As long as it opens up a new option during romance: stripping for your LI.

And not in any scandalous way, imploring angst and bad behavior and all that jazz. Just a middle-ground. No love or hate. It doesn't mean you can't come to like them while you play, but you can also chose to simply not engage much.

I'm wondering if choosing your background was a part of choosing your gender now, the intro line was somewhat ambiguous.

Ah, I'm wrong apparently, just got confirmed on Twitter by @tibermoon, that you can choose your background history. Cool . I'm guessing that might also give us some specific dialogue options .

But is that separate than service history? The Alliance military takes all types, I'm sure, so maybe you get to choose their training but that really only effects your starting class/skills. The service history might still be the same, ie: Scott was still stationed at a Mass Relay, Sara was stationed with scientists.

Hm... I wonder if Scott's and Sara's background from the briefing are set in stone. I'd rather play male, but would love to play as someone that has a archeologist carreer instead of military.

And maybe Scott actually wanted the science gig, but the military in its infinite wisdom assigned him the to relay instead. Though the trailer showed him as having no problem with a fight when it comes to it.

Absolute nonsense, Bioware. Why even make a RPG at all if you're going to restrict players this much with 'their' character.

The Inquisitor is easily my favorite protagonist, much more so than Shepard and Hawke and definitely Ryder now. 
Ooh, one mistake for a feature they added later in development. Clearly that whole system doesn't work. 

It's a delicate balance. I preferred how Shepard was handled more than this, so far. One of the problems I had with the Witcher series was how established Geralt was. He had an established lover, established friends, established background etc... There were love interests in Witcher 3 I wanted to pursue more than Yennefer's but it just felt wrong not to go with her. Geralt was so canonically into Yen I couldn't enjoy choosing Triss. I definitely would have preferred that entire series more, had it featured a younger less entrenched main character.

My only solace with Scott/Sara is the fact they're only like... 22? So even if they have a bit of an established history its only... what 4 years or relevant adult choices? I can deal with that.
