Well, since its like we are all gathered around a campfire and sharing our thoughts on why it is we like the romances, I thought I'd throw my marshmallows into the fire (I don't like marshmallows). I haven't played Dragon Age or any other BioWare game, but I have played the Mass Effect games incessantly from the very start, from 2007. I love them. All three equally. They are my favorite video games of all time. But I never actually got into, or started to really enjoy the romance side of the games until 2012 with ME3, where a male Shepard could finally be able to romance a male character in the game. I never bothered with romance in the other two, since I kind of liked to play Shepard how I think I'd act in that situation, roleplay and what not. And while I made a careful effort to befriend my crew without jumping into the sack with them, I never took things further, since I kind of just had it in my head that my Shepard was gay and obviously wasn't interested until Kaidan finally got his act together and confessed his feelings. And I friggin' loved their romance. ^ All the above is maybe why this time around the romance is a big thing for me. It never was during the prerelease for the others, because I was in a position of being excited by and for other aspects of the game, as well as thinking I'd likely not get any m/m romance. But with Andromeda I know there are m/m romances, and this time I want to be able to enjoy them like everyone else in so much that I want to feel that the gay male section of the fanbase are getting equal amounts of content with the romances as everyone else. Or just a decently written and meaningful m/m romance. I'm of course hyped as hellfire for every other aspect about the game, but I am equally as invested in the romances. Not hyped, since I am in the current stage of worry about the content for m/m romances at the moment, but if BioWare deliver the goods, expect me to not stay quiet in the romance threads. Oh, and yeah if the content isn't good, also expect me to not stay quiet Ditto lol

Well, to revive this thread, I think it's safe to say Jaal is now officially confirmed. Whether he's bisexual remains to be seen.

Actually went into Dragon Age Origins without knowing that you can choose romance in the game. I wasn't aware that mechanic like that existed in video games- apart from Sims and some flash dating sims ^^; I was quite happy to find out though, in RPGs it's nice that you can plan out your character and choose their LI yourself so it's like you are planning this story/romance as well and then playing it out. Not so far with shipping that fandoms tend to do with fanart, fanfiction and headcanons- and that's one of my fav part of fandoms too ^^;
I would play without romances as well, but they are just big part of enjoyment for me that goes beyond the actual gaming too.

I'd also recommend waiting until we get 100% confirmation from the devs, but I think its a safe bet that Jaal is bi, given the enthusiasm the devs have for the liking of the character on twitter from both guys and gals, the likes for comments about "banging Jaal", and even the devs them selves saying they would bang Jaal #PrettyGoodBanging

As a straight male who is also a huge xenophile,I have zero interest in Cora. And never romanced a single human in the original trilogy. Peebee sounds too much like Sera from Inquisition, and I friggin hated Sera! So the last real hope is Vetra. If she's not an option, I guess my Ryder won't be romancing anyone in Andromeda. Same happened in Inquisition since scout Harding was the only female I wanted to romance and she wasn't an option.

I mean the Jaal thread alone exploded since they confirmed he was a romance option! Yep! But there were a lot of men too. I hope he's bi for their sake. We women get a lot of nice alien LI's, but the guys have never had that chance. Thane was possibly mean to be bi based on a voice recording we heard, but it was cut. Also both men and women are swooning on Twitter and the devs keep liking their comments. It would be pretty misleading if he's only for females, or males.

Oh, and yeah if the content isn't good, also expect me to not stay quiet Yeah. I'm hoping there is more equality across the romance options this time round as well. In ME1 there wasn't any, unless you used the mod/cheat to unlock Kaidan (which I did once I found out about it), in ME2 I didn't romance anyone, and in ME3 it was Kaidan again for my imported save from ME1/ME2 where I had used the cheat/mod to romance him; and Cortez for the save where I hadn't. Dragon Age, while it at least has had m/m romance since Origins, could still look to give equality of options and well written characters/romances.

Looking back at the description of the alleged gay romance scene, doesn't the guy sound, appearance wise, a little bit too much like Cortez? Buzzcut, dark skin, stubble... If we are to have a gay character, I doubt whoever this alleged romance scene is with, is that guy. Or maybe he is and it's going to be awkward if Cortez and alleged gay(?) character look alike so much.

@liarashepard Tom said during some recordings he saw a bald Liam, so maybe that was him before he had hair?

The above one looks rather generic, so I could see him as a placeholder. Also the gay romance is supposed to be Latino, so he would have lighter skin and I don't see facial hair minus a small mustache.

But I don't think they spend as much time in the gay romance look as they did in Liams and Coras look...but that's just my feeling. Yes, he looks kinda generic, but Steve was generic, too...I won't get my hopes up to expect something better...

But I'm already a bit disappointed about the buzzcut. Not my favorite hair style... I don't know if it's the guy from the promo... Yes he has darker skin, but maybe they planned him to be darker at some point of the development process and changed his skin colour after they had already made Liam dark skinned.

I don't think that the black guy with the buzzcut is the one that was seen in the m/m scene. That character was described as having "darker-skin" but "definitely not black". There's no way that she saw that guy and thought that he wasn't black. I'll see her this weekend and double check, but I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this.
Now, that's not to say that the guy pictured above isn't Reyes, though. We don't know for sure that Reyes is the guy in the m/m scene. So maybe the guy above IS Reyes. I just am pretty confident that he's not the guy in the m/m romance scene.

Just like if DA4 had a gay magister again. Like at least give the dude some hair. I'd love a gay dude with dreadlocks or something.
