you know...I've just installed BF1 free demo, to have the basic idea about how my old (I mean REALLY old, 2012) Lenovo Y500 gaming laptop might run (if at all) MEA...And...well, I'm 100% shocked. I've not tried MP, but SP runs sooo smoothly! Yes, I was on low preset (tried switching to medium with most things off too - did not get much worse), and it's not 100++. I'm yet to fraps the real numbers, but it was not laggy AT ALL, did not look like 30, I'd say - solid 45++FPS in 1080. And it's i5-3210, 2x650M 2gb SLI with 6gb ram we're talking about. (I know-I know, long past time to upgrade, not saying it's a good config, but life is life. Upgrade is not going to happen any soon.) Compared to the Dishonored 2 1.0 - it's SO much faster, I think that even DAI had it slightly worse than this back then... So, all I'm saying is that DICE know what good engine optimization looks like. If they had anything to say or do about it in MEA - I'm a happy person. I was afraid that I might not even run it. Like, 10 FPS on 'low'. I'd suggest people trying out the BF1 demo as a kind of benchmark, even if you don't play BF games ( I don't). It's fre for the Origin Access users, I guess. And it would give you some idea baout how modern FrostBite game runs on your rig.

They probably wrote 30 FPS because the recommended setup can't do stable 60 FPS or even go near it. It can't do stable 60 FPS in DAI either on High (the recommended spec are exactly my pc specs, so I know).

Hilarious. So my 1060 GTX looks incapable of significantly out-performing the PS4 version? How does that even make sense?

So, DirectX11 ... therefore DirectX12 isn't going to improve anything in MEA ? i'm fine with that, i'm on Win7 .
Has anyone used Vulkan on Win7 ? just curious.

Sounds about right to me actually. On my GTX 1070 DAI puts out 40-60fps when fully maxed.
It's petty ridiculous what's going on with PC gaming these days. I'm about to buy a PS4 for Horizon, a game that looks way better than Tomb Raider on my 1500€ PC...Tomb Raider dipping into the 30s when ALMOST maxes out. Yup. Great stuff...
After I caved in and watched the Peebee mission video I'm so disgusted with the childish tone of the game that I'll borrow the console copy from a coworker eventually.
If it wasn't for modding I'd regret switching to PC four years ago.

Those specs leaves me out. I'm just shy on the CPU and graphics card with the min specs.
For now, no thanks EA, I'm not about to upgrade my system to play a digital game. I'll play the waiting game.
BTW, fellas, LOW settings = barbie/Ken hair.

So I'm a little curious. In anticipation towards this game how much did you guys upgrade on your pc? I went a little overboard myself, I planned to just upgrade my cpu but got a good deal on a mB and then bought a 22 inch monitor and a gti 1050 ti oc aswell. I'm sure it will be worth it when the game is out

For 200 bucks? Hell, yeah! And I'm fine with 30 fps even on PC. I'll take pretty graphics over fps any day. Just saying that those who want 60 fps in MEA on Ultra and all other bling bling enabled WILL have to buy a GTX 1070 (1080p) or 1080 (1440p or up). And THAT is ridiculous.

Not gonna argue your DAI performance but I easily get above 60 fps @ 1080p on ultra settings with my 1060 (albeit overclocked but still). And I hit around the same on max settings in Tomb Raider. There has to be another explanation for your performance numbers in those games. Still, we have no idea how MEA will perform.

For the AMD DIY hardware platform guy, the bad news is that the good AM4 mobos are out of stock, due to the unexpected heavy demand for the Ryzen CPU. The good news is that the manufacturers will have some additional time to tweak their mobos/bios to support win 7 installations ( I hope) and correct any other hiccups.

I'll have spent about 2750 euro to get my rig ready for ME-A by the time it goes live. (i7 7700K, 16gb DDR4 3000mhz, 1tb 960 Pro NVME, just missing the Strix 1080Ti to go with it)
If it doesn't blow my mind in 1440p I will go bonkers.

That take about 30% off, I believe. But glad to hear the 1060 (I assume 6GB?) can do the trick for 1080p. Andromeda will PROBABLY be a little bit more demanding, so a rock solid 60 fps would then require a 1070 after all for FULLY maxing the game. But it's not like going all out in the settings is a smart thing to do. Sacrificing 10 fps for VXAO in Rise of the Tomb Raider is just nonsensical. Same with SSAA.

For anyone hoping for proper Ultrawide (21:9) or Eyefinity/Vision Surround (including proper HUD scaling), Bioware is mum so far.

I've got an Intel 6850K (six cores @ 3.6Ghz each core), 32GB DDR4 from GSkill @ 2400Mhz (in quad channel configuration), a 512mb Samsung M.2 w/ NVMe, a new Crucial MX300 1TB SSD (which I'm going to use for storage), a new GTX 1080FTW v.2 from EVGA, a Corsair H80i v.2 Liq. Cooler (which keeps my CPU running no hotter than 25 degrees C even under load; partially because my room is an icebox), an 850Watt P2 80+Platinum PSU (from EVGA) and my monitor is the 27SD850T from Samsung (was originally 799.99...I bought it for 449.00) 27-inches, 4ms response time and a res of 1440p.)....I'm hoping with all my fingers and toes crossed that I will be able to get near or equal to the performance that I get in DAI.
In DAI I get a stable 140 (sometimes as high as 165) fps with all settings on Ultra and/or Fade-Touched with v-sync off. Oddly though, my monitor is only a 60hz monitor (59.5 hz actually). But I get no screen tearing, texture popping or anything else during game play. The only time I get very minor tears is during the cut-scenes, but it doesn't happen in every cut-scene, and they're so small I don't even notice them all the time. I have to really LOOK. Not like other games I used to play where it was this HUGE ugly line right across my screen that reminded me of a VHS tape that had lost its tracking. But these tears when they happen they're so small and brief....It doesn't even bother me.
Anyways....I'm really excited about 'Andromeda'. I've tried to go dark, but I just can't do it. I really want to be able to play it asap. As in, right now. If I can reach anywhere from 90 to 110 FPS on Ultra and all the fancy settings maxed out I will be more than happy. But I"ve got another 12 days and counting.....Too bad it's not releasing over March Break....

No console game in the last ten years has been able to run at anything higher than what would be Medium on PC. If people are seriously expecting Andromeda to be different, well, they deserve to be disappointed.

If people are seriously expecting Andromeda to be different, well, they deserve to be disappointed. That's not really true at all and is a big oversimplification .... The console versions typically run the gamut in terms of settings from lower than low to high, to matching in between, to being half one setting and half another or not lining up with any preset, and this can all change from area to area/map to map.

Meh. I can run the game on medium setting just fine. That's good enough for me. I'm trying to wait until all the Ryzen series (7, 5 and 3) are all released before I build a new rig. I'm definitely won't be building a new rig for one game. I thought about it and......... nope.
