Oh wow.... THANK YOU!!!! I am honored that you read them! And so happy you enjoyed them ^^ Alin Lavellan, the MC from "Lover Lay Down" was basically like my (head)canon Inquisitor. He has a special place in my heart. I think now, looking back, the story is very melodramatic, but it helped me get through a dark time in my life. Lover Lay Down was my favorite actually. I didn't think it was melodramatic at all. I love all of Artemis' work, but my favorite by far is The Tale of Calowen Bright-Hair, Adventurer, Thief, Lover. That one just grabbed my heart and wouldn't let go.

Same... Cassandra, Jack, Miranda... :-\ We should form a support group. ... I seem to notice that most Gay players feel like they don't get enough romance, and Lesbian players feel like they never get the romances they wanted. I think both are valid, I just found it interesting and wanted to point it out.

Lover Lay Down was my favorite actually. I didn't think it was melodramatic at all. I love all of Artemis ' work, but my favorite by far is The Tale of Calowen Bright-Hair, Adventurer, Thief, Lover. That one just grabbed my heart and wouldn't let go. I just read all the DA ones as DA is my true love when it comes to Bioware, I don't consider myself a fandom person much beyond pre-release hype. But I am kind of in the DA fandom. I've torn through every piece of DA media as soon as I found it. I just find the entire series fascinating, and that fascination only increased as we learned more and more about the lore.

I was really trying to show what depression feels like. Guess it was successful Well, firstly Solas was my favorite romance, so as a gay dude I love any M!Lavellan/Solas stuff. So that would of made me love it regardless. Secondly, I've always struggled with depression, and that captured it perfectly. You never get hungry, you just sit in one room all day. You turn away friends and family for your solitude, and that just makes you slip deeper. But what really breaks people is that idea that no one cares, that you are alone. That is what makes us slip into solitude, and push people away. It's impossible to not feel like you'd be a bother, or that they just don't want to hear it. It was a well done portrayal of depression.

I'm sorry the portrayal hit so close to home, but happy that it read as authentic to you *hugs* I actually had plans to continue their story to some extent but tbh Trespasser killed that for me. I just couldn't deal with how that ended. Just was way fucked up, man, and yes I played that with Alin, and fortunately (or unfortunately) the mod still carried over.

I just knew it wasn't happening. So I stopped caring. Since I played the trilogy backward (3 first, then 1 and 2) I knew it would never happen. First time i played 3 I thought Joker and EDI were weird (a little too "Weird Science" for me, especially with the super sexy sexbot portrayal of EDI) but I was like, okay whatever. But playing through the whole trilogy and seeing that bond between Shep and Joker, how it's really the one thread that remains unbroken... it's weird they never thought to make that a romance.

Just no Hollywood-sappy-teen-drama romances though (GODS no...). Give me a 'Ghost' true-love romance... minus the death (no more Thanes thank-you).

The worst part is, he basically felt Shep would never look at him that way and gave up on anything happening, so when Shep finally did look at him, his heart was taken.

We should form a support group. ... I seem to notice that most Gay players feel like they don't get enough romance, and Lesbian players feel like they never get the romances they wanted. I think both are valid, I just found it interesting and wanted to point it out. I know you mean well, but be careful of lines of thought like this. Random chatter is most definitely not some indication of what "most" think. For example Final Fantasy XIII was in fact overall well received and its reviews and polls routinely contradict any notion it's "hated" by fans of the series. Even Metroid: Other M which definitely got a mixed reception in fact is not as loathed as universally as some of its loudest detractors declare. From my perspective on the gay front, the fact is we are a rather small minority. I do not think it's reasonable to expect out of proportion options. I appreciate options of course, but I don't think it's reasonable to expect that. Potential romance partners in real life are much less numerous and I see no reason why it should be wildly different in an RPG. When the romances are as shallow as in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim I do support the whole "everyone is bi" thing. That isn't a jab at Skyrim at all. TES games are all about role playing your own story. The central narrative tends to be weaker while the world building tends to be extraordinary. That series let's the player fill in the blanks. On the extreme other end of the spectrum I'd say it would be outright unreasonable to expect same sex romance in a series like The Witcher when the protagonist is an established character. For Mass Effect, which falls somewhere in between those two extremes, I appreciate the options. I would not claim 'we' don't get 'enough' options though. I'm thrilled when they are there, but extreme over-representation isn't something I would clamor for.
