I read a blurb that a new Witcher book should be out by end of the year. Not sure of that is just Polish or also translated versions though. I never read any of the books and have heard the english translations are hard to get into. Is there any truth to that?

The first two books are anthologies and it can be bit hard to understand exactly what is happening or when things are taking place. Once the continuous story begins though, it is a pretty good read. Fyi, the story of Geralt meeting Yen (The Last Wish) is in one of the anthologies, with the same name.
Here are all 8 listed on Amazon:
Books 1 and 2 are anthologies, books 3-7 are the continuous story, and book 8 takes place at some point before book 3, I think. It's a stand-alone story not connected with the 'main' one.

I read a blurb that a new Witcher book should be out by end of the year. Not sure of that is just Polish or also translated versions though. Oh? I hadn't heard! Now I'm a little excited! While it does sound like the man wants to make some more money with side stories after the Netflix fame, I can't blame him for taking that opportunity. As long as the story is good, it's a win-win. The second 2013 short story collection was fun too. The English translations got better over time. The Last Wish is maybe a bit rough around the edges translation-wise but the books are all a joy to read and any fan of the games should read them. I got them all on Kindle through Amazon. Will make you appreciate W3 so much more, but maybe also make you criticize it a little for not depicting all characters right. I always thought Yen was way too bitchy in W3. She shouldn't be like this at that point. Also the pure focus on just the daddy daughter relationship was a bit disappointing. Ciri and Yen are super close in the novels and it's every bit as heart warming as the relationship with her savior Geralt. And that's not really captured in the game.
