Bioware's strategic diversity

Shouldn't we allow a Canadian game to have a Canadian perspective? How big is the Chinese minority in Canada? How does Chinese art portray Canadian culture?

Pretty big if you are in Toronto or Vancouver, maybe Calgary. Not so big elsewhere.

The game is (probably) made with an American audience in mind though.

The audience shouldn't be the point though. If you are going to make a game with characters representing the human race, represent ALL of it.

The first game at least had a few East and South Asians..  They were dropped in later games for some reason. Never been an Asian preset though.

Star trek has always had people from every race in its cast. This choice was never made to pander to an non-existant audience or to respect quotas that did not existed at that time. It was made because Star Trek was a show about human kind, and the best we could inspire to. Showing a vast spectrum of race/nationality/personality.

Mass Effect has always been about humanity.
Mass Effect 1 was about Humanity saving the citadel
Mass Effect 2 was human business too
Mass effect 3 was human versus human
At no point we see any discrimination for racial reason because there are the alien races to interact with or kill.
There was in Mass Effect 1 plots about transhumanism and biotic discrimination.

Mass Effect Andromeda is no different, it is about humankind survival first, or at least it is what they advertised.
It makes sense to have a wide spectrum of human individual when we talk about human kind, it is as simple as that, the contrary would have been way weirder.
So yes Bioware likes to create open-minded games for a wide pannel of public. But the choice of character is way more linked to the game plot aka humanity survival than race/sexuality pandering.

I'm a big RE fan. But between the 1st person and no returning characters (coupled with the 1st hour demo I played on the X Bone), I decided to pass on Resi 7.
