Have you guys thought of who to take as squadmates? I usually change around a bit, though I have my preferences. I always have my LI in the team too. At the moment I think Jaal and Vetra are going to be my go to squaddies, but Peebee and even Cora might be nice picks too. I'm not really thinking of classes with these. I plan to switch a lot, but I think my favorite setup will be my Ryder as a boptic/tech hybrid sniper, with Cora and Drack. Ian said on twitter it's a pretty fun combo. |

It's a way to feel like my character and her/his LI have had a lot of time together to know better each others. |

When I'm further into the game or on subsequent playthroughs, I also always take the LI and (one of) my Ryder's designated best friend(s), but in the beginning of my first playthrough I'll probably take the characters I feel might have the most interesting dialogue on that specific mission, so I have a chance to get to know everyone.

I always play games on normal the first time through, and then if I liked the game enough to replay it, and if the gameplay itself was good, I'll do a second playthrough on hard. However, I hate "hard" difficulties that basically just turn enemies into damage sponges - I feel it's a cheap and artificial way to increase difficulty. I'm much more of a fan of making the PC more squishy, i.e. a headshot from me will kill or seriously damage an enemy, but a headshot from an enemy will one-hit-kill me just the same. It keeps the gameplay tense instead of turning it into a boring battle of attrition. As for squadmates, I try to switch quite a bit just to get the most out of dialog and such, but I also tend to be biased and drag my favs (and LI) out the most often... In ME2 it was usually me, Garrus and Zaeed, and in ME3 it was Garrus and Javik. It's safe to say that if Jaal is a squadmate he'll be on my team pretty much 24/7.  |

First run, I always like to rotate the squad, just to get a feel for the characters. Whoever my LI is has a permanent spot tho. I'll be going with a tech focused Sara, Engi mixed with Infiltrator if possible. |

My first Shepard was engineer, but I found that playstyle boring. I didn't know fun before going Vanguard with my second Shepard.
I'm still wondering a bit what kind of role Jaal will have in combat. I guess sniper, but what kind of skills will he have..

I think I'll have Jaal in my squad on every mission, and switch between Vetra and Drack because I think I'm going to like them a lot, and I live for squad banter. (although I think Vetra and Peebee might have some hilarious banter) I'll probably play as an adept or vanguard although I'm thinking maybe sentinel? Idk we'll see.
As for difficulty think I'll go with hardcore, although I might switch to normal if I keep dying and it's downright annoying instead of challenging.

I never did get around to playing a pure engineer Shepard, but for my next trilogy run I'll definitely do one. I always felt like I could get away with not having a biotic, or not having a pure soldier, but those tech powers so come in handy (for my play style anyway). Plus I love techie/hacker characters! My Jaal-mancer will totally be a nerdy engineer type. But with a sword because space ninja (which is why I'm really hoping Jaal's a ranged biotic - that would complement her on the battlefield nicely). But I'm still planning to roll my Liam-mancer first - and since he sounds like a close-range engineer I'll likely have her be the ranged biotic in that playthrough.
But yeah, I definitely tend to favor my LI as a squadmate. They're typically a near permanent member of the party, but then I'll rotate out the others. Usually whoever makes the most sense for the mission. A Remnant vault mission gets PeeBee, dealing with someone like Sloane Kelley I 'll bring Vetra, but something where I'm investigating the Initiative will feature Cora or Liam, and so on. Though in later playthroughs I just bring whoever I never have before, because their 'what the fuck?' dialogue can fun too.
