PC Gamer (UK) spoke with BioWare for their cover story in the new issue. These are some highlights (not really new info)!
- There is no 'big bad' like the Reapers, no overarching threat. - The story is slightly more optimistic bent, 'instead of barreling towards certain doom' - The stories are 'of a more casual nature', says Michael Gamble - Father passes down Pathfinder job 'for as-yet-unknown reasons' in first act - Some of the Initiative apparantly 'broke off and formed factions' - Planets will have enemy bases to clear out, powerful optional enemies and areas to scan for crafting opportunities - There are also puzzle-locked vaults to uncover - Fabrice: “We are approaching the completionist aspect very differently, because we’ve done and learned a lot from Inquisition. But we’ve also observed what other games have been doing, like The Witcher. And it was very important for us that the quantity of scope doesn’t downgrade the quality of whatever you are doing there.” - Side quests are 'meaningful'. - Loyalty missions like in ME2 - 'Not everyone arrives at the same time, there are things going on in Andromeda that you have no control over.' - Cora is 'more militaristic and orders and rules based', Peebee will appeal to those who think adventure is fun - Interrupts return - "The ability to express tone and different emotions to many NPCs in the game, and have different reactions from them based on that, is not just exclusive to your love interests anymore. It’s kind of sprinkled more throughout the game." - Instead of rolling you use a dash attack and cover is automatic - Story missions are a little more arena-like (than out in the open world) - Space (the map) is more 3D than 2D
Most important bit:
There are also over a dozen ‘hubs’ in addition to the planet areas, including the Nexus, a Citadel-like space station, and Kadara, a populated zone that looks like a more cyberpunk version of a Wild West town from Firefly.

That's all good. Although by this time I'd expect they would be showing stuff, not saying how they think it is.

No! Oh well. Will get over it hahaha It's not as if was in ME. It's more like the cover in more recent game like TLOU. I think they talked about it here as well, maybe if you check Ian's posts you can find it.

I really hope they deliver on this. I love Inquisition, but after my first playthrough, some of those undeniably beautiful maps just became a chore at times.

Ugh I have begun to hate puzzles in these games. Most people probably still like them but I don;t spend a lot of time on them. I think I did about two asterariums in DAI and never id complete the one complex elf ruin quest. (That is an issue for me. I am not against puzzles for those that like them.)

That HYPE fuckin' train only gets faster. Right!! Looking at calendar.. 5 weeks before I can at least play via EA Access. Just finished an ME1 PT, can you believe it, after previous PT's I finally maxed charm, and had Saren kill himself. Now started an ME2 PT for fun, and I had forgotten how much I liked ME2. So yeah, all in for the ME hype.

'Stories of a more casual nature.' I wonder what that means. My guess? We aren't trying to save the world from certain death and are making homes, friendships and solving ancient mysteries. As Scott said, "we're explorers" and I'm guessing the Kett are not big baddies like the Reapers based on the info.

In terms of looks none of the characters really stand out to me, and in terms of personality it should be no surprise that I like the more cheerful/playful types so I'm expecting PeeBee to be the one I like the most. Unless there's some other character we don't know about yet. The hubs are a welcome thing, provided they've plenty of things to see and do.

'Stories of a more casual nature.' I wonder what that means. My guess is that Andromeda will be more light than Mass Effect. More like a Pixar film or something in those lines. Just see PB's hopping in the PS4Pro trailer is a good evidence of that. Which is far from being a problem, unless it's like Dragon Age, where the game is quite light in tone but pretends to be something like Game of Thrones.

Saw the astrariums in a da:i trailer and knew I couldn't be bothered. Immediately ordered my first ever strategy guide. It was crap, so not doing that again, but definitely still hate puzzles. And there's a special place in hell for towers of hanoi.

PLEASE don't let those vault quests be like the shards in DAI! No they sound more like 'step on this tile to turn it red' then step on the next tile that turns it black again etc or 5 levers pull them in a certain order. I don;t think it will be an endless collection of things.
