I hope The Archon is an antagonist, but not necessarily the villian. I'll explain myself better: I hope he is an antagonist in the sense he will be against us. But maybe he is like the president of the Kett, or the intergalactic chief of security (Turian First Contact war style), etc. and he is doing his job protecting kett space. I'd kind of like it if the Kett are just worried that we're going to wipe them out so we can colonize their part of the system. Let the game keep track of where you're building colonies and whether you're seizing ground that belonged to Andromedans before you came along - if not, maybe give us a chance to make peace once the Kett have had a chance to watch us in action and judge our motives.

Yes, it would be nice to have antagonists with an unusual and interesting motivation for once. Anyone remember the Kafers from 2300 AD? An insectoid race that declared war on humanity almost immediately. Turns out in the end that they were just totally scared of humans. Kafer drones in their natural state were not very intelligent - only under aggression and stress did their brains use its full capacity, transforming a Kafer temporarily into a very cunning adversary - or great scientist. It was their equivalent of an adrenaline burst. Seeing that humans always operated at top mental capacity, the Kafers concluded that humans must be in a constant state of high aggression, and so decided to strike first before the monsters came for them. I hope we get a good motive behind the "rah rah evil strangers burn".

You're probably trolling, but I think it'd be cool if Scott can gayromance a villain. Bring on the plot-relevant gay romances with drama!

Despite all the joking, this thread should not have been buried because of silliness. He is a very unique villain and not really a villain at all it seems. He has his own issues and we get to experience a story solely based on him. I think he is becoming one of the most fascinating new characters in MEA!

I'm honestly glad we don't have an overarching villain *that we know of* like Sovereign in this game. I for one can't wait to see what makes the Archon so *bad*. I think people forget that we are essentially invading this galaxy and it is only natural they would be hostile to us.

I think people forget that we are essentially invading this galaxy and it is only natural they would be hostile to us. It might not even be that they see us as invaders, they could simply be freaked out since we came from beyond edge of their galaxy which might have seemed impossible to them. ("Damnit, they came from outside, their technology levels must be insane" *starts searching for something to protect themselves in vaults*)

Can't help but getting Cory vibes from him - and I'm pretty sure he wants something like S.A.M, given that he seems pretty fascinated by Ryder ("I know why you're so special...", tech and remnants. Maybe he wants to have a hivemind like tech taht switches skills for his people to gain more powahrrrr over Andromeda....

It seems if we follow these b-quests about him, we'll learn more about him, his motives and why some Kett don't follow him. I keep remembering that quote from an earlier trailer. "We're the aliens" so we need to remember we can't just think we can conquer anything because it looks good to us. That's exactly what the "bad guys" we fight in other games do. Now it's our turn to experience it.

Can we kill him now? Or slam dunk in its halo? I'm calling for a Ryder/Liam alley-oop. ... sorry but at our current state of information, this is pretty much all one can say about this character.

Lack of information is no excuse! It is completely possible to fill a >300 page thread with next to nothing to go on. That said, I also think Bioware is going to depict the Archon as some kind of religious leader, as others have stated before. There are not only the Kett enemy types called "Annointed" and "Chosen" in the trailers, there is also this screenshot: With a bit of squinting you could interpret these cables(?) leading from the Archon's back as wings, while his hoop stronlgy resembles a halo. Religious symbolism if there ever was one, though Bioware might have overdone it a bit by the analogies with angels (either them, or I just did ). It's hard to tell, but the background looks like a Remnant vault (this blueish glow). Imagine the Kett revere the Remnants as some kind of divine beings, like the Hanar with their Enkindlers. And then Ryder stumbles into their hallowed grounds and tries to steal their technology, or whatever they wanted there in the first place, so the Kett are going to take vengeance for this sacrilege. Humans seem to be good at pissing off new aliens when they first meet, and insulting someone's religious feelings could be a strong motivation not to like our wonderful species.

I... admit, I find his appearance more comical than I do threatening. I'm really hoping he isn't the actual, full Big Bad.

There seems to be little love for our villain, not much traffic in this thread. New race, involved in a major plot line and he even has his own Funco Pop figure, and nobody has posted the first decent look we got at his face yet. I wonder why he looks so different from the other Kett, hoop aside. The whole facial structure looks different; he has not only less bone plating, but his nose has another shape and more nostrils, for example.

I guess it's hard to look intimidating with a round and broad face like his. The hoop doesn't help, either. Strange design choices, some of the earlier concept arts looked way more alien and interesting, but then they decided to make him look more human-like (and slightly silly, imo). Can't be all for technical reasons, it's hard to tell what they were aiming at with his looks.

Have to admit, I do like the idea he might be some kind of religious Kett figure and/or evil Space Pope.

Have to admit, I do like the idea he might be some kind of religious Kett figure and/or evil Space Pope. He IS a religious prophet. Think about his soldiers: anointed??? Chosen????? Destined???????????????????? How could they be called these names if the Archon wasn't the leader of a religious organization?
