Yeah I could see him sending her off to make sure humanity ruled Andromeda, but when she joins Ryder and meets up with everyone, and family/romantic relationships form, she might deter from her father's wishes and stay by Ryder's side. Sort of like Miranda resigning at the end of ME2, but her choice would be to betray her father or the ones she come to love. I still think we meet Jaal at gunpoint because humans have already started to terrorize the new aliens. Hmm, the way Ryder is introduced to Jaal in that scene makes that idea kind of weird. The Angaran woman kind of talks like this particular group of Angara haven't met a human before. Otherwise why the 'human from another galaxy'? I know some humans came before we did, but they would still count as 'humans from another galaxy'. Why the distinction for Ryder? Then again, this is a trailer line. Who knows what the actual context is or if the line even actually goes like that at that moment. It sounded like she was reading a description of him given to her, and the Pathfinder title was what made him different. The human part sounded almost bitter. Like she was not impressed.

I suspect if Ryder does not introduce him to a human LI, he will go into strict father mode 100% over the norm, so I could see him being pretty mean to Jaal. I have a deep feeling that we won't be introducing our RyDad to a LI. I get the feeling he'll be closer to a Living MacGuffin than a major character. Just a feeling tho... Regardless... A real shame, as he is the most interesting character introduced so far, in my opinion. ... ... ... Except for Jaal, of course.

Is it possible humans we don't know have gotten to Andromeda long before us? Perhaps through some warp in space-time? I mean, this is science fiction. 2. Perhaps they are simply referring to us as "newly arrived" to Andromeda, versus the humans who arrived before us (who were also part of the initiative). I'm still trying to figure out where she gets the info lol

And not able to be interacted with. I think most of what we're going to learn about Alec is through his children and colleagues, rather than from him directly.

I know we have a lot of rescue missions and something will probably go wrong.

I can't picture his role in this being so mundane after they built him up to be so impressive and involved in humanity's first steps into the galaxy. And his involvement in the creation of SAM, which definitely isn't regulation in any way. I don't know, he just gives me vibes. On that note, does anyone else have a suspicion that SAM is going to bite us in the ass at some point? If I remember correctly, SAM can literally influence our brain. It would be...kind of a problem if something was to take control of that AI.

Good morning. I feel better. Just wanted to tell you all how much I adore Jaal Ama Darav (Kierro) 's icon. Everytime I see his/her (why must most of the world use gendered pronouns? We Finns don't and it has worked for us for thousands of years), I get stuck to that look at Scott's eyes when he sees Jaal. That was the moment I knew there must be a GIANT M/M-romance going on. Must be. I can feel it. THAT'S WHAT LOVE AT THE FIRST SIGHT LOOKS LIKE. Yes, I'm a romantic sap.Aghgh not having gendered pronouns would make my life so much easier. And... I... agree?? Though that might be controversial?? I mean that Scott in the trailer is kissing Cora, so... but... maybe it's just that I got the impression JAAL liked what he saw, even if Scott didn't. But in fairness, I got the sense Solas was flirting with my Lavellan the first time I played, even though I know he wasn't an option. BUT... then again, he was at one time and it was scrapped. So who knows. With Solas it was the tone of his voice. Could just be the voice actor though... and with Jaal we don't even have a voice yet. But that one scene... yeah. Believe me, as a transman it makes my life somewhat easier than my English-speaking fellows who are always in pain about being gendered wrong everywhere. We don't use Sir ans Ma'am either which is a blessing. That went out of fashion somewhere around 1960.

I'm still trying to figure out where she gets the info lol I think... And I mean this is all speculation but... If we are going with the Royalty/Someone of importance theory, which I am for now, I interpreted the woman as an advisor directly speaking to Jaal before the scene where Jaal saunters down the stairs. Like... Jaal lives somewhere very isolated so he hasn't heard of these humans yet, or he was away on an expedition of some sort, and she's directly informing him. Then he brushes past her and strides right into Ryder's face. I mean... That's pretty bold of him, all things considered. I'm thinking Jaal will be proper but he'll be very confident at the same time, with a bit of curiosity mixed in. If we do go with the isolation idea he could be bored of it all and decides he wants (needs) to go travel the stars with Ryder. ...Or I could just be reading way too far into a second long voice line. Who knows?

Who knows? Hmmm... I could see that. Also even if he's proper, we are invading, and he might be subtly warning us not to mess with his people, as well as watning a closer look at this curious man he's heard of maybe from his adviser who was keeping tabs. I think Vetra's "please you aren't going out there alone are you?" line is just before Ryder steps out to meet him. Best way to make contact peacefully is to go alone and unarmed. Maybe he was told he had to meet Jaal and knew what he was, so he did what would be the safest way of approaching this powerful leader. kissed by fire I think maybe if SAM goes through any changes or develops morals maybe he will tell Ryder the truth and the father uses SAM to try and control you. I hope you'll be okay with whatever happens.

So I hope SAM is similar to EDI... but then, I don't want his journey to just be a rehash of her's. I adored EDI, but I want SAM to be his own character. Maybe if RyDad does try something, SAM has to make a choice between his loyalty to Alec and his loyalty to Scott/Sara? *rubs hands* I do love drama and angst. I probably will be okay. I have a good support system in place If things get intense, I can give myself the proper self-care. I really, really appreciate your concern, however. I'm touched

I'm touched Yeah I could see SAM developing a genuine care for Ryder because of what he feels from them all the time. Not quite like EDI who wanted to be human, but a being that wants to break his coding for the sake of someone he comes to care for would be pretty nice. Especially since the mom was involved and maybe she knew her husband was up to something and added some safety mech. Anytime! I care about all my friends and I can't stand anyone unhappy or in pain.

Good morning my lovely Jaal fangirls and fanboys! A thought crossed my mind..... I really hope that Alec has banged a few aliens in his lifetime so that he won't be too disappointed in our Ryder. "Daddy, this is Jaal!" "Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

Jaal sounds really cool, even if most of this is speculation. I can't wait to learn more about him! I really wonder what his personality will be like... According to some devs and the voice actor for Scott Ryder, he's dapper and a Sir. Basically a gentlemen who is dashing and charming. We'll find out more when we actually hear him talk though lol Sounds so sophisticated! I can't wait to meet him! Hurry up and release info about him drive, can't you see we're desperate?

Terve Gendered pronouns do bother me as well, no matter how many years I use English I'm still not used to them. I somewhat always mix them up when writing English and have to check them before posting, otherwise I'd be misgendering everyone all the time. I also feel like I'm being mean without having gender marker on, does make it bit hard to refer someone without. I'm girl though, I just feel bit silly having gender marker on forum, sorry if it has been confusing someone ^^; And I really like Jaal Ama Darav 's icon as well, best scene in the trailer and I don't have to watch trailer to be reminded of that again All fingers and toes crossed for m/m Jaal romance.

[snip] I've mentioned it before that I was thinking about maybe writing something myself concerning ME and I did. Uploaded it on FFNet because I don't have an invitation for archive of our own. It's not much, it's in English which was a bit hard for me to do...I think if I write again I will stick to German...makes it a lot easier for me to express myself but still I had some fun and hope another person here might enjoy it as well. Since I was inspired by you lot to give it a try at least. I read it and loved the imagery! I also really loved the way you described Jaal and how he acted. I'd totally read a sequel, if you're up for it - in English or German, although I think your English is really good, so no need to sell yourself short! Thanks for sharing! Okay,....so this was pages ago, I realize that, I just wanted to thank you and everyone else who commented on it Thanks guys! I really appreciate it (all smiley me!) And to Kaazmiin Glad you liked it and I might give it another go when the game's out and it's story inspires me to write more. English or German...maybe I end up translating my own stories then though I usually find that it's not so easily done. Both languages give you different tools to express yourself. Though I think that my use of the German language is heavily influenced by the English word order since I sometimes use translated expressions...like saying something along the lines of "Soll ich dir eine Hand reichen?" (should I lend you a hand?) when it would actually be a lot easier to just say "Soll ich dir helfen?" - my brain is weird like that ) Anyway...I'm rambling, sorry. But...being on the subject of language...I'd like to know...are you going to play the game in English or German? I realized yesterday while talking with a friend about the trilogy and Dragon Age that I haven't thought about what voice actors they were going to choose for the German release of MEA. Though I usually play in English anyway. I really can't get over the form of adress in German. In English it's just 'you', no matter the relationship between people...while there was no "Du" for Shepards team, as far as I could tell. Only the very formal "Sie" Even when romancing someone. I understand that it would be a lot of additional work having the voice actors voice two different set of lines, one using the more formal form of adress and one using the more informal one and then integrate it into game and looking for the right point to change from one to the other...but still...it's just a real turn off for me. I will admit that the German voices are actually well picked and sound really good compared to the original and I could see where they were trying to go with them...but still I thought that something was missing. Usually the 'alieness' for Garrus, Tali and Legion with their kind of flang/tone/synthethic noises underneath. (I haven't listened to every single voice so I can't really tell for all the others. Though Thane and Grunt were okay.) I don't want to discredit the hard working going into it but as a general rule I go for the original English version in a lot of media if I can. And I feel like I have to apologize again. I'm simply assuming that English is your second language when it could be the other way around But still I'm interested in your reply (and from other people, if possible)

Oh, HMMMMMMMMMMM. You may be on to something here. 1. I'm still trying to figure out where she gets the info lol I always assumed that Ryder was captured, brought to the leaders at gunpoint and he tried to explain the situation, saying that he's a human from another galaxy and he's a Pathfinder, and then tried to explain what that means and what the AI is about. Then Jaal comes in to meet him, and when he asks just who the hell Scott is, the woman tells him, and that would explain her weird tone. "He's a ' human' from another galaxy. A Pathfinder." She says those words as if they're foreign to her, and almost as if she disapproves or doesn't quite believe him. I'd say it's obvious she's quoting someone. And the way she says pathfinder, idk it almost sounds like she's mocking Scott. That still doesn't explain why they don't know what a human or a pathfinder is though, so I don't know. That was just how I imagined the scene would play out, obviously it's just speculation lol

And I feel like I have to apologize again. I'm simply assuming that English is your second language when it could be the other way around But still I'm interested in your reply (and from other people, if possible) No need to apologize! It's exactly as you said. English is my second language, but I'm currently doing my Master degree in English and American Studies, same with my boyfriend, so we both consume mostly English media. I have yet to see a movie/game/etc where I would not perceive the English VA performance as superior. It's not for lack of effort, but there's simply not such a huge market for talented voice actors in Germany. I have never played the German voice over version of any Dragon Age game, but I watched a few YouTube videos of the German DA:O out of curiosity... and was infinitely glad I didn't choose to play this version. So many iconic lines are lost in translation (i.e. swooping is bad ). I first played the original Mass Effect in German though, and at least the female Shepard was nice to listen to. Her voice was not as recognizable as Hale's, but a bit softer, which I actually appreciated. Oh and Joker! I love Joker's German VA (but also the English one). However, the overall disparity in quality, issues with the translation of jokes/pronouns/etc. and the wish to experience the game exactly the way it was intended by the developers (and be able to talk about it on global forums) made me switch to English VO for all non-German games (which means basically all games, or, does anyone still know Sacred or Drakensang?) Edit: I just remembered, I caught a German episode of Game of Thrones on TV last week, and was curious about the translation and VA work, so I watched it for a bit, and when they actually translated Jon Snow's name into Jon Schnee, I almost fell from my chair and didn't know whether to laugh or to cry...
