www.trustedreviews.com/mass-effect-andromeda-review#6rwbSHi57Cq4cILG.99"The brilliant thing about Andromeda is that every mission on offer has weight – there’s no filler on offer – and this was only emphasised the deeper down the rabbit hole I tumbled. Bioware doesn’t pander either, so you’ll need to pay constant attention to every interaction to be up to speed with the delicate political situations across the galaxy." While I doubt this to be fully, 100% true,if it's even half true, and Bioware has managed to populate Andromeda with really fun and interesting side quests, then i don't care if they send me quest notifications in the mail. Another reviewers, an Italian one, said that The minor quests seem to have at least a narrative spin, and that the fetch quests present in DAI aren't present.

I actually LIKED those missions that triggered from overhearing conversations, and I'm glad they're back! If you don't like them, well, don't do em? Noone is forcing you to stick around to overhear some NPCs, the rewards were rarely truely exciting anyway. The only reason some people hate them is because they read something about them on some "full walkthrough" spoiler website and wouldn't know how to skip that part of the walkthrough even if their lives depended on it. Well, or some OCD kicking in I guess, but then they're probably better off figuring out how to play themselves instead of getting handheld through the game.
Seriously, if you can even half decently shoot stuff, then you can complete the game in YOUR OWN way, according to how your imaginary character actually would behave, rather than how some failed blogger tells you to play.(And if you ask me, then I'd say all bloggers are failures, but those writing walkthroughs even more so!)

Well, lack of EMS does lock out certain endings.
Having said that, I must agree that the eavesdropping part was always irrelevant. To get the necessary EMS without MP you need to have done most of the system scanning, and doing that will give you the items for these missions whether you've logged the quests or not.
Whether the scanning game itself was a good idea is debatable. It's the only thing keeping the. Galaxy Map from working like KotOR's, so I can see why they included it.
