Do you think it's possible that maybe whoever was making the screenshots for the prima guide was fucking around with the game enough to get that scene? That seems more likely than them deciding suddenly to make her bi or straight and then changing their mind again after the prima guide was finalized.

Back to Suvi, I hope she gets some more things to do in DLC.

I hope so too. I'm hoping all the non-squad crewmembers get more time to shine in the DLC to match the squadmates being on the field. 

Didn't Prima guide for ME2 claim there were same-sex romances in that game? It's known they were cut out short before release.

I checked Katy's tweet but it seems she didn't say the entire truth. She said that she mentioned it only because she "keeps getting messages about this nonsense" and "was just responding to a plethora of messages" regarding Suvi. I checked her twitter mentions. No one asked her about that, at least looking back 5 days.

So it seems she found it on her own, perhaps by reading this forum where she was actually pointed at as another evidence that Suvi was not intended to be a lesbian since before the release of the game when straight guys who wanted to bone Suvi asked her what would she say about the "rumors Suvi is gay" she said that she never heard those rumors. She was also accused for that of teasing straight guys at the expense of lesbians. That seemed to really hurt her judging from how she responded.

But the other possible explanation is that she was just contacted by Bioware to put a disclaimer. I asked Sheryl earlier on Twitter about this stuff and I am not convinced at all by her response. It's not only that she didn't even acknowledge the page from official guide contradicting her statement - I understand she didn't make the guide but her answers looked like she pretended it didn't even exist - but she also gave really lazy answer to my question why if Suvi was always intended to be lesbian there's nothing to implicate she even likes women, which is unlike every other non-bisexual romance interest in this game, and that she doesn't even tell Scott who's hitting on her that she's not into men.

In her answer she picked only the Scott part, and all she said was "that was a choice I made for her character. That's all I'm going to say about it". That's the whole answer to the question why the only lesbian character is basically put into closet. So yeah, not very convincing.

So those statements make me even less believe the version that Suvi was always intended to be lesbian. I'd like to point out I don't blame Katy nor Sheryl. They didn't make any decisions in this regard and if their bosses told them to say untruth they couldn't do much about it.
And actually, the alternative I don't believe in would make them look much worse. If Suvi was always intended to be lesbian, then Katy really teased straight guys at the expense of lesbians, and Sheryl really put into closet and made invisible the only lesbian representation in this game to not hurt straight guys' feelings.

The only disappointment with the Suvi romance is the discovery that she and Sara are dog people. I mean it's a great DA easter egg attached to it but still dogs...

I know that might be controversial but I'm a cat person! 


We can but hope! So much you can do with Suvi (and... no not in that way... well maybe a little).

No. The ME2 guide doesn't claim there are same-sex relationships that then didn't appear in the game (or certainly not the edition I got in the UK). In the game, however, there are hints that Miranda and possibly Tali (in the emails at the end of the Lair of the Shadow Broker) could've been available to a FemShep. I've not played the game as BroShep (just didn't like Mark Meer's voice whereas Jennifer Hale is amazing!), so don't know if there's similar with m/m romances (I would assume so).

I thought, and this is a matter of perception, that Sheryl Chee was pretty clear about Suvi being written as a) F/F from the start (and the guide is wrong) and gay. I did think her 'that's all i'm going to say' and 'that's how I wrote her' was a little curt - I thought that was a fair question in the context of the other characters responses (but I've not seen wider context and whether she was getting a lot of stick from others about romances in ME:A). 

In some ways I don't think you (that's the royal you rather than you Miso9) can read much into her rejection of Scott (without revealing her sexuality) one way or another (and I'm not any of the people on twitter who responds to (I assume) your question (I thought some were quite rude)). I've seen and experienced rejection where people (or I've) mentioned their sexuality and sometimes when they've (or I've) not. There's also lots of reasons why Suvi might want to respond in this way (British politeness, private individual, she doesn't know Scott etc etc).

But I do wonder whether you are right and that Suvi is written as someone who's 'in the closet' or keeps their private life... well.. private. For example, there's an email, I think, were Suvi mentions being teased by Kallo about being happy and brushing it off (but then saying it's because of Sara). I'm pretty sure we've all known gay men and women who are closeted; out and proud; out, proud but private; or out but private. I'm cautious as you can always read too much into little asides like this but it would make sense.

It could be interesting line to develop - a private and shy individual (and at times I think Suvi comes across a bit like this) being in a relationship with a VERY prominent character and how they come to terms with it. I know it could be considered a bit of a cliche (more so for gay relationships but with straight ones as well) but could be well done (and also they've never really touched on this in Mass Effect universe - I mean both Shepherd and Ryder are very, very prominent). 

As an aside - I do think the ME:A guide is pretty terrible (badly laid out, lots of things that were clearly not checked out (for example, saying something is here when its randomised), not being consistent (this is the solution for x but in other places, same puzzle, this is what you need to solve it or just not giving the answer) and sometimes just wrong). This really raises question about Prima's and Bioware's QC'ing (well... given the flaws in ME:A we can possibly guess at Bioware's).  I do wonder how early a build Prima got.

Can someone who would know tell me if Bioware is planning on making Suvi Available for male Ryder to romance? I don't hate in any way,I just have high hopes that they will make this change. Suvi was my intended until I found out the hard way that it's not possible as of right now.

No offense but Scott already has 5 options, with three of them all having more content than Suvi. You guys can handle not being able to romance a lesbian, the way many lesbian players have had to deal with not being able to romance the straight women.

One thing you could do for the future though is contact Bioware, telling them that you want the future feminine female crewmembers to be straight and would be fine with the lesbian being a squadmate instead of a crewmember.

I don't want a bi v.s. gay v.s. lesbian v.s. straight war opinionated response, just wanted to know if anyone knew whether Suvi was going to be available for male Ryder in a future update.
