularly close with his family. In one conversation they talk about impostor syndrome and in another it's really touching how Jaal tells Scott that Alec would be proud of him. My Scott lied to Sara while she was in a coma, so she was pretty pissed at him, and Cora kept giving him the side-eye for being sort of reckless and trollish, so having someone who understood the pressure Scott was under and who tried to repair his relationship with his father was just... wow. Also, I played all of the romance scenes with all variations, and I really liked seeing Scott and Jaal feeling so comfortable touching each other (leaning their heads together, hugging, holding hands) in a way we don't usually get to see between guys in media. They just look like they're giving each other comfort and respect in a really heartwarming way. If I think of Scott as being starved for affection (your Scott may vary) even if he covers it well, it's a really huge thing for him to have someone like Jaal. The ending scene at Meridian where Scott and Jaal hug and kiss and then just stare into each other's eyes was really special. (By contrast Sara's scene had her riding Jaal like a mechanical bull, which was so unlike my Sara I was really put off.) I've always thought that my Warden Tabris wants nothing more than to give Alistair a happy childhood, and I feel Jaal and Sahuna are going to do the same for Scott. They're just going to take him and give him the affectionate, supportive family he (possibly) never had. With pie. And I can just see him becoming so much more confident and loving in response. And maybe not feeling like he has to pretend to be okay all the time. So, yeah, I can see why Jaal is really something special for the right Ryder. Jaal telling Scott "You make me feel safe" gave me all the feels. (Of course, he'd also be great with happy, extroverted Ryders, too.) I set the video to I'm Still Here from Treasure Planet which refers to the main character being abandoned by his father. It gets off to a slow start, sorry.
TL;DR I didn't get the Jaal romance at first but now I think I'm starting to.
