I could get a free trial on that vpn thing from my f-secure, but the thing is they don´t have South Korea on the list. Is there another Asian country that gets the game at the same time? Need to know if i have to search for another option, cos playing at 5 pm on Monday sounds better than 6 am the next day. And how does that vpn work with MP? No way to turn it off while you are in game and still play? Well i guess i could just wait those two extra days with MP, playing it with vpn on sounds very laggy. Hong Kong should be same time if you have that available. As for mp, I actually played mp through vpn as I could never join a lobby with two specific friends otherwise. But I have a fast connection and use a relatively expensive vpn, which is expensive because they don't route everyone through the same two tin cans on a piece of string.

Ok...I've used this VPN thing, and the release date is now 22 march from 23 march...and the price is in yen(changed with euro).Did someone get the same?I'm from Europe.Romania. Yes, that's what happens. But don't buy the game while using VPN! Both you and EA can get into legal trouble, because you don't pay VAT tax through that method. Best case scenario would be just termination of your Origin account, the worst case you might get criminally charged for tax evasion in your country. Use VPN only when ME:A is released to just unlock and play it, until it is officially out in your country.

Great, i think Hong Kong was an option. And I might just need to try at least one mp match then and see how that works out. I can always rage quit if it gets too laggy.

Expressvpn.com, been using them for years. Their Android app is really nice too, I never connect to public wifi without it.

Just an update, tried VPN, tried a korean server, game date changed from 22nd 11pm to 20th 3pm. Reverting is simply switching off the vpn and restarting origin.

Retailers are really good at knocking themselves out. In an age where you can buy digital, putting up more restrictions just ticks off a player base that has other options. At some point EA could just say "fuck it, we're releasing this digitally all around the world on the same day, screw retailers!". That day is coming. Not as long as they gain a lot of profit from physical copies. Also there's Microsoft and Sony. While PC community is mostly digital, consoles are still mainly physical. Sony and Microsoft do not want for PC to get earlier copies of AAA titles before consoles, so there's also that pressure EA and other major publishers have to deal with. It is a very complicated thing. I know the day hasn't come yet, but it's coming. If retailers are going to be inflexible, they're going to go down like so many other inflexible businesses have.

You will always be remembered. The brick and mortar stores are in trouble already. I in fact haven't been to a store selling games or consoles for a few years now. I know I can find it cheaper online.

In this digital age why are there different days things come out still anyway? As others have been saying, because of physical copies. It takes them awhile to ship everything to all the stores in Europe, so in order to not hurt the sales of retailers who are typically quite cozy with game publishers, everything is released at the same time--physical and digital copies. One day, when physical copies stop being a thing, we shall not have to worry about this anymore. Part of why I stopped buying that way. Should things indeed change, people who like physical copies will start whining about why do they have to be punished just for not buying the digital version. To which I will say "deal with it." I mean, Europeans have had to deal with the flip-side of the issue for a long time already, after all. But for now, my European friends must resort to waiting a few days, or doing something kinda-shady that will probably do them no harm but technically could if somebody decided to crack down.

Even then the rule is ridiculous. Alot of games have world wide releases. Why exactly are stores making exceptions for games like The Witcher 3 etc?

Someone posted it in another thread but i can't find it now, but EA have officially answered his question on their support question thing stating they full allow anyone using the VPN to unlock it early, they wont however provide technical support for multiplayer until its official release. Even then the rule is ridiculous. Alot of games have world wide releases. Why exactly are stores making exceptions for games like The Witcher 3 etc? They don't make an exception, it probably means the game gets an unofficial delay while they ship the game globally waiting for every country to have the copies before then releasing the game. The downside to this is it means a lot of stores will have the game even a week before it releases which means your running the risk of some copies going missing and then being streamed. EDIT: Double post

Unsure. But CD Projekt Red is in fact a European developer, so things have to be shipped to the States rather than the reverse, I would assume. Maybe some publishers plan better when managing distribution issues than others.

I don't know why they don't just print discs in factories in both North America and Europe. Would solve a lot of the issues. Would also get rid of import tax.

I understand that its annoying it first came out later for some regions, but why people wanna risk (its only a small risk) getting banned to use it I don't understand. Besides for us adults that actually have a full time job, family, etc. we wont have time to play it much until the weekend anyway and even then we might not play much.
I can wait the two days.

The whole reason for releasing at different dates is due to "stocking" laws. In Europe its later at the week to prevent people from skipping work (its abit dumb in the digital age) This is why some games are released Friday on global releases instead. Personally I don't mind to wait the two days I as wrote before. I wont have much time anyway and I will play a much more "bug" free game than those that go into it right away

I don't get me wrong. I don't mind others doing it. I have not seen the link, but most pubs does not allow it "offiically atleast" But I understand that some might benefit from it. Still its just a game, even if its going to be a great one I can wait.

Just to confirm, this isn't a TOS violation or anything? I live in California - anyone know when I could get the game unlocked early this way? Way going to be 9 PM PST Monday.

Remember that connecting to unknown VPN might do harm to you! Stealing internet speed, sharing your data? even sending unwanted stuff back to your end?
Remember to read first what is VPN and what it actually does.
There is already scam youtube videos where people promises you faster internet speed, you need to just connect to this VPN address and you are good to go, reality is that they are stealing your internet speed.
Some one could use your IP and go to Silk Road and order drugs and guess who is behind your door next week?
Be smart!
Remember that there are hardly anyone on this planet that pays for stuff and gives it for free.
Good safety tip is that if something sounds too good it most certainly has something sinister in it.
This is why i'm quite mad for OP for not telling this stuff to you,
Things to know about VPN
- Offering a VPN service is not free
- Some companies sell their users’ bandwidth
- Some companies collect and sell your internet use data
- Some providers modify the web code to show ads
- Many VPNs don’t really offer secure connections
- VPN services can be used by scammers
VPN GATE IS KNOWN TO COLLECT
Extensive connection logs (three or more months)
- Date and time
- ID, IP address and hostname of destination VPN server
- Type of action (connect or disconnect)
- Raw IP address and hostname of the source VPN client computer
- Type of VPN protocols (SSL-VPN, L2TP, OpenVPN or SSTP)
- VPN client software-name, version and ID (if available)
- Number of packets and bytes during a VPN connection, and debug information of communication errors
