The Character Romance thread (Official)

There is no way Drack is a romance option. That is just not a direction Bioware is going to go. At the end of the day this is still a western rpg for a western audience. Leave the lizard ploughing in Japan.

I would have said no chance on Bull either, but Weekes went out of his way to recreate the Qunari in his image with Bull and his story. I try to forget his character ever existed, he's dead anyways.

But Drack is just another level, I look at Bull like I do a basketball player but Drack is a size not even comparable to human standards, Krogan make sumo wrestlers look like little children.

It's like making love to Godzilla, which might fly in a JRPG but should stay the hell out of good ol Canadian made RPGS.

Exactly. I was going to mention how DA never felt like ME in terms of lesbian romance too, I will be always sad for no bi Alistair, bi Cullen or bi Cass (gay/bi KISA for DA4 pls Bioware you can do it), however the DA team have been great when it comes to lesbian romance, mostly, I've never done Sera's romance, maybe because she is the embodiment of the angry lesbian trope, I just like her as crazy friend, but as girlfriend I prefer Josephine in DAI, and Isabela is my favorite DA2 romance, I love that pirate.

I gotta jump into this conversation. You mentioned Skyrim, and I gotta say, that shit was wack. 

Yes, you can '' romance '' anyone you did a favor for, but the world around you was still '' men have wives, men are interested in women, women have husbands, women are interested in men.  ''

Hell, there's a speechcraft skill called '' Allure '' and it ONLY affected the opposite sex, there was no option for the same sex later on. The game doesn't seem to recognize same sex relationships or people of different sexualities at all, which makes the same sex romance feel so detached from the actual game, it feel so weird and... odd. Of course none of this is a problem for a real invested roleplayer but for me it was a bit... ehhhhhh... It did ruin my immersion just a bit, I gotta admit. 

Though I'm not that much of a Skyrim junkie and there might as well be this huge rainbow land covered in gay that I haven't tapped into lol.

Would BW ever go the playersexual route ever again, they need to make sure that the world isn't heteronormative, and that people outside of straight and bisexuality (since playersexuality does translate to bisexuality with me, no matter how much one would headcanon otherwise) exists. That would make the romances feel less detached from the world, something that bugged me IMMENSELY in Skyrim.

Not that we are going to know before launch ( ) but if there are m/m options on the squad, and generally just if you choose to have a same-sex relationship in the game, its acknowledged in universe and by other characters that its a same-sex relationship and the correct gender pronouns are used instead of avoided like with MShep and Kaidan
