Though it'd still be nice to be able to make some good stuff myself, I'd like to do some sharing too. Anyway that aside it's gonna be fun to play around in the CC for sure!

I expect to use a preset, but maybe not the original if they did use real people for the models. My face making abilities are never that great.

I feel like more companies should just try and emulate Black Deserts CC. you can end up having stuff like this: and Obviously you wouldn't allow for a ton of makeup and hair dye but you can create some amazing things (and truly horrifying) in black desert.

I've never seen this, nor even heard of it; but it looks impressive. How well do you think its CC would translate to consoles?

Default doesn't look that good to begin with, so yes custom will look better. Beard + bald + tattoo + scar = a level above default. That's not even including taking the boy face and making it into man face.

I'm usually pretty good with character creators, but I know that there are people who are better; help is always good.

Yea, if I ever deviate from the defaults I'll just end up stealing faces from talented people on the internet. The only thing I'm worried about is what was hinted at as the "better than facecodes" thing. I remember seeing some tweet suggesting there would be some site you could go to that BioWare was building. Like a shareable DA:I Keep for faces. I didn't really like how DA:I Keep was a separate thing from the game, it was annoying not being able to quickly switch your profiles in-game when making a new character. I don't want to have to do that for faces.

DAI's CC wasn't crap, overall. It allowed a lot more freedom in customizing the face then before. The crappy part was the hair/facial hairs options and quality. On having the CC available in the whole game, I doubt they're going to include it in the vanilla game even if it gets delayed. At best we can hope for a dlc. Nah. The crappy part was the lighting. You'd spend a good 30 minutes in the CC, all the colours just right, the make up done right into the details. Looking smoking. Then you exited the Fade and it turned out you made a goddamn clown. Every time, they say the lighting in the CC will match the actual game. And every time, it doesn't. Here's hoping it's more representative this time. All the more reason to give us a post-start CC. Just have it be a surgeon or something. Even Fallout and Skyrim proposed that. Hopefully it's like DA:I and they save it for free DLC I suppose...

That's not even including taking the boy face and making it into man face. I'm not suggesting that " Beard + bald + tattoo + scar" automatically looks older than 23 years old (estimated age of Ryder); but I think much of the criticism of Scott not looking grown-up or manly is extremely subjective (I know. Duh.) He looks very much like a 23yo young man, to me. I think the issue is that we aren't used to playing characters that look this youthful, very often; at least not in games that require as much face time as MEA. Everyone ages differently, though. There are 15yo high school athletes that have more developed physiques, and at times faces, than some grown men. That being the case, I can see why some would think Scott has a baby face. It's likely influenced by personal experience, to a degree, in addition to simple preference.

I've never seen this, nor even heard of it; but it looks impressive. How well do you think its CC would translate to consoles? Basically if you don't use the sliders you pull and stretch the parts (best way I can describe it) it could work on consoles but obviously it would take a lot of time for console users to get it just right since there's a TON of sliders(you can manually just select the sliders). Add to the fact you can make each part asymmetrical, well, you get it. Now obviously I would say a ton of the eye, hair (the moving it around not length and colors), tattoos and body scaling should be scraped. That aside I'm not sure everyone would be a fan if they didn't allow using codes to create characters (which Black desert does). That second picture took me around ten hours to create (she started off looking like an Asian child >.> and I don't wana be a loli). You can see the character in action here

You often seem to be at the center of some petty, needless controversy. Why look to stir up divisions among a niche community?

For me the "better" element just came from the fact that you could clearly see more love went into the defaults wrt texture, the way animation work with their face etc. It wasn't that they were just naturally better looking. So in that regard I imagine default Scott and Sara might still be the "best" looking. I'm still changing them though.
And thank god for face-codes or whatever they're implementing, it was a huge pain in the ass finally making the perfect face in DAI and never being able to replicate it in future playthroughs.

As long as the character creation tool is good, it won't be too bad for custom characters, especially if all the presets are face scans rather than just the ones you can't edit.
Most of the limitations I see with custom Shepards in previous games have a lot to do with the character creator being not very good.

This time around, it's a social site that stores our faces and allows us to share them with others, if we wish. It seems like an excellent resource, as long as they maintain it for a very long time.

I just shake my head when people talk about this guy's "boring, white bread" appearance. I like the ladies, but I'm not blind. This is a really good-looking dude. Plus, he's not the typical, buzz-cut soldier-type we usually get as a lead. Maybe he looks too much like a young Nathan Drake? That's all I can come up with for the dry reception. Good thing we have a CC, right? Hopefully, it's a good one.

Most of the limitations I see with custom Shepards in previous games have a lot to do with the character creator being not very good. I think it's more a problem on the male side of the character creator in ME3. Like, if you don't do it right, Shepard looks a little too….prehistoric.
