Both Ryders have had military training so I'll be going combat mixed with tech. But more heavily into tech as I am going for an engineer type character for my FemRyder.
Then I'll probably have a pure biotics run.
If I ever play DudeRyder, I'll probably go pure combat. But I don't he'll get a playthrough unless Cora is only a male option for romance.

Vanguard was my fav in the OT, but here unless the vanguard has more interesting bonuses than melee hits restore shields I'll be making some sort of combat adept.
Like, buffing up assault rifles to strip defenses and my own prime + detonate combo to make use of those biotic echoes.
Or perhaps 2 squaddies both with primers and me being the detonator like I did in DA 2/3 and ME 2/3
Either way, I'm really glad they opened things up. Now I don't HAVE to take a certain class just for one ability I loved (biotic charge).

The charging Vanguard still looks ridiculously powerful, with some of the options we've seen and about which we've read. There really are lots of great builds to be experienced, though. It's going to be fun to experience more than one in a single playthrough.

I chose pure combat since I will be going for a soldier build for my first playthrough. For my 2nd, 3rd and later playthroughs, I will choose whatever for that playthrough

For my 2nd, 3rd and later playthroughs, I will choose whatever for that playthrough Some of those new Combat skills... Do you think you will grab some of the passives from the other trees with all those extra skill points? Team Support to boost your team's performance; or Barrier to enhance your kinetic barrier, since Ryder's a biotic, regardless? One of the best "Soldier" builds I keep imagining playing has skills from all three trees-- mostly passives from Tech and Biotics, along with Backlash. Crazy effective.

Separate cooldowns for abilities will open up things too I feel, instead of it being on the spammy side for your go to 1 or 2 powers. So hopefully its still strong...but not one trick pony so to speak. Maybe something like backlash can be a fallback if you get into a bad situation after charging. The possibilities man, I'm so looking forward to this game!

The possibilities man, I'm so looking forward to this game! One basic Vanguard build that springs to mind is Backlash + Biotic Charge + Lance for your actives. Lance can be specced to deplete your barrier, in lieu of a cooldown. That's crazy, considering Charge restores your barrier. You'll have Backlash for when the others are on cooldown, or when in gunplay. Annihilation would be a fun choice, too. There are lots of possibilities. I can't decide between an aggressive Adept concept; a well-rounded Infiltrator; or Soldier with defensives and/or passives from all trees. Even an engineer, my least favorite build in the OT, looks incredible in this game.

Since my two main Shepards were tech/combat and biotics/combat, I plan on focusing on a more tech/biotics build this time around, at least for Bro!Ryder. When I do a Sis!Ryder play, I'll go with whatever feels right. Maybe a rough balance.

I'm probably going to go with a mixture of biotic and tech powers, with enough combat skills to get really good with a sniper rifle because I really love sniping.

I'll certainly end up going pure tech. I love the engineer class too much. My only concern is how close range the tech skills we've seen are. I'm not sure if long range immolate/cryo blast are just out.

My favorite class in the trilogy was Vanguard so for my first playthrough i think i will go for Biotics+Combat.

I feel like Fry when trying to decide between Tech and Biotics. I think a small dip into combat will be an essential build for either. Spec into your weapon class of choice a little, and then hit up some of those consumable combat powers like omni-grenade and mine for an emergency Favorite to switch to. The consumable are usable immediately on switch, no cool-down. Just switch and spam for those "oh shit" moments.

I'm not sure if long range immolate/cryo blast are just out. In the profile vid when they show a quick clip of Cora detonation a cryo combo, it looked like some kind of range upgrade had been chosen. That clip definitely had far more range than other clips of the cryobeam power we've seen.

Charge, Nova and Annihilation looks too delicious to pass up. I'm waiting to see what the Vanguard profile bonuses are before choosing between it or Adept Until you see that 100% incease on your Charge thanks to Annihilation. Annihilation will probably only thrive in a build that is designed around. Low cool-down detonator like throw and then the Explorer profile for that biotic blink mobility increase.

There is a very high possibility that a heavy, high Burst DPS weapon, modified with a ME1 heat sink and turned it into a pair on a Soldier profile specced for weapon damage will become the most lethal class. Just switch to your duplicate every time their is an overheat and now you have sustained burst DPS. I am very doubtful that Bioware would think to balance something like this. It is usually the type of thing that gets overlooked by devs.

Will be mostly investing into Tech. I really love playing as the Engineer class in the trilogy, especially as a Shotgun Engineer. Remnant VI along with Assault Turret and Flamethrower/Cryo Beam sounds amazing!

I voted for biotics/combat but I really don't know. I rarely ever used any of my powers in the original trilogy other then tech armor/barrier/defense matrix. My play style was basically maxing up my defensive powers so that i could basically walk out in the open, get shot at and still kill the enemies before they could take me down.

I don't really know why we have to choose... Because of the whole profile thing and plethora of skills, you can switch between any build at any time.
I'm definitely going explorer as a main class (a bit of everything topped of with some sweet sweet biotic blink). I'll have a vanguard profile as well, and a soldier profile, and an infiltrator.

Probably gonna roll with Biotic/combat. It looks like there is no variant on the Phoenix VG ( I will miss the Biotic whips)..... , but i like how Biotic Charge looks to have a devastating effect. I will definitely be using that and will be using combat/soldier characteristics mixed in. And if this game is anything like ME3, I might be able to findarmor and helmets that might look similar to my Phoenix VG....

The results are VERY interesting! I wonder if this is reflective of MET's preferences as well. I knew Vanguard was ridiculously popular....but I never figured out Sentinel would be right behind it. I thought I was the only one rocking tech armor. Infiltrator at a decent third, nice, nice. I'm surprised at Soldier profile being so low. Based on a lot of things I've heard, the Soldier was the most popular profile in the Trilogy. Interesting
