You have never been able to change your face in a Mass Effect game, nor any other part of your CC. And I'll reiterate... that doesn't, and shouldn't, matter. Just because something has been done for however many years does not mean there isn't a better way to do said thing. Hell, bioware themselves have had it in dragon age. And it'd be easy to put in... THIS IS A GODDAMN SCI-FI GAME. Any number of crazy futuristic technology could be used to explain why the main character (and other npcs, should they so choose) could reconstruct their face to their liking or to change identities, etc. So... can't use that as the reason why. I'm no game developer but surely a mirror/machine/robot/whatever that unlocks the CC wouldn't take all that much resources to implement. Just rip the mirror from the black emporium for all I care and call it space magic. So what exactly is the reason that they wouldn't do this? Even Fallout 4 does it. It's a great tool for player convenience. Who wants to constantly start the game over and over to get the face they want??Surely I'm not the only one that wants an in game character editor? lol Don't click "Accept" until you have the face you want??

Of course, the trick is to have good and/or varied lighting options in the CC. maybe we just don't have the technology...

SalMasRac One problem with that: The lighting in the CC for most BioWare games sucks. The differences between what they look like in the lighting of the CC and in the actual game can be quite different. If the ME team sticks with the lighting scheme from the ME1, then we should be okay. I didn't notice really any difference between my Shep's CC appearance in ME1 versus her in-game appearance. I'm a little disappointed that we can't change or otherwise tweak the default faces. I like Sara's appearance, but I would make little changes like her nose and changing her eye/hair color. Shame that. Oh well.

Even in DA:I's utterly crap CC, I made quite beautiful things: So yeah, mine will look great. Yours though, probably not.

DAI's CC wasn't crap, overall. It allowed a lot more freedom in customizing the face then before. The crappy part was the hair/facial hairs options and quality.
On having the CC available in the whole game, I doubt they're going to include it in the vanilla game even if it gets delayed. At best we can hope for a dlc.

You'd spend a good 30 minutes in the CC, all the colours just right, the make up done right into the details. Looking smoking. Then you exited the Fade and it turned out you made a goddamn clown.

In my experience in every Bioware game custom faces always look better, IF you know what you are doing. Yeah I've made some nice faces on DAI so it's possible. I think you just need t obe prepared to pla yaround with the CC and just make small tweaks until you get something that looks good to you. It' swhat I tend to do on these games and will likely do on MEA as well.

Yeah it was just the hair that was bad which I put down to being Bioware's first game on the engine and trying to accomodate for 4 different species but that aside the CC was pretty solid. Also I think being in part trying to get things working on last gen as well didn't help. Hopefully with MEA being completely new gen will help things all round it looks like it might in any case as MEA does look like it's had improvements in this area. How big these improvements are though is anyone's guess because I don't think we'll truly know until the game is in our hands. But the trailers and things do look good to me for the most part.

Agreed when your comfortable with how the CC's work you can do that but when your new to these systems it's best to just do small tweaks. Because if you try to make too many changes at once without thinking you'll end up with something more ugly than beautiful Also before I played ME I wasn't familiar with CC's at all and making small tweaks made it easier for mre to learn how to use them without frustrating myself over it. In my first couple of playthrough's I stuck with default Shep but now I've had moer experience with CC's not just on ME but on DA as well I'm more used to them and how to make them work to produce the characters and looks I want.

Yeah, same here. My first poor Shep on console had a nose like a rhinoplasty gone horrible wrong because I hadn't messed with a CC for awhile. Due to some RL stuff, I switched back from PC to console, and I had gotten used to using save editors or face morphs. I think it's easier now that I know what I'm looking for. It also helps that I know which settings not to touch in a lot of CCs. For some options, like noses, I tend to pick one that fits the face and not mess with it much. Maybe make the nostrils bigger/smaller, but generally that's it. I've found that building an overall face shape is much easier. The CC in almost every game I've played tends to be more forgiving with brow, lips and cheek settings than they are with nose, jaw and chin settings.

How I make characters:
Strip everything. Hair, make up, tattoos, scars, whatever, it's all gone. Even females I initally make with a bald head. Then I sculpt the face till it looks perfect without hair. Add hair. Retouch face where necessary (which was way too much in DA:I cause of that hair) Add everything else. Retouch if necessary.
Pray.
Optional: restart game.

I have to at least touch every slider The only one that I won't touch at all is anything related to nose tip size or angle. I've never had the greatest luck making a character's nose look good. I have to rely on uploaded slider codes/videos, or just go with a decent default and tweak the size a bit.

You THINK you have the face you want from what you can see in that 1 lighting in the CC... but in the game, it actually doesn't look how you want.

That's what I always noticed as well. The lighting in the CC was so radically different from the lighting in game, that you'd get really odd shades and highlights all over the place (face), making noses look bigger, chins strangely pointed, carefully sculpted lips blow up like Jokers', eyes bulge (or suddenly seem hollow).. The list of how much a change of light affects appearance is really neverending. Save

So as we all remember default Male Shepard was modeled off a real like dude just like Scott and Sara will be. But in the old games if you made your own Shepard the looked nothing close to default Shepard. SO in Andromeda do you thing the character creator will alow us to make something that is on par with the defaults? Or will they look horrible in comparison since they are not a real face sculpt? They confirmed that all 9 custom presets available in CC are scans of real people this time (that you can then tweak/modify) just as defaults so in theory, they should look just as detailed and realistic as the defaults. But we'll see if it's actually gonna be the case.
