Hrm...that reminds me that I was wondering if the Angara even have space ships. I think it's very likely but who knows how much they know about their own star system or the other planets.

Okay, I personally think they do know things and planets and he will act as a kind of guide for us (though some of his information might be purely theoretical as well because it would be a bit boring if he wasn't sometimes as surprised by things like we are) but maybe they have some restrictions to that as well. Like they don't have ships that fly as fast as the milky ways ones. Something like a civilization that just entered their space travel era and already came in contact with the Kett and are in conflict with them because of it.

So...hrm...I'm not to keen on the similarities but I could see the remnant vault a little bit like humans finding the prothean archives on Mars.

But maybe there already is something like a intergalactic (Helios-cluster-based) council already in place and the Angara and Kett just another faction of it and we get introduced to it through the Angara because we land on their doorstep.
Jaal then being a kind of representative/diplomat would work really good then.

I still see him more on the warfaring side though and not too high up. I mean...yes the milky way races invading their home system and galaxy is a really big thing and a Pathfinder a very important position in all that but I don't think the Angara would send their most beloved prince/important diplomat with one of the Pathfinders when said Pathfinder only speaks for the 'hoomans' of the milky way. A diplomat would be better suited on the Nexus or some neutral ground in between I think.

I really don't know what to make of Jaal and his status within his people, to be honest. I can see it go in both directions (military and royalty/diplomacy or even a mixture)...he might be the son of someone important, he might be a kind of rebel leader himself or a proven hero to his people or...maybe even someone that isn't as important and someone they could spare to have an eye on the Pathfinder.

And even though I'm reading here constantly and love every little detail you find...I think I don't want to know before and better find out about it ingame.

But yeah...so...still here speculating about the state of their technology...how advanced are they compared to the milky way races. They have visors, apparently and weapons and that white thing on Jaals arm probably is some kind of omni-tool.
But we here on earth in the real life have some very amazing tech as well (smart phones and watches, etc) and still are not really quite there yet to spend our summer holiday on Mars.

Regardless of the squadmates, they stated several times they aren't. They have no reason to lie about it.

Personally? I doubt that they all are bad.

I generally find "race X is like that and race y is like that" boring/lazy...
I mean, look at us humans. We are one species but gosh, how many cultures do we have? And they all are sooo different. Different rituals/traditions/food/clothing/.....
There are good people and bad people and everything in between.
There are countries/cultures with democray/royalty/dictatorship/etc pp.

I hope they give the alien races some more "inner-species" variation... (is that the right english word?)

The original Questionnaire leak mentioned 7 squad mates so that makes it sound like the original plan was 7, which has since become 6 with the widely reported cut.

I honestly wouldn't expect another squad mate if I were you!

Me neither, but it's always fun to speculate on what could happen  

A fair point, but do note we are really close to launch and getting character bios now. I wouldn't mind a 7th but it seems highly unlikely at this point.

Nah, people started believing he was part of the squad from the trailer already. The devs also said we would get a new alien squadmate. Along with the screenshot released this week, it'd be obvious, expecially because from the rest of the squad we don't have a sniper.

Yeah I agree, at this point it seem like only the six will be officially confirmed (well Jaal still isn't, but it seems to be a safe bet he's a squaddie). Unless they're gonna tease us again with another 2 second clip of a new squadmate in the next trailer. That would be too cruel lol

I don't see how. The toy with the gun is a good hint, because it's the same thing with Liam, with his favorite weapon. Same goes for the shot they released. Also, shinobi did confirm it on Gaf that he's a squadmate.
Also, while they like teasing, I don't think they'd intentionally troll the fanbase in making them believing he's part of the squad while he's not.
