Has anyone done any playing around with Ansel? I have GTX 980 Ti in SLI so can't try it out while in the middle of a gaming session (and don't have a huge amount of gaming time to begin with - children/wife/life etc) and was wondering what people think of it so far? I've only played around with it enough to verify that it works. According to this thread, some effects don't work properly with super resolutions. I have reservations about purchasing the complete edition of Witcher 3. Is it worth playing? I haven't played it yet so the price is really nice for what you get so that's not a problem Is it worth your time for those you who played it? I got a hold to Witcher 2 360 disk and played it up to Flotsam hub. I got distracted by the mini games, lol. Dice, fist fights, arm wrestling. Making a good amount of coin. I'll likely get it.. seems too good to pass up for my RPG thirst. I guess the real question is.. should I finish 2? I am afraid that I'll suffer from series fatigue if that makes sense. I've already spoiled myself with reading up on 2 with the alternate paths, saving either or individual, Henselt, ect. Would I miss out on anything special by skipping 2? Does the experience really impact your outlook on Witcher 3? I haven't spoiled myself with 3 and I'd love to jump on it tomorrow when I buy it rather than see it on my shelf whilst playing 2. Lol. My gaming time is like 2 hours a day if I push it. Or more if I choose less sleep or long night with the next day off. Sorry for ranting about. Btw, if you recommend finishing W2, which path should I take Iorveth or Roche's path from your experience? If I do continue, I'll likely only personally complete one PT. Witcher 3 is significantly longer game than witcher 2 but imo thoroughly worth your time. Witcher 2 does not impact much on 3 at all. I would finish witcher 2, I preferred Iorveths path. Thanks for the reply. And I agree re: TW2. 3 is a far superior game, but I did enjoy 2. I am glad I got it on sale, though. If that means anything. You already have it, though, so may as well see how it all ends up.

I have reservations about purchasing the complete edition of Witcher 3. Is it worth playing? I haven't played it yet so the price is really nice for what you get so that's not a problem Simply put? Yes. Well, yes if you don't already own the games and expansions, because for those who already own the game it adds nothing new. I will say this, the expansions (hearts of stone in particular) has one of the best written villains' hands down in video game history but this is coming from an unabashed witcher fan.Is it worth your time for those you who played it? I got a hold to Witcher 2 360 disk and played it up to Flotsam hub. I got distracted by the mini games, lol. Dice, fist fights, arm wrestling. Making a good amount of coin. enjoyment is always worth the time in my opinion. However keep in mind that witcher 3 is a massive world so if you're a completionist or get distracted easily, it might cause some grief. Someone once mentioned that the best thing to do is shut off all the map markers. Although I've never tried that myself, it probably would've been better for me in the long run as I'm very OCD ...Also beware of gwent, it's very addicting once you catch on to it. I guess the real question is.. should I finish 2? I am afraid that I'll suffer from series fatigue if that makes sense. I've already spoiled myself with reading up on 2 with the alternate paths, saving either or individual, Henselt, ect. I feel that witcher 2 is a wonderful game and even superior in it's writing in some small ways (especially with the politics) but 3 has it's own strengths and is a more intimate story. 3 has one of the most beautiful father daughter story lines I've seen in gaming but that could just be me. I find Witcher 2 and 3 to be more like a drug tbh and even now that I'm done, I still crave for more.Would I miss out on anything special by skipping 2? Does the experience really impact your outlook on Witcher 3? I haven't spoiled myself with 3 and I'd love to jump on it tomorrow when I buy it rather than see it on my shelf whilst playing 2. Lol. My gaming time is like 2 hours a day if I push it. Or more if I choose less sleep or long night with the next day off. You would not miss out on much really, except for an amazing story and maybe a tiny bit of background on the wild hunt thing. Witcher 3 is pretty self contained and is more connected to the series of books than it is to Withcer 2 itself. A quick wiki read would suffice if you got too confused. Btw, if you recommend finishing W2, which path should I take Iorveth or Roche's path from your experience? If I do continue, I'll likely only personally complete one PT. Personally I prefer Roche's path and Roche himself even though I like Iorveth as well. Roche's path does fit better into witcher 3 though. The one thing the irritated me for my Iorveth save was that not much of what happened on that path was mentioned at all. I hope I helped but please keep in mind that these are just my opinions and I've been a huge fan since witcher 1. The truth is, you can't find out if you really like something unless you play it for yourself.

One crazy monkey, I appreciate the detailed response. The Witcher 2 has aged pretty well, imo. I went in with no hype or expectations on the series and came out pleasantly surprised with the 2nd in the series (360 game at that). That guy you can spare or kill in the beginning can give you an ability "strongback", so I am always reading about a quest before doing it to ensure certain results, lol. I'm very OCD about things. When I played DAI, every area was 100% done before moving on. I might be that way with W3 but if it's hubs are as great as Flotsam in W2, I am game even though it may be jarring to get use to. Btw, nothing wrong with being a Witcher fan giving opinions I might be a new recruit but I'm a fan now as well. Lol. Oddly, after the series ended.

Would I miss out on anything special by skipping 2? Does the experience really impact your outlook on The Witcher 3? I haven't spoiled myself with 3 and I'd love to jump on it tomorrow when I buy it rather than see it on my shelf whilst playing 2. The Witcher 2 doesn't really impact The Witcher 3, as said before. Something I would recommend, if you have the time, is to read The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny short story collections from the novel series. Or if you have the time and patience, the whole series if you haven't already. A lot of the plot and characters are first introduced in those stories rather than the first two games, so a bit of background in that regard is immensely helpful, at least to me. I started playing the series a month or so after The Witcher 3 first came out without any prior knowledge. Read the books and played it again and the connections and references are a lot more enjoyable, plus it's easier to follow the main plot in a way.

I don't think all of them have been translated into English yet... How's your Polish? Actually all except the last novel have been translated. There's a pretty good fan translation of the last novel, Lady of the Lake, floating around the Witcher subreddit somewhere. The quality was really good, aside from a few errors.

The Iorveth path was my favourite because Zoltan gets to really stand on his own. As characters though I really like both Iorveth and Roche.

That's pretty awesome for a collection of books. It looks like Lady of the Lake translation is slated for 2017! I heard about Yennifer in the novels and as some of you mentioned other characters. It seems odd to have a chance with a new sorceress when Triss has been your rock/partner for so long. As I'm reading on Witcher 2 and becoming involved with the lore, Yennifer plays a bigger role than I thought. O.O

I've played through W2:EE. Still didn't get to the griffon yet on W3 but I have to admit, this deserved GOTY when it was released. It upgraded everything. Graphics, combat, ect. It actually feels like an open world. Beautiful, too. Sidequest are funny and awesome as well. I have to admit, I almost missed this diamond.

I might verify completed sidequest on my game and compare available sidequest online so I don't miss anything. Thankfully, mutagens aren't permanently attached and I am loving the new ability progession. If it proves to stay on this great, I'll likely have a second playthrough with a different build. Also, I'm trying be a "good guy" by playing honest and not taking reward money so I'll be no holds barred and taking bribe money, ect on the second PT. I'm wondering when you get the 16 dlcs? Like armor, finishers, ect.. is it already installed? I have noticed finisher animations but nothing in storage or inventory.

Just be aware that when you get out of White Orchard the next map you see will likely be pretty daunting. Well worth sticking with it, though. As you said, a very worthy GoTY.

The armors like the Temerian and Nilfgaardian sets show up at specific vendors. The vendor that sells the Temerian set + matching saddle/blinders/saddlebags for Roach is in White Orchard. The pieces are fairly expensive relatively speaking for low level items, but they should be good enough for quite a while. The Wolf school witcher armor is a treasure hunt quest for all tiers of the schematics, and then you need to have them crafted at armor/weaponsmiths. I think the start of that treasure hunt gets added to your quests automatically once the DLC is installed, but it'll be a while before you can get to the area where those schematics are hidden. The other DLC armor sets can be purchased at: Nilfgaardian armor set + horse gear: quartermaster at Crow's Perch in Velen
Undvik armor set + horse gear: armorer at Kaer Trolde keep in Skellige And I'm also going to recommend disabling the alternate appearance DLC's from the main menu, though that's obviously a matter of personal taste. Without going into spoiler territory as to why since you haven't even met her yet if you're at White Orchard, at least Triss' alternate outfit is one that sticks out like a sore thumb due to story reasons and at least hurt my sense of immersion when I tried using it. The other two aren't that bad, but the default looks are still clearly superior IMO.

I have a question for those who have played TW3:
This would normally be my kind of game, but the combat in TW2 put me off. I liked it in the first game and played that one several times, but the second one removed the swordfighting sequence indicators which made it much more difficult. I don't like difficult combat in the first place, but I might've put up with it for the story were it not for the QTE boss fights. I find combat with quick-time events frustrating, since it usually needs several repeats, which defeats my motivation thoroughly, so I couldn't get beyond the Kayran fight in the second game.
So how is it in TW3? I'd really like to play it, since I like the world and its characters, but if it has difficult combat I can't cheat around it's probably not for me.

I share your view of TW2 combat. I managed to complete it twice, but never enjoyed the combat.
In TW3, the combat is similar but at the same time has a better flow - in my opinion - and allows you more choice in how you build Geralt and how you fight.
So, as someone who really disliked TW2 combat...I enjoyed TW3 combat.

So how is it in TW3? I'd really like to play it, since I like the world and its characters, but if it has difficult combat I can't cheat around it's probably not for me. TW3's combat is free of QTEs. The combat is still based on the combat that TW2 had, with no indicators and fast attacks, strong attacks, parry and dodge. However, they removed the part of TW2's combat that made it potentially frustrating: the effect that Geralt got slightly stunned whenever an opponent parried his attacks, which broke the flow and could get you killed when fighting several foes. This no longer happens - Geralt can move and attack much more fluently now, and Witcher signs have been improved to have more varied effects on combat. Unlike TW2, TW3 also goes back to the potion usage of TW1, where you could drink potions in mid-combat. TW2 required you to meditate and drink potions before the action started. This is no longer required and you can use your preferred alchemical products during battle once again.
