My favorite Warden to date and current canon. Also the only female, dwarf or warrior warden I've ever actually finished the game with.

She was hell-bent on snatching the crown out from between Bhelen's fingers just to spite him, and toying with the idea of taking it for herself. Then she went in search of Branka, saw the "glory" of the dwarven past, fought a broodmother and realized exactly what the darkspawn mean for women everywhere. Left the Deep Roads with a few new scars and a lot of perspective, totally committed to the Grey Warden mission and ashamed of her own selfish ambition. Still hates Bhelen's guts, but she can work with him, and adores her little nephew when she gets to see him.

Kicked Alistair to the Marches and recruited Loghain. Considered by Morrigan to be a sister in spirit, and her first real friend. On mutually respectful and appreciative terms with Sten and Loghain. Ordered Loghain to perform the Ritual for a multitude of reasons, a few of which she's ashamed of and a lot of which she isn't.

And that letter from the Warden in Inquisition? A smokescreen to cover for her actual operations in progress. Fifty-sixty years (20-30 before Joining, 30 after) is fairly optimistic for any professional warrior. Herahn won't be wasting a second of her precious fighting years looking for some imaginary cure to the Calling instead of doing her duty, working on getting rid of the darkspawn for good. With every smidgeon of influence she can muster, and every iota of power she can wring out of Avernus before he finally bites it. And while occasionally having very decadent sex with a certain Antivan elf, as well as other, less memorable paramours.

Freya Aeducan. Very ruthless, as anyone living with dwarven politics needs to be, but kind and loyal to those who aren't her enemies.

Since my canon Shepard was Caucasian, it was only fair that I have my canon warden as PoC IMO

I know that pain all too well. It took me ten campaigns to finally settle on the canon one. TEN!

But if you still haven't played your canon Warden, does that mean you were introduced to the series through DAI?

Hah I know that feeling.  I gave up, I now have 4 canon worlds.

I do have a canon Shep who is the ideal version of myself, but with Wardens I find the options so varied and numerous it's hard to choose. Plus the Warden who is most like myself is a little boring tbh.

So I went with 4 worlds with most of the choices, all focusing on different themes. Let's face it, I'm going to play them a lot anyway so why not have parallel worlds?

Could that work for you perhaps?

I have 4 as I said, but they're themed around the attitude of the protagonists.

1. A sensible chantry loving world where you do what's probably best.  So Connor dies because you trust the templars and don't like blood magic, my mage Hawke reluctantly backed Meredith even tho she was pro mage because it was the right thing to do.   Harrowmont, truce between elves and werewolves, and a Cass loving Qun IQ who believes in the Maker.  Also respecting authority.

2. A liberal mage loving world where you give them respect and lots of chances, and give anyone a chance no matter how low born.  The Chantry is evil though.   Save Connor, fight Meredith, believe in the Circle but it needs reforming etc etc

3. A world where magic is suspect, so dwarves all the way here as it's easy for them to distrust it.  Trust Templars, kill Wynne, Templar Hawke (who was aggressive and so so awesome, I thought I'd hate her but she was wonderful), then a dwarf IQ who wouldn't recruit Cole and sided with the templars.

4. That's a 'ehh why not' world where I do the selfish stuff, a quick playthrough.  Mage warden fucks everything up, is elf racist, ruins the urn, and is just awful.  He realises Morri played him and makes the US.  Then selfish bastard Hawke only wanting coin and Isabela, and a Dalish IQ who cares more about Solas and her people than the humans.

So that's how I did it, almost every choice is made across all 4 worlds ensuring the 'bad' things are sprinkled evenly for good reason.  They all have a solid basis for what they do, even if it breaks their hearts.  Two have Loghain, Alistair is King with my warden Queen, Warden, Drunk and King with Anora, 2 Hawkes survive, every companion dies once if they're able to and all characters rivalled once.

Committing to a roleplay, even if you cringe, is a very rewarding experience.  Shame it took me so long to realise it, but I can't just play the same character over and over again as I get bored.
