He looks more interested than angry in that scene, I think. So maybe just something like, "Why are you here, small earthling?". Yeah like those scenes where someone just walks towards someone/something while everyone is criticizing who/what they are walking towards. I think being interested in Ryder/humans in general will be his reason for joining the squad. I will be glad if he is genuine about his interest in being a liaison with the human allies, rather than made to work with the PC. It would be nice to have a friendly face in Andromeda.

Just fled from a foolhardy rabbit hole spiral into the Political Discussion thread. Never again. Need some cheering up and reaffirmation in humanity. *plants blanket fort in this thread and runs off to find some beautiful Jaal fanart on tumblr* *big huggles* *makes a pot of tea* *soothes Prince* There, there, you stay out of the nasty thread of politics... Come stay with us in the delicious Jaal and Liam threads where it is safe, warm, and welcoming!

Definitely, but part of me is thinking Bioware will just create a common enemy and Jaal will just be like "We must work together to bring down this foe." Come to think of it have we had any squadmates that joined the PC purely out of interest and not to stop the Big bad/mini baddies?

Is everyone interested in Jaal because of the "unkown?" Or, it's "forbidden?" Just the fact that he can fall for you is a bad boy thing that he should be resisting, you have no idea what diseases you could be giving each other? I mean, I get his appeal. Scars, monocles are sexy, pretty eyes. The broad shoulders and back is something I like about my husband. But I'm wondering why so many people jumped on the Jaal train when we hardly know anything about him!

Obliviousmiss, I'm probably in the minority here, I have no interest in sexing him. I'm more so interested in his species/why he wants to work with the Pathfinder. Plus, this race looks pretty cool tbh. I like new shiny things.

Because he's new and different. Because he's the first alien I've seen so far I'd want my Ryder to flirt with (including the ones brought from the Milky Way). Because they did a good job with the Garrus and Thane romances and I am hoping for more of that. Hopefully without the dead wife and dying.

*Sweats* >_> I just... think....he's hot......... But also, I really love interspecies relationship tropes - like what tensions it could bring and how the characters involved navigate them. That's what initially drew me to romance Garrus, the fact taht they fit so well together was a huge bonus . On top of that I have this weird hang up of my PCs never dating within their race/species if I can help it (with one exception, but that one doesn't really count). Ah, I think my reasons are a little shallow U_U But yeah, he's mysterious, part of a new race we haven't seen before and his introduction has piqued my interest. But I defs wanna see what he's like in game before I get too invested.

I think a lot people like the idea of romancing a sexy alien. For me, if Liam is available, then he will be my first LI. After I get to know Jaal and if I like him, he will be my 2nd, if available. I just want to know his culture and what his society is like. I did love my Garrus and Thane romances.

For me... it's because he's pretty. I really am that shallow, yes. But I must add that the idea of getting to meet a new race and form connections with them, à la Pandora style, has me hooked.

Jaal is one of the only entirely new elements revealed so far, and I think everyone was looking forward to new aliens. That was most of the reason going to a new galaxy was exciting. I personally find it hard to get jazzed over the same old Milky Way races and for a while I was worried about just how much "new" we were going to get. Jaal represents that newness for me, since he's going to be a squadmate, a sort of voice for the new race and galaxy, and possibly a LI. I'm interested in all the Angara as a whole and the Kett too, but Jaal is a solid, named figure to get hyped over. Plus I know I'll get attached to him because I get attached to most of my team in BioWare games.
As for romance, I plan to go for him because I've wanted an Andromeda alien LI ever since the announcement that the game would take place there. It just so happens that I find Jaal's design appealing too, which is a nice bonus. But I would have romanced a Kett if we had a Kett squadmate LI even if they're more "alien" looking. I just think it's an inherently cool and interesting dynamic and, unlike many it seems, I'm not all that concerned about the looks of the person my character in a video game is banging.
So that's what it is for me! It's really no wonder this thread is moving fast even taking away attraction to Jaal. There's so much more to speculate here than there is with any of the other revealed squadmates, who are already familiar other than us not knowing their particular personalities and personal stories.

So that's what it is for me! This sums up my feeling exactly. I don't particularly care about an LI's looks - personality, voice, relationship to my character and general story arc are all more important. Though it's certainly nice if I happen to find them attractive to boot. I happen to find Jaal really pretty. That's a bonus. But I'd be here even if he wasn't because of all the stuff in Rynnju's post, and it's fun to speculate on a complete wild card like this. (Also, the devs have been teasing about him, while remaining frustratingly tight-lipped. That just adds to my curiosity.)

Even if he is not a romance, he is more interesting than, well, the only other male character who is not related to the PC. I derive a no small amount of enjoyment from virtual love life, and I prefer it to be as exotic and as much removed from real life as possible. So, no alternatives so far.

One part of the interest in Jaal certainly come from the parallels to Garrus, at least visually. Not sure how many Garrusmancer now want Jaal, but I think quite a few. The other thing that makes him attractive is that he is an alien. Who wants humans? I see them every day and they are boring.

I've always been attracted to things different and I find the humans, well kinda too "mainstream"(do I use that right? english is not my first language). Reason why in DA I prefer the elves over humans and in ME aliens, they're new and exciting and more importantly different. I'm weird I know. In irl if there were aliens around like in Mass Effect, I would definitely go for one.

Scars, monocles are sexy, pretty eyes. The broad shoulders and back is something I like about my husband. But I'm wondering why so many people jumped on the Jaal train when we hardly know anything about him! I don't think you can lump an entire group of people together... it never ends well. You just end up generalizing... As for me, he and his people look interesting; they remind me of several different Star Wars species that I love as well as the Na'vi from the Avatar movie. Their planet looks beautiful and Nature-y and so do they. So I'm very curious about their culture. Since via romance leaks... It appears there will be a good chance Jaal will be a romantic option for my Scott, so naturally I've taken an interest. When you play a male character and hear that an NPC may be a romance option you usually have to jump all over it because it is usually one of just two options, so you hope against hope it will be a good one. So far I am content and curious about Jaal; I see nothing I don't like, and he looks, well, interesting. I don't find him "sexually appealing"; that's not my bag. He's not hideous, and he's interesting-looking; I like his eyes, and his expression seems to suggest he's more curious (and perhaps a bit condescending towards humans) than anything. Just think it's wrong to assume it's always about sex for most people.

I love human/elf relationships as well as human/dwarf (and human/qunari) in Dragon Age. To me this is like one of those. Now I've never romanced an alien before but I'm looking forward to Jaal as well as maybe Vetra and Peebee.
