I think your fears are unwarranted OP. If EA pulled that they'd hemorrhage their player-base faster than you could say self-destruction.

Origin actually isn't that bad. Most people dont like it simply because its another program you have to install but they offer a good selection of games, a decent subscription program and so far I've had no serious issues with the interface. Uplay is worse than Origin in those regards.
But yeah, I dont see them removing peoples games randomly. That would go downhill for them very quickly.

If I have to get a DRM copy of a game, I usually buy at the main distributer or developer. ARMA copies at Bohemia Interactive (no ARMA3 cuz its a Steam-Game*), Dragon Age at EA, Mass Effect at EA. I also first bought the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate at Steam, but it is crappy packaged. DLC not included and you have to hope Bioware keeps the offline downloads up. No support, they link to EA for support and EA does only support their Origin version. The only other proper copy of Dragon Age Origins is available at GOG.com. p.s. and I agree the Origin support is really good. When DAI came out and I couldn't play it in German because they check the location and only that language is available or optional English, they put another German only copy into my account *with that I mean it is so heavily integrated into Steam you couldn't even run it without. Not just mods, multiplayer and drm.

The tech person just put another copy of the game at my account and problem solved. I actualy spent more time in the "waiting line" (online) than talking with the guy/girl who solved the issue. Origin interface could be better but they aren't that bad as some people believe. There is no reason to fear them doing this OP.

Steam users have reported losing games from there digital library as well.
You can easily contact support for any issues or to get games restored to your account.
Hell customer support is where Origin destroys Steam as you can actually talk to an official support person live within 5 - 15 minutes for any issues.
I've used Origin since pretty much day 1 and have never had an issue.

As far as I am aware the EULA you agree to with game etc will never stand up against comsumer rights in the EU, they are basically unenforcable.
I don't know what it is like over in the colonies, especially under your brave new world of an administration; but I suspect it is going to be great. The best. It'll be amazing, the greatest. You won't believe how great it'll be, once Putin has agreed to let me do it.

EA is never going to remove the ability to play your games unless you give them a reason. And even then it has to be an extremely huge offence.
While they have the right to legally do it, they simply won't. It would be a gigantic shitstorm and bad PR.
Steam is in the same boat. Heck, they have removed certain games from their store but you can still download and play them.

During a transfer of some Sims games the EA assistant told me that yes, EA does remove games from your library, but that would mean not playing them for 5 or 10 years. That's why it tracks when you log in and the last time you played.

I did find one article were someone reported that a game went missing but it was restored by Origin customer support and another were it was just a glitch that was fixed by clearing the system cache. I have a game it says I haven't played since 2012 but it is still there.

Just ask EA support. They will explain it.

I understand that is what a support person told you, but with other companies when using their low level support have said things that they have misunderstood in the past too. For EA has gone on the record publicly they won't remove games. Heck I bought Mass Effect 1 on the old EA Store and it is still available to me to download if I want it and I haven't played it in years.

I could see account inactivity causing that with both Steam and Origin because the assumption could be that an individual is deceased.

That's why they partly keep track of activity. I was still waking up earlier and didn't explain that properly lol but yeah if you ignore your account, then the games will go after 5/10 years. Someone else got it wrong I guess or misunderstood and thought it was the games even if you log in, but no they just don't want to remove really old accounts with unused games taking up space.

that does not sound reassuring considering that i am conflicted on whether to buy MEA or not beside when has Valve ever put stocks on the stock market? Valve i trust but EA is to me a bit more suspicous and therefore must be treated with caution That's the most inane and fallacious logic I've come across in weeks. That literally makes no sense. Valve is just as beholden to the market as EA. Considering their severe lack of customer service and chaotic and wild internal structure, you could be banned from Valve, cut off from your games, and then turn around and have no one to talk to in order to get the situation immediately rectified. EA has customer support at the very least, so if something goes wrong, there's actual people to talk to. If you say so

I bought RA3 before Origin existed and linked it to my old EA account to get a special helmet in Warhammer Online. They had this DRM to call home and activate the local copy. That was much worse than using the Origin client, because you were sitting on your DVD and couldn't use it or call someone via phone in the US.
I was wondering that RA3 code didn't make it into my current Origin (still that useless DVD in my shelf). The normal redeem method in Origin failed as the code was already registered. 10min chat, attached a picture of the DVD to my case and now I have it in my Origin account as well.

Never had a problem with Origin personally, despite all the negativity that gets thrown its way. It's been just as smooth (and sometimes smoother) than Steam but maybe that's just my experience. Can't speak for everyone.

There are precedents against EULAs, but those were about"shrink-wrap" licenses. Those wouldn't apply to a game purchased on Origin, since you have to agree to the EULA before executing the purchase.

A quick Google brings up things like this: www.destructoid.com/eu-court-rejects-eulas-says-digital-games-can-be-resold-230641.phtmlI suspect that in the states corporations have much more power though.
