You can definitely tell he's only 22, while Shepard was almost 30.

Sara's proportions look OK for her height but Scott? Why did they give him baby legs?

Frostbite has a more toon-like feel. Yeah....Shep's armor look better too. Maybe it's because Ryder and crew are explorers and everything, but idk....i'm glad you pointed that out, because while this game looks great, i couldn't help but notice that even the creatures in previous vids looked a bit.....plastic. While the creatures (at least from those in ME3) look and felt more organic. I agree that it has something to do with the engine. Shep's face is crafted better than Ryder's as well....Ryder looks like a deer staring into headlights and his hair looks plastic like the oldschool Barbie "Ken" doll....Art design and direction goes a long way, but you also have to take into account of the engine that is being used. Which is a shame because i know initially they was talking up this frostbite engine like it was the greatest engine ever. If i had to choose, just looking at these two pics overall, i'd say just use the old ME3 engine, with some refinements and improvements for the xbox1/Ps4 systems.

There seems to be a significant problem with the Scott Ryder model, he seems to have unrealistically short legs. I checked it with my own body, if I put my elbow on my hip joint my fist stops just where the thigh ends and the knee starts. If you do the same with the Scott Ryder model his fist would extend over his entire knee. Scott Ryder's thighs are way too short, like 4'' / 10cm.

Leave Frostbite to DA and Battlefield.

Bio fans only care about appearance and romance My reservations for the horrible marketing strategy aside, I've been an avid defender of this game from Day 1, and I'm still hyped for it. But there's no defending this, the proportions for the characters are laughable. I would even call it amatuer. This is not something that should come from a company as large and experienced as Bioware.

The images are 'taken' at different angles; the camera seems to be looking slightly up in Shepard's picture, and slightly down in Ryder's. I think that's the reason why his legs look a little shorter.

Frostbite has a more toon-like feel. It's an art direction (like how Deus Ex: Human Revolution went with tiny heads), character models and their proportions have nothing to do with the engine. Shepard doesn't exactly have the same body type or proportions as the guys in Gears of War. Perspective seems a bit odd in these kits too, might play some tricks with the eyes. Looking at the three full front shots of Scott I'd say the "camera" was at height with and focused on the chest. What people describe as being plasticy could have something to do with the engine though. Some weird "material" or shader, not that it couldn't be changed.

Yeah in the trailer Scott looks amazing, but the playable version looks slightly off. Almost like in FF games where you had a sprite to control and the FMV sequences were more realistic. Once we are actually playing as them, I doubt they'll look as odd, but there is still a slightly comic book/cartoon feeling about them.

They probably should've released these character kits after the game's release. Just my opinion. There's some conventions coming up in and around release; gotta give people time to get their cosplay ready. LOL! Somebody should tweet to them about Scott's.. proportions There is still some time, maybe they can improve it at least.. The proportions are accurate, Scott's posture is just stupid. Note his body: They made Scott puff his chest out in his neutral stance --even clearer from the Pathfinder crew video--and it looks stupid.

Frostbite has a more toon-like feel. Shepard's head is actually too small. His body is 9 heads tall, when it really should be 8. His shoulders are also too broad compared to his head as well (should be 3 head lengths wide). Otherwise his proportions are OK. Scott by comparison is 7.5 heads tall and a little under 3 heads wide. Scott's "out of proportion"ness is in his torso, which is too long, making his legs too small as a result

I need to stop thinking about that black stripe\patch\detail\thing on Ryders'....lower back right now. I don't want to know it's purpose and what would they use it for. I mean...I really don't. Side note - aren't they supposed to use the highest possible details\textures and the most attractive angles in their promos? If that's the high\ultra, then I'm having hard time to imagine the low\medium. What's that with the lighting and gloss? Scott looks sooo terribly plastic, practically a Ken-doll, nothing like the 'pretty face we've seen in one of those vids. And Sara has it the other way around, she looks prettier on her 'side view' picture, while most of the frontal randers make look almost ugly. We've seen that stuff before (e.g. ME3 and DAI CC had lighting that was REALLY different from the in-game and cut-scenes), now the good question would be 'which angles are going to be used most during the gameplay'.

Hey, that's what our species does; no cause for embarrassment. We take food in from the hole at the top, process it, and then push it out from the hole down below. Earth-evolved vertebrate; that's what we do.
