Yeah when it comes to game development, employees tend to be under strict NDAs that say they can't talk about basically anything which leads to the incredibly vague Twitter statements of "worked on awesome stuff today!" and nothing else. Marketing on this one seems to want to do closer to what Bethesda did with Fallout 4 where they say almost nothing until much closer to launch. People have also said it's because EA wants to focus on their currently incoming releases like Titanfall 2 and Battlefield One (unless I misremember) and then they'll begin their real marketing push for Mass Effect Andromeda. Also, check out Mark Darrah's twitter (know he's not on the Mass Effect games but he is a forefigure at BioWare) and he's made a long list of reasons why they might not be able to or want to answer certain questions. Among them he mentions the one you talked about; contractual obligation, and he also mentions other stuff like wanting to avoid stirring a pot (I'm interpreting) or misguiding people (and c'mon, of course they're cautious after all the backlash they've gotten in recent years) and sometimes he also admits they simply won't know the answer people want. But it's interesting enough to see what he considers the general rule of thumb for how they interact with people when it comes to revealing stuff or keeping it close to the chest.

I mean at the end of the day making a game isn't a business, you can treat it like one sure, but it's about kind of intense personal expression and creative endeavor....
The problem I see is that modern Bioware doesn't have anything they want to say, so they are just dragging their feet and I see them creating MEA out of some self-contrived "obligation" to a fanbase that hardly even hovers near them anymore.
What's MEA about? Why are they making it? Previous Bioware games were kind of about steadfast heroism, and like an affirmation of fundamental virtues of life, but like... what was Dragon Age Inquisition about? It seemed to me it didn't have a message, it just was about how funny the next person could be, and stuff like that. That's more for the Sopranos TV crowd and stuff like that.
The remainder seems kind of geeky but their vision of cool is like a neat fan art someone made of female shepard... their vision of 'social justice' is kind of sifting through the trending points and saying so and so "has a point."
If you don't even know why you are doing something, the odds of it coming to a potent conclusion are quite slim.
I think in essence Bioware is in a crisis artistically (I can't say financially, maybe they're better than ever), the games they make now in no way resemble the games they made then. Many people will say otherwise, they are wrong, it's simple, they are flat, out, wrong. There is such a thing as simply being wrong, and reality bores out the consequences of that fact, regardless of what one person has to say about it.
It doesn't matter what the reason given is, to be honest, NDAs, timing, funds, all wrong, there is only one answer, which is the one I have given, and it will make it's presence known, regardless of what anyone has to say about it.
In this case, the consequences are simply devs not really saying much, or showing much, because I don't think they, in all honesty, know what they want to say, or what they have to say, is perhaps something they are aware many people don't care to hear.
I'm not a naysayer or doomsayer, nor one to wish a negative outcome, but I believe I can say... with 100% certainty... that artistically Bioware is no longer majorly relevant, as far as games go. Their monetary, lingering fan support, and even portions of artistic impact will matter, and other forms of relevance will be what they are, but quite simply, there are other game companies that produce more engaging experiences artistically, and there is zero indication that Bioware can reverse the trend in terms of what they've made.
At some point, I imagine I will simply abandon them as a fan, and treat them simply as another unit which may produce something I like, and which is entitled to that treatment, but which no longer "sticks in my brain" so to speak.
I can't say as to the people I've met and all that, of course, that has value, but it will be a separate thing, Bioware itself will be like a sibling that just died or something.
I don't know what will be done when people tend to ultimately appreciate Bioware's artistic legacy, but my sense is whatever the outcome of that, it will have little to do with Bioware itself, or the penumbra of community around them, when the time comes.

After reading the entire thread, a like wasn't enough, as apparently people still don't get it. An NDA is a legally binding contract, that if violated, pits you (the individual, IE: a game dev, or me a lighting tech) against a massive corporation (in their case EA, mine Disney/Marvel or any other corp I work for) in a legal battle. That is a guaranteed lose, in a big way. Silence sucks for fans, but is required from those behind the scenes, on any form of multimedia entertainment.

*snip* (so theirs "target players" from CoD or others Battlefields will not be too tired reading someting longer than sms....*) That kind of statement always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Especially when you consider the RPG elements of the ME trilogy had dialogue wheels that were roughly one word options leading to another with less than ten. So deep.

Well NDA's are to protect a compagnies product foremost but maybe also to protect the devs. In this day and age social media is also used to berate in gang style. This in detriment to the reciever who's life have come unhinged because of it.
