I think he will be MIA and presumed KIA.
But if we don't have his corpse, I won't believe he died

I'm going with missing, presumed dead.

If they are going to kill him, I hope they don't do it before we get to care about him. In my first playthrough of DA2 I really couldn't get into mourning Carver because of this.

I think he's going to go on a secret mission on his own.
Then he will come back to threaten whatever peace you vaguely build up .
"We need that "X" thing son/daughter !!!!" "But dad it would mean war with the Keks!!!" "So be it" ...
Later dad is killed by main villain after some renegade action.
Ryder: "Dad NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *much drama, much tears*"
Stupid Dad Ryder.

It would be a lot better, and funnier, if he just decides to retire after the first mission.

Agreed, no point in killing off a character close to the player character if the players themselves never have a reason to care, or don't even know them besides their name. Doesn't necessarily mean they have to be in the story for long, but their presence must be highly emotional in the time they are alive, The Last of Us is a good example in my opinion.

I like it to be the peepee asari, but unfortunately I remember Bioware saying there won't be any squadmate deaths in the game.

I rather have another character die instead of dad.

I have doubts he will die at the beginning due to the fact they hired Clancy Brown to be his voice actor. If he was going to die so soon, they wouldn't use a big name to voice him.

Oblivion would like a word...

Hiring big names isn't Bethesda exclusive.

Going missing and coming back as a brainwashed Kett weapon, forcing us to kill him, seems more likely than the writers killing him off first thing.
