From the very brief snippets of dialogue we got from Sarah from the video trailers, I see her as the more self confident one. Possibly but he seems fearless and confident in the trailer that was posted today.

I'm hoping for reformed Omega stripper and scourge of Batarian bartenders galaxy wide. As long as it opens up a new option during romance: stripping for your LI.

Looks like we have set careers from the new briefing Wonder what kind of background options they'd give us if our military history is already a thing

I would pick the fourth option: You were always your own person. You've moved away to another planet/colony at an early age and gradually lost contact with your family. Always little more than strangers, over just a few short years they become a distant memory, so you were really surprised when your Father contacted you to be recruited into Andromeda. I prefer this one as well. I'd rather be estranged from my family and be my own person than be shaped by them. And not in any scandalous way, imploring angst and bad behavior and all that jazz. Just a middle-ground. No love or hate. It doesn't mean you can't come to like them while you play, but you can also chose to simply not engage much.

According to the new Games Masters feature we will be able to pick a backstory during CC. What kinds of options do you think well get? What options do you want? And how much content will there be for each backstory? A full side mission? A mini mission like in ME1? Or just casual mentions like in ME 2 and 3? Link? Where is your source?

So, Scott was assigned to guard a relay, and Sara was sent as a military attache to Prothean Research scientists? Seems pretty set backgrounds. Also, is it just me or does Sara look significantly lighter-skinned than when she was first revealed?

I'm wondering if choosing your background was a part of choosing your gender now, the intro line was somewhat ambiguous.

Ah, I'm wrong apparently, just got confirmed on Twitter by @tibermoon, that you can choose your background history. Cool . I'm guessing that might also give us some specific dialogue options .

But is that separate than service history? The Alliance military takes all types, I'm sure, so maybe you get to choose their training but that really only effects your starting class/skills. The service history might still be the same, ie: Scott was still stationed at a Mass Relay, Sara was stationed with scientists.

Well, maybe he was referring to which assignment you get.
Maybe you can choose if Scott goes to Prothean scientists and Sara to guard the relay.

Hm... I wonder if Scott's and Sara's background from the briefing are set in stone. I'd rather play male, but would love to play as someone that has a archeologist carreer instead of military.

Looks like we have set careers from the new briefing Wonder what kind of background options they'd give us if our military history is already a thing I was wondering the same thing. Thankfully MegaIllusiveMan posted all the little bios so I didn't have to squint to read them. They were born on the Citadel, had early informal training from their dad, joined the Alliance as recruits and were sent to two different assignments, then were recruited for the Andromeda Initiative. My guess at Dad's urging. What kind of background options you can get from that, I don't know.

And maybe Scott actually wanted the science gig, but the military in its infinite wisdom assigned him the to relay instead. Though the trailer showed him as having no problem with a fight when it comes to it.

Kirky @kirkyv Are those training options unrelated to the backstories discussed in the briefing video? pbs.twimg.com/media/C3H3ZLeWIAAvflo.jpgIan S. Frazier @tibermoonCorrect, your training is chosen by the player. Rough backstory is based on which twin you are (see vid).

Absolute nonsense, Bioware. Why even make a RPG at all if you're going to restrict players this much with 'their' character.

The Inquisitor is easily my favorite protagonist, much more so than Shepard and Hawke and definitely Ryder now. Ooh, one mistake for a feature they added later in development. Clearly that whole system doesn't work.

The background they are providing is not intrusive, and you can move your character forward from it.

One of the problems I had with the Witcher series was how established Geralt was. He had an established lover, established friends, established background etc... There were love interests in Witcher 3 I wanted to pursue more than Yennefer's but it just felt wrong not to go with her. Geralt was so canonically into Yen I couldn't enjoy choosing Triss. I definitely would have preferred that entire series more, had it featured a younger less entrenched main character. My only solace with Scott/Sara is the fact they're only like... 22? So even if they have a bit of an established history its only... what 4 years or relevant adult choices? I can deal with that.

But so far, Ryders have by far more freedom Of choice as to how to look at their past and infinitely more during the game than Geralt.
