I tried with a Korean server and it works. Then the strangest thing happened - I disconnect the VPN, restart Origin and it still says I can load the game on 20th March. Is it a bug? Happened to me too, until I restarted my PC - then it was back on the 23rd. Origin magic That only works with PC, right? How can I trick my PS4 damnit??? Unfortunately yes, and I am not aware of a solution for the silly console restrictions, sorry How do I post spoilers to europe only please reply I'm not entirely sure what you mean with Europe only, but you post spoilers, by either clicking the spoiler button on the top of the Create a Post-Page (web view) and then simply putting the text into the pop-up window, or by adding [ spoiler] before and [ /spoiler] after the text you want to hide (without the spaces in the brackets).

Just be careful where you're funneling your data through. Pick a reputable VPN!
I have nothing but sympathy for you guys. It's bullshit that you get the game 2 days late, and totally unacceptable.

I think it sounds like it's session and cookie based which is why it resets when you reset your hardware because your client's cookie's jwt is no longer valid for the active session on the server associated with your login credentials. Different servers will store user sessions for different territories so if you switch off your vpn the next time it performs activation checks it will be looking for sessions on the wrong server, not find it and create a new one on your local one with your present location/i.p. Not to mention that sessions expire regardless after a designated period of time.
Ideally, the best way to avoid falling foul of verification checks is to use the vpn once to fool both the server and client (temporarily) then keep origin offline until the official release date.
Personally if I had to wait a couple of days I'd be just as happy to watch twitch streams to get the general reaction and first impressions and see more of the dialogue and gameplay choices that i won't get to see in my first playthrough.

Does any of this change with the origin access/early access added in? Will playing early w/o a vpn hurt your chances of fooling the origin client with a vpn?

Does any of this change with the origin access/early access added in? Will playing early w/o a vpn hurt your chances of fooling the origin client with a vpn? When a user session is created on request normally the server will get your user data from a DB during authentication and copy the odd flag it requires for logic operations back to your session on success. I imagine EA access privileges will be flagged, logged and checked along with your ip loc. I'm surprised that they don't appear to retrieve your home country and compare it with your IP address which would kill the ability to unlock with VPNs and region unlocking shenanigans which you would think would be a high priority for EA. The fact that this loophole exists shows their checks aren't terribly thorough for a software publishing empire. If their sessions don't retrieve your home country then I'd say it's likely EA only checks that your ea access is valid and you haven't exceeded the time limit and that the street date check is met for the server region you are logged into.

The fact that this loophole exists shows their checks aren't terribly through. It's probably intentional that the verification isn't that thorough. They have to maintain the staggered release to please retail, but the number of users willing and able to use a vpn to bypass is probably insignificant enough in the grand scheme that nobody makes a big thing of it, so they have little incentive to stop it.

R So... do I preorder before or after changing my VPN? FYI Purchasing anything while using a VPN can get you in serious trouble because the payment API will inform your bank if the IP looks dodgy and it will likely be flagged as suspicious activity which could put a block on your account. Happens all the time - it's so easy to forget to turn it off. Using VPNs on gambling sites for example can get you banned or worse. It does't matter which region/storefront you unlock from/on origin as it looks like any hypothetical JSON object created for the requested product record for conditional logic changes based on your IP/Server location (not home country location from the user account db). Your ip is only stored for the duration of the session (less than 48 hours). A session is just a temporary instance variable. A brand new one will be created every time you log in for verification checks. You only need a US VPN on March 21st then leave origin in offline mode until the 23rd and then the next time you log in on your home country server it will create a new session instance all over again with your next IP address.

I'd like to do this VPN thing, but I really don't wanna risk a ban or something like that for only 2 days of waiting. Anyone dares to tweet to the devs to see if there may be any problem with that?
I mean, the Titanfall devs replied, so...

When DAI Came out i used the same VPN service. It worked on origin, but when starting the game, DAI said something about it cannot reach EA servers, thats the point when you turn VPN off. Now this worked great! Planning on doing it this time around aswell. Because you only have to trick origin!
For console people, there are some Routers that support VPN.

Would not recommend that, you risk running into trouble with dlc etc later, and you'll probably still not get to activate early based on your location. The ideal, but not cheap, solution to get vpn access on consoles is to use a router that can handle the vpn. Then everything you connect to the router benefits from the vpn. Alternatively, you may be able to use a vpn provider that offers SmartDNS or similar services, that should work to spoof your location. I use Expressvpn, which has SmartDNS support on ps4.

Unlocking on different days for a game is a bad habit, many publishers already have a unified release date. nowadays it is probably just a logistics problem for physical copies to be shipped out. Seems like EA is a bit sleepy on the topic of a global release date. Many people get angry because they start to spoil themselves by watching others on or people start to leak information before you can get your hands on it. Also in terms of unlocking via VPN. theoretically it is a bannable offense since you are tricking origin into thinking you are in a different country. but i havent heard of a single case being banned only for unlocking. Well, if you google you find some but you never know wether they are trolling or actually bought it with a vpn. Buying a game WITH a VPN avoids paying taxes for your country. not only the publisher can get in trouble for that but also you can get legal issues for avoiding taxes. personally ive unlocked many games on steam and DA:I on origin early and havent had any problems whatsoever. I think once you unlock the game it will remain unlocked; no need to turn off Origin or disconnect from the web. Usually, unlocking a pre-downloaded game means decrypting some of its data; nobody encrypts it again. this is not true. i cant speak for origin though, i tried it with steam. once you unlock it it decrypts the preload and you can play it while being offline / logging into steam with vpn. however if you go online again the game says 100% downloaded and waiting for patch. again, i dont know how origin behaves but it should be similar.

Origin client is far different from Steam; anyway, I think that disabling Origin in game may be enough. I have no experience about unlocking games on Steam; they usually have an unified release date worldwide, so no need to use VPN's.

So... do I preorder before or after changing my VPN? If you use VPN on a legitimately purchased copy of the game, EA should have no issues with that, because you launch the game for which you paid accordingly to your region. They could (IMHO) have an issue with You, if you use VPN to purchase the game for price lower, than your actual region.
