When I re-watched yesterday's trailer, the close up of his face threw me. I mean I was of two minds.
First Mind: OMG cool looking villain with awesome voice.
Second Mind: I AM GROOT!
Now that was just my thought when I paused it on the close up and having recently watched Guardians of the Galaxy again xD

I just hope we get a bit more substance from this antagonist (no not that kind of substance) rather than constant death threats.
Looking at him he appears to be 100% organic so my bet is that he may just be a "higher" Khett that thinks humans are going to subjugate his kind. Hoping we can have an actual conversation with him.
Also for being what looks like the main antagonist I'm surprised most places are not even talking about The Archon that much.

Hope he is a villain with a reason, the only villains with reasons were Saren and Loghain, the rest were

- Roaaar, I'm a Reaper, I'm going to destroy everyone because I want to
I expect him to be something like "They are a threat to the Kett so they must be eliminated", but that "I'm going to contact them and give them a good scare" doesn't give good vibes.

I am getting very very familiar vibes here with the Archon,like I have seen it all before somewhere.
I predict he is a Saren type villain, more based on religion (leader of a cult or maybe Kett have some sort of Theocracy). We will fight him because he probably wishes to have exclusive access and control of all Remnant tech in Andromeda Galaxy so he can basically rule the whole Galaxy itself.
So apart from being strangers in a strange land we will have to race against time ,as we did in a way with Saren , to prevent him and his followers reaching his goals.

I hope The Archon is an antagonist, but not necessarily the villian. I'll explain myself better: I hope he is an antagonist in the sense he will be against us. But maybe he is like the president of the Kett, or the intergalactic chief of security (Turian First Contact war style), etc. and he is doing his job protecting kett space. Maybe the theocratical religious villain ( commandercryptarch pointed out) is another kett, like the one who appears "floating in the air" in the first cinematic trailer: But maybe it's just my desire for something complex to be true. I would love also to have our father or our sibling as antagonists too so...  |

Bioware have said that they don't want the story to have that level of urgency in the story as it's at a direct opposition to the whole notion of exploring so i'm doubtful on that. I'd hope that his motives are a bit further than control. In fact i'd be quite happy if the 'Scourge' was nothing to do with the Kett and they're expanding/conquering worlds in order to gain access to the Remnant tech in order to find a way to stop it and ensure their own survival. Kinda akin to the Human-Forerunner war in the Halo Universe where Humans pushed into Forerunner territory and started a war with the Forerunners because they were trying to run from the Flood. |
