As far as Jaal or any companion I'm not romancing in a playthrough getting with someone else...I'm fine with it. I like the idea of them having their own desires and being independent, and just doing things I may not know about unless I take the time to look and really pay attention.

Yeah and as an asari-lover I feel like sometimes their own writers do them a disservice. But by ME3 I think the depiction of the species as a whole was generally better. By the way, here's hoping we walk into a strip club in MEA and there are both guy and girl strippers, imagine that?! I'm also not in favor of Jaal romancing anyone but Ryder because I'd like the relationship to be rather special, especially since it's between two species who have never met. I wouldn't even mind if there's a slight taboo about them getting together; that would feed into the whole "love against impossible odds" angle that I'm such a sucker for lol I actually quite like the Asari too - there's a lot that's interesting about their culture, and I dig the fact that they're big on diplomacy and scholarship, and they're pretty badass. But, as you say, it was like the writers just couldn't help themselves with the blue space babe trope... again, and again, and again... I even think I'll like PeeBee a lot, but... she was so prevalent in the marketing at first I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her every time she appeared. And Liara gave me Asari trauma.  (I actually liked her character a lot at first, but it felt like she was so favored by the writers it ruined her character a little for me. I understand it's largely because she can't die in the game, but still.) So yeah, having either of my space boyfriends (I'm hoping for Jaal and Liam for my Rydettes) hook up with an Asari of all things would just annoy me! But then, I prefer LIs not hook up with each other in general. If that happens I prefer it be for characters who aren't romances (like Aveline and Donnic, or Gabby and Ken.) Agree on all fronts, and yes, Gabby and Ken, somehow I always forget about them! Their romance was so charming! I love how they were such close friends who clearly cared for each other deeply, and that just sort of evolved into something else. Doesn't always have to, but it did with them, and it DEFINITELY didn't come out of nowhere. Adorable! |

True, but Andromeda is supposed to not have an overarching threat so they won't really have that excuse this time. Agreed, no need for anything to just suddenly happen. Let it progress over the game like Bull/Dorian did. |
