Their backgrounds won't affect the gameplay. At all. No locked doors or differences in combat effectiveness. I think we just get a few unique, easter egg dialogue. Scott will likely talk about his time on Arcturus Station, watching as the human fleet launched the attack against the geth in ME1. As for Sara they might tie her to the salarian excavation team with the hanar protesters (elevator news  ). Or if the AI is her first multispecies job maybe initially she was to be assigned to the Eden Prime researchers but was injured/doing something else/on shore leave at the time so the Alliance sent Ash's unit instead. |

I'm afraid Bioware implements the differences as something like this: Sara opens a closed door with her tech skills while Scott shoots the door open. Or she uses her science knowledge in order to make a defective machine working, while Scott puts randomly any buttons till it works.... I don't want to be the stupid or less intelligent sibling. Hopefully, they avoid differences like this. I would have loved if my SisRyder open doors Wrex style  I keep hoping to roleplay my first Sara as a hothead |

I hate that we don't get to pick the Ryder Twin's Background and now I'm forced to play a Soldier again instead of a Scholar which sucks Ass.
