a populated zone that looks like a more cyberpunk version of a Wild West town from Firefly Damn it, I was trying to keep my hype level in check. Here's hoping they deliver on those promises.

Yeah this is what I think he means too in that the story will be more of a DA2 nature than the ME Trilogy or or other DA games nature basically a smaller scale more fun/lighthearted type story. Not that I mind it as I liked DA2 and the story it was trying to tell it was just a little rushed I think thanks to having such a tight deadline I don't see that problem occuring with MEA though considering they've had 5 years to work on it. Yeah instead of defending our homes, we are building new ones and slowly settling in and feeling at home. We are supposed to be building new homes (colonies). Atleast I was under the impression that that was our main mission. Even the leak said something about a colony system. It seems that idea was abandoned. I hope not and that we will see something about that in the gameplay vid supposedly being released next week.

Ok... so I like that in theory. But the cinematic trailers we've seen so far contradict this completely. The latest one we got very clearly casts the 'Archon' as being the "big bad" and implies, along with the "scourge", that there is some overarching plot. Soooooo... does someone want to talk to marketing or was it designed to be misleading? BioWare trailers have been deliberately misleading in the past. In the 70 trailers countdown thread you can find some examples. I remember ME2's marketing, which implied Legion was an antagonist. And the marketing for DA:O and DA2 was completely out of whack and did not represent the game at all.

Another point on the big bad topic, shinobi on Gaf said after the last trailer that the archon isn't really 'evil'. I think he might be more of an antagonist/rival then a big bad.

- There is no 'big bad' like the Reapers, no overarching threat. This is the best news. Although the last trailer implies the opposite.

I believe the Kett are more agressive natives (with whom you can even sympathize), but not such a big enemy that the player has to save the entire universe (like in most RPG's)

Or maybe he wants the starcluster for himself / his people too as do we. We don't know yet if we're arriving during a (civil) war, we don't know anything about what is happening in the Andromeda galaxy. But that will be the fun to find out anything about everything there.

Excited about this: - Fabrice: “We are approaching the completionist aspect very differently, because we’ve done and learned a lot from Inquisition. But we’ve also observed what other games have been doing, like The Witcher. And it was very important for us that the quantity of scope doesn’t downgrade the quality of whatever you are doing there.” - Side quests are 'meaningful'. - Loyalty missions like in ME2 - Interrupts return - "The ability to express tone and different emotions to many NPCs in the game, and have different reactions from them based on that, is not just exclusive to your love interests anymore. It’s kind of sprinkled more throughout the game." - Instead of rolling you use a dash attack and cover is automatic
Most important bit:
There are also over a dozen ‘hubs’ in addition to the planet areas, including the Nexus, a Citadel-like space station, and Kadara, a populated zone that looks like a more cyberpunk version of a Wild West town from Firefly.
Not happy about this: - There are also puzzle-locked vaults to uncover
The puzzles are not hard, they're just boring and tedious.

Right there with you. Saw the astrariums in a da:i trailer and knew I couldn't be bothered. Immediately ordered my first ever strategy guide. It was crap, so not doing that again, but definitely still hate puzzles. And there's a special place in hell for towers of hanoi. I loved the astrariums, lol. Just the way puzzles should be - optional and rewarding. My only gripe is that they were a bit repetitive once you figured out the pattern for solving them. I'm looking forward to that tower of Hanoi Easter egg I loved the astrarium puzzles too...I could do those things all day long and be happy.

'Stories of a more casual nature.' I wonder what that means. My sources tell me there is a ballroom dancing competion, and you can take your cousin bowling.

That is amazing, and crazy that it was ever even discovered. There are some elaborate and creepy easter eggs in GTA V. I believe the underwater discoveries were made after applying a 'no water' cheat. There's apparently a sunken ship that's not reachable otherwise, etc. I guess R* could afford to employ a full time person just to think of cool easter eggs (I wouldn't be surprised if they actually do.). In Arkham City there's a pretty lengthy code that deciphers into a message from Scarecrow, and it's legit creepy. I also wonder how it was ever discovered, because to detect the codes you have to bring out the forensic analyzer and look for radio signals at places you wouldn't have a reason to.
