Don't forget there are countries where using a VPN even for gaming is forbidden and illegal. Just from the Top of my head: Denmark, Portugal, Norway... Actually the counties i'm 100% sure this is ok to use a VPN for such practice are: Sweden, France and the US... Please check the laws of your country before you use it. Huh? There's nothing illegal about using a vpn in Denmark. In denmark the law requires you to log every 500th package

It applies to the ISP or the VPN (end user obviously isn't logging any network packets). ISP can still log ever 500th packet, still going through their network, it'll be encrypted but that's true for many non-VPN packets too. For a VPN it would apply to a provider based out of Denmark which with such a rule is probably not a big number.

I can find plenty of lawyers going public about the use of VPN isn't breaking any Laws. And logging the packages would be up to the VPN service provider anyhow, not the consumer.

I'll investigate a link. The main confusion is actually the Danish law is contraddictory with the Europeen court decision. Thus many lawyers may argue VPNs are useable in Danemark because Europeen court is supposed to decide over local court... I would not recommand to any danish person to do so.

So it actually looks like my game might finish downloading sometime today (yes, it has taken like 3 days) so when it's done I log out of Origin, run the VPN and I'll be able to dodge waiting till the 23rd? Origin won't like track me and mark me down as naughty or anything?

If anything, you wouldn't want to use a VPN based in Denmark, and possibly a Danish end point to the connection. Which is the opposite of what this thread is about. My VPN, for instance, is based in the British Virgin Isles (Not subject to the snoopers charter, despite the "British" bit of the name), and I'm connecting to Korea. My ISP can log all it wants, all it'll say is I connected to my VPN provider, which keeps no logs. My ISP is still logging my connection, so they break no laws.

I did the VPN thing but where can I see when does it unlock for me? If you click the game in your origin library it should show in the game panel that appears.

Also, follow up question, once I've used the VPN to unlock the game can I remove it or do I have to keep it until after the 23rd?

If memory serve , you need to relaunch the VPN if you close Origin until your local release date. Once you hit the release date, no more VPN needed.

There is no such thing in my client anymore, tough. There used to be a pre-load date, but now there is no more information about the release, at least I can't find it anymore anywhere, this was even before I switched to VPN. Did I mention I absolutely hate this new Origin client?

So guys, does anyone know a secure way to do this? I really don't want to wait 'till the 23rd. Not to be an ass, but... That's kind of what the thread tells you. But, the super short version based on what I use: expressvpn.com, sign up, download their simple to use client and put in your activation code. Start the client, select korea or hong kong. Start origin, start game.

Personally, I use the free softether vpn one. It is only to activate your game not to relay payments. If you decide to use VPN use the Korean one it starts today the 20th.

Uuughh I really want to do this VPN thing but I would have to download the software and I don't have internet connection on PC (waiting for the new modem for the new apartment...) and I'm too lazy anyway. I could buy Origin Access today and unlock the game using my phone as a hotspot for 5 sec... 3,99 € for Origin Access is a tempting offer. UGH.
YES I'm just here to let you people convince me to do it. PLS DO.

Don't think it checks the release date after the first launch, once the game is unlocked it stays unlocked. I'm sure someone will report back on that though. Once you click on your game, there should be something like "Windows release date" followed by the day it unlocks. There is no such thing in my client anymore, tough. I wouldn't say I hate the new Origin client, but I did like the old one better.
