Already a thread for this. Also as myself and others have realized, the proportions of the character in the Kits are different than those in game. Go watch gameplay footage and trailers, they look completely fine.

Somehow I'm not so sure that 'I-need-to-pee\poo-hole' is a good attachement to the vaccum\environmental suit... but who am I to judge, right? ps: maker, now I can't unseee how the presentation went... 'And now, dear Ai recruits, we're happy to show you your suits...They are durable, light-weighted and here's an emergency exctraction port (in case you find yourself stranded on a distant planet and run out of the diapers)...'

Only problem I see is that Scott is winging his arms out like a high schooler who just started lifting.
Beyond that the difference seems to be in the angle of the shot, making Scott's body look smaller than Shepard's. The way they hold themselves doesn't really help either: Shepard looks like he's about to take charge of whatever; Scott looks like he's about to tell us he's a big boy now. Anyway, looking at trailers shows that both Scott and Sara are fit and fairly proportionate.

Sara and Scott both look like real people. They're not going to look right next to Shepard because he's an ultra-idealized hypermale. His proportions have always been, if not unrealistic, at least at the outer limit of human male proportions.

I'm not a fan either. But then again, it is a non-issue seeing as we can create our own face.

But even if Sara and Scott are indeed shorter than Shepard what is the problem? Apart from the general trolling that i tend to believe when i see threads like this one...

There seems to be a significant problem with the Scott Ryder model, he seems to have unrealistically short legs. I checked it with my own body, if I put my elbow on my hip joint my fist stops just where the thigh ends and the knee starts. If you do the same with the Scott Ryder model his fist would extend over his entire knee. Scott Ryder's thighs are way too short, like 4'' / 10cm. Everyone has different proportions. I'm 5"11" with shorter legs but insanely long torso. Great for swimming and surprisingly snowboarding not so much on the sprinting. I think it's mostly the angle but I look close those proportions. Shepard seemed to always look long and lanky.

I spent some time thinking about it, and I might be wrong, but I feel like they are using the same model for both of them, brother and sister in order to cut corners and save some money on modeling/animations, resulting in them looking off proportion wise. I won't go in face proportions, they look more like children, and as if only reason they got where they are is corruption, cause Daddy is big shot.

Yeah I think the ME3 engine was a bit more realistic when it came to human body shapes. Frostbite has a more toon-like feel. Shepard's head is actually too small. His body is 9 heads tall, when it really should be 8. His shoulders are also too broad compared to his head as well (should be 3 head lengths wide). Otherwise his proportions are OK. Scott by comparison is 7.5 heads tall and a little under 3 heads wide. Scott's "out of proportion"ness is in his torso, which is too long, making his legs too small as a result Yeah it's sort of like a reverse caricature. Actually being the Simmer I am, it reminds me of when we see a teen become a young adult and then an adult. It's like a smaller version of an adult.

That perfectly describes it!! Smh. Bring back the Unreal Engine. Leave Frostbite to DA and Battlefield. I agree. Ever since we saw the characters in-engine, I've said they look slightly cartoonish/stylized. I prefer the more realistic look of the ironically named Unreal Engine. Just seems like a step back from the original trilogy.

Just seems like a step back from the original trilogy. It's not an engine problem. Frostbite 3 can render pretty realistic looking faces. But that requires the art team to produce one in the first place, of course. Let's have a look at one of BF1's single player protagonists, Danny Edwards. Single player is definitely not the focus of BF1, but they still put in the effort to give their faces a good, detailed skin texture. The engine is fine.

In all seriousness, the body models used in this game will be the same from the trilogy? Cause everyone had the same height (discounting races and gender).
Except this time I noticed Vetra is much taller than Ryder. I don't remember Garrus having that much a difference from Male Shepard. Could be wrong in all of this, though.

So the question is: why did they decide to go more stylized than realistic with ME:A?
