They didn't say anything about defending colonies, though. In the OP: Edit: Leaked Survey from over a year ago suggests that we will be defending settlements from the Kett. More details in my post on page 6 of this thread. not confirmed yet, but a possibility considering most things from the leaks have been true.

If its implemented in a mission like way I can see it being good, as-in not having to keep doing it over and over Fallout 4 style.

I totally obsessed over my Fallout 4 settlement to the point of madness... I think this is a good thing then... I ended up just making a four story "all-in-one" barracks style building, bristling with automated turrets. It was practically unassailable. Then I just replicated it at all the other sites. In Fallout 4 I'm making a big beautiful wall in Sanctuary and making the Institute pay for it!

I wouldn't mind a more expanded version of the Keep system in DAI. I was a bit disappointed that the system shown in the Digi Expo demo was cut down a bit, but if the MEA devs were influenced by the original concept (Aaryn mentioning science or military outposts sounded very familiar) then I'm more than okay with that.
I don't think it'll be like FO4 settlements. Just because they have the same title doesn't mean it'll be a carbon copy.

As "fantastic" as sci-fi game titles are, I want a good bit of realism to go along with my spacecowboying. If settlements are going to be a part of this game then I want there to be stakes. I don't want to create a settlement and just benefit from it, i.e. resource mining, safe houses etc. There should be risks involved so i'm hoping the survey you mentioned about having to defend the settlements from the Kett is true and will be implemented. Perhaps, depending on how many settlements you create and their placement, there comes a point in the game where you have to chose between protecting a settlement or continuing on with a time sensitive mission. If this or something very close to it is the case then i'm all for it. If not then it will be a missed opportunity at best and a complete waste of time at its worst.

Loved settlement feature in Fallout 4, it's not perfect and has some janky implementation but just something about building your settlement is really appealing to me. I don't really expect from Andromeda AS robust system as in Fo4 but i hope there will be something, at least some semblance of customization.

Has anyone mentioned Preston yet? Another settlement needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.

My understanding is that there are "four types of settlements" = Mining Outposts to gather resources, Intelligence Outposts for defense, Science Outpost for tech upgrades and planet colonisation. Game wise they are integrated. I'll scream if Bio implemented a DA:I War Room equivalent. What I want to see is some feedback from my choices of setting up these Outposts. A simple Colony screen that summarises the fruit of each one including a notice from the SO about new tech discoveries, the IO alerting me to a Khet incursion... etc. Plus some feedback on the AI strike team training and status levels. Perhaps even assign some upgrades to the Outposts. I'm not looking for a simulation. But if I need to defend the Outposts and colonies, I need information so that I can take the right measures and not in the form of a mission to re-assert "control".... maybe that too if I screwed up. Maybe we can control and organize colonies from this command console on the tempest. Similar to the galaxy map where it pulls up the Helios Cluster allowing you to zoom in on planets/colonies and make those choices (possible upgrades) based on alerts. A screen pop up for each colony can give the run down on logistics and statistics of the colony while S.A.M. reads them to you. This is beginning to sound like Master Of Orion: Conquer The Stars all over again.

Warning: The information (only pertains to settlements and defending them)below is only considered to be leaked information from that survey in 2015 but it sheds some light on settlements,"Assassin's Creed-like' real time defending missions, and how multiplayer is incorporated into colonies and settlements now: Deployed Strike Team Missions: The Helius Cluster is 1000s of light years across, and you can’t be everywhere at once. As you develop more colonies, resource bases and settlements, you have to be able to keep them safe. Spend resources to recruit mercenaries and develop an AI controlled Strike Team that you can deploy to take on randomly generated, time-sensitive missions. Strike Team missions take many forms, including settlement defense and Remnant artifact recovery, which will take real-time to complete. Send your Strike Team out on a mission while you continue playing the main game and they will return, 20 – 30 minutes later, having gained rewards such as XP, currency and equipment based on the success of their mission. Spend money and resources to train your Strike Team and acquire better gear for them, which will increase their success rate and allow them to take on more difficult missions for greater rewards. Active Strike Team Missions: When you encounter a Strike Team mission in the Single-Player mode, you can leave your Strike Team at their base and decide to tackle the mission yourself with your Multiplayer roster of characters. You also have the option of tackling the mission by yourself, or recruiting up to three friends to play with you. The more friends you bring, the greater the challenge and the greater the reward. These missions will play out using the Next Mass Effect’s multiplayer Horde mode (more details on this later). These missions will include a variety of thematically appropriate objectives, like defending a Settlement against Khet attacks, or recovering a Remnant artifact off of a planet before an outlaw gang gets there first. By taking an active role in strike team missions, you can earn special Single-player rewards in addition to the usual multiplayer specific characters, weapons, weapon mods, and pieces of equipment which can be customized between missions. Additionally, players who join another person’s Strike Team mission will receive bonus in-game currency and multiplayer XP for helping others with their missions. Establish Settlements: Search solar systems for rare habitable planets to establish a settlement that could serve as a base for humankind’s new home in the Helius Cluster. As you build permanent settlements, you will make strategic choices on where to focus your new base’s resources. For example: Recon Settlements will clear fog of war from the space map and give the player more strike team missions to choose from, while Mining Settlements will periodically supplement the player’s supply of crafting materials.
