Ok I remember hearing somewhere that when choosing New Game+ we can choose to switch out Ryder's sex. So if you played Sara you can choose to play Scott in NG+. Is this true? And if it is will we be able to take Sara and Scott back into Character Creation or are we stuck with what we created first time around? Would be important to know for people that are OCD about Character creation like I am.

It'll be especially useful for the Insanity trophy, adding on: will we also be able to keep our loot? Yeah, the character progression will make Insanity much easier. No one asked specifically about all of the loot. I suspect that our gear, at least, will carry over to NG+. When talking about Insanity difficulty, Ian said that enemies are designed with well developed powers and equipment in mind. That seems to suggest that NG+ might've been one valid strategy that they had in mind.

It'll be especially useful for the Insanity trophy, adding on: will we also be able to keep our loot? Considering it's NG+, I'm assuming we'll be able to keep some aspects of our character. Since this game is using so many systems from ME1, exclusively, they may even just allow us to keep all of our gear. I just wish BioWare also did NG+ with Dragon Age. It's such an amazing feature that gives these games far more replay value, in my opinion. Especially since there will be differences based on the gender since the other is a sibling, it should be interesting to see a different perspective.

That's awesome. I never played NG+ in the trilogy because I wanted to be able to roll a completely new character. Having this flexibility is a nice surprise.

Why is it brilliant and unexpected? We had the exact same option in Mass Effect 3, new Game+ and the ability to make a new Shepard, sex swap included.

I don't think I would have liked NG+ in Dragon Age: Inquisition for I didn't care for it in Mass Effect 1 either which I think would have been similar. Now if Dragon Age: Inquisition worked like Mass Effect 2 and beyond where all you are doing is unlocking skills it would be something else entirely, but since there are game play consequences based on your character levels such as an areas difficulty. At least BioWare created the Golden Nug to allow you to copy a few things between saves such as crafting recipes, Skyhold decorations, mounts, and nursery seeds. Now it would have been better if we could also purchase amulets of power or something to increase our skills and then I think it would function exactly the same as Mass Effect.

What was wrong with NG+ in ME1? It was absolutely mandatory if you wanted to acquire the best gear in the game and beat the game on Insanity difficulty. I enjoyed it and NG+ gave the game a ridiculous amount of replay value. I think I played through ME1 three times before I fully completed the entirety of the game. Whereas with DAI, I had no motivation whatsoever to play it again, partially because there was no NG+.

The balance of Mass Effect 1 never felt right for me in NG+ after playing through once if you weren't at max level, but it was well done for a first try it just was missing something for me to really enjoy it. Now it could have also been other factors of the game such as a few frustrating planets to drive on or the combat system too.

Wait, what? Yeah, of course you needed NG+ to get lo level 60 since there just ain't enough XP in the game without doing that, and even levelled to the mid-50s it's unlikely that you'll get more than a couple of the best possible items to drop before you've used up the game. But beating ME1 on Insanity was fairly trivial, whether you were NG+ing or not. (Though, honestly, I don't think I got off of Eden Prime the only time I ever tried NG+.)

You know, I thought I was going to feel that way myself -- ME1's zero-to-hero progression is idiotic and the game economy makes no sense at all, so making them both go away struck me as a good solution. Turns out I like progression more than I thought I did, I guess. It doesn't help that level 35 and level 55 gameplay are pretty much identical.

At a low level and with crap gear, there's nothing "trivial" about Insanity. You aren't going to do any damage and you'll be sitting there for days shooting at enemies. Don't even get me started on krogan... Yeah... no. Leveling up and getting quality gear was mandatory for Insanity to not be incredibly tedious.
