It's been said before, in one form or another. Here, though, directly from the horses mouth (ie: in this case from Sean Murray from No Mans Sky).
Taken from an article in PCGAMESN.COM updated Aug 12, 2016.

Murray also touched on why the PC version has had so little chatter from Hello Games, explaining that “Whenever devs are tight-lipped, it's normally just because they literally, legally, can't talk about a thing. Man, you would surprised how wrapped up most devs are in contracts and nonesense. Often for instance lots of devs will have a clause that says ‘you literally can't say the name of platform X.’” You’ll note Murray doesn’t talk specifically about why he had to be silent on PC, but we expect you can read between the lines.

So, if the little people can't talk, then it must be a question of marketing / timing strategies (imo), why management also stays silent.

Yeah when it comes to game development, employees tend to be under strict NDAs that say they can't talk about basically anything which leads to the incredibly vague Twitter statements of "worked on awesome stuff today!" and nothing else.

Marketing on this one seems to want to do closer to what Bethesda did with Fallout 4 where they say almost nothing until much closer to launch.

Maybe they've now realized that saying/showing the game will have/be X, and then failing to deliver on the expectations they created leads to irritated players? It makes far more sense to me to stay quiet till they have a solid idea of what will actually be delivered, although the marketing will probably still largely be a bunch of playing to emotions instead of presenting what the game experience is like.
