Thanks for posting, Thrombin . Nothing really new, here, though it was enjoyable to listen to all the same. I'm still excited to play the game, and uneasy about scanning, crafting and resource management. Annoyingly, I still have the same highs and lows, expectations and doubts, that I've had for a very long time. I hope they decide to show us more of this game before release, and hopefully assuage some concerns. I want to play it on day one, rather than waiting for reviews. I've never waited for a BioWare game, and this is Mass Effect! Times have changed, though.

Oh I so much hate when they start "so yeah, there was shitloads of cool stuff we wanted to do in the previous games, but because the consoles kinda suckad back then we couldn't do it. By the way, sorry PC users, you know how this is"
Sorry, I mean no disrespect to console users, but I effing hate the industry sometimes.

It's frustrating, but Mass Effect never becomes what it is without bazillions in console sales. Triple A titles are made on consoles, not PC. ME3 had this problem amplified. The game was handicapped, not only by console restrictions, but by the fact that they couldn't get things to work on PS3. Major interactive parts of the Tuchanka arc were scrapped because of this. Yet, the IP probably wouldn't be considered "AAA" and be thrown the big time development $$$ by EA if it weren't multi-platform, so here we are.

He didn't say the consoles were the problem he said technology was. Could they really have done what they can now 10 years ago, even on PC? Certainly not the kind of PC most people had access to.

That and Video gaming is often about limitations, you cannot just magically wave a magic wand and have everything you want to have. You have finite resources, and sometimes you have to drop things.

He didn't say the consoles were the problem he said technology was. Could they really have done what they can now 10 years ago, even on PC? Certainly not the kind of PC most people had access to. The technology already existed for the most part. He talked exclusively about the consoles, of course he's not gonna blame the consoles. He's gonna be more subtle "the tech available for those consoles wasn't enough" And in ME3 times they were stuck with the old gen ps3 and the 360 and that was the root of the problem. Could they have achieved much more? possibly, but never with that engine. I don't want to bring the pissing contest, but people needs to understand that especially back then, PCs where much more powerful than consoles. They still are today, but the PS4 and the Xbone ceirtanly improved a lot and they are ever so slightly getting closed of what you can hypothetically achieve on PC a proof of that is how the game is supposed to run at 4K on the PSNeo.

One of the biggest issues brought up by multiple AAA devs for both the 360 and PS3 was memory issues. It was not something a sacrifice of graphics could easily resolve.
Thankfully the industry is at a better place with the Xbox One and PS4 including with more similarity of hardware reducing costs and issues for developing across multiple platforms. Now only if there was more benefit to sticking an SSD in a console.
When the devs themselves share their frustration on working on a platform there is good ground to be frustrated too as a customer.
