I'm confused why people are calling SAM's guidance as hand-holding. In previous games, the teammates did the same thing. This time it's your AI.
I mean really, how can you complain about being forced to scan while being annoyed at being told when to scan for important events?
Always with the conflicting opinions lol
---
In any case I was a bit disappointed by PB's AI, although Drack seemed better for some reason. Perhaps this is something that was tuned post-media release.
Everything else looks great. Combat looks fun!

Pre order cancelled, I could ingore the lack of realistic animation, endless pew pew pew and mediocre banter, but an ARPG without showing any elements of back story, character interaction and event interesting quest? It is nonsense. This is a loyalty quest FFS, it suppose to hilight the relationship between PC and their partners. Maybe, just maybe, they don't want to spoil it and wait for the game to release so you discover these things for yourself? Just a thought............................ Then you don't pick a character loyalty mission. You pick a "Go kill that asshole" or "Go find the blueprints" style sidequest. People clicking on a loyalty mission expect to see how you interact with your squadmate, some of their story and how relationships are handled in the game. You allow this to be released this way for one of two reasons likely 1) the marketing team is like "idk lol" or 2) they really don't have a lot of material to really show so they're making due with what they have "finished"

It wasn't only SAM but Peebee as well, I know the previous trilogy did have this "hand holding" but it was more obvious I guess the more I see the demo. Usually in the trilogy, you'd have one companion speak up, not the both. Also I like how Ryder was skipping over the rocks while running, that was good animation I thought and the climbing, was pretty cool.

I'm confused why people are calling SAM's guidance as hand-holding. It's not just that. Everything was repeated and paraphrased in the simplest language possible, as if they are talking to retarded children. The banter between Peebee and her "rival" sounded cringe worthy as hell.

Because after every video that has come out in the last month or so we get a "THAT ISN'T REPRESENTATIVE OF THE FINAL GAME. THATS LIKE TOTALLY PRE-ALPHA FOOTAGE AND WE'RE STILL POLISHING IT. SO MUCH POLISH" disclaimer. A month away and we're being told "That's totally way old and not right. Don't worry. We're working to polish it up" which means that there are sections in worse shape than what we've seen. Also, I know a few people on the marketing team, and I feel they're smarter than option 1. Plus with EA and whoever they work with at an outside agency wouldn't be that dumb

Bioware already said time and time again that they won't be spoiling the story, so complaining over it N times won't change that fact. The only reason they showed this especific mission was because this is the same that they presented previously during the Nvidia conference.

That'll show off some gameplay footage, because gameplay is all there is in multiplayer. Which is why it won't happen.

Everything was repeated and paraphrased in the simplest language possible, as if they are talking to retarded children. Given that we're dealing with non-linear settings now, it makes sense to give notice regarding events in the immediate vicinity. This particular instance seemed to have a lot of interaction so perhaps this is just a case of being concentrated relative to zone size.

Then none of the big features were in the game. Then people asked "Where did that feature go?" and got "It was never part of the game. What are you talking about? Nope. Never existed" That's false. They said they had to cut the keep system and that the Crestwood plot was rewritten and redone.

It is nonsense. This is a loyalty quest FFS, it suppose to hilight the relationship between PC and their partners. OMG! They heavily edited the beginning to avoid spoilers. Then I bought the game, after being at one of the demos and talking to the panel there, and got about half the stuff they told us they were putting in the game. Fully customizable Inquisition colours and troops, armor dyes (that got patched it well after release), the save/destroy/etc decision system, decisions that mattered, keeps functioning more than a tent. So maybe its better they've really shown nothing, but it still isn't confidence inspiring.

Im kinda starting to see why bioware kept us so long without videos. Everytime they release a video, they spawn this huge hate crowd around here going
Now whether that is because of the mediocrity of the game or some people just looking for anything they can nitpick and hate, well see.
Id spare my hate, AFTER the game has been released and weve had time to explore it.

The keep system was, as I said, cut down and changed. They stated that. But yeah, they did promise features that weren't in with little explanation. DAI's experience is certainly a reason why we saw little and that they didn't show much of the features of the game, to avoid those issues. But I think they went too far in the opposite direction.

Im kinda starting to see why bioware kept us so long without videos. Everytime they release a video, they spawn this huge hate crowd around here going Because all they show is more or less carefully edited pre-release footage that's not really indicative of the final product, and that three weeks before launch. I know it has been beaten to death by now, but TW3 had two good, long looks out months before release that showed questing, dialogue, the character system, basically every aspect of the game... it was representative. The vids BW puts out are not...

I must have missed that because I just remember a bunch of nothing about it. I was just referring to the leaked footage. Some of the things you said where mentioned but not shown. The most frustrating part of DAI's experience is that we got hammered with the message "We learned from our overpromising mistakes! You won't see us overpromise a damn thing!" I honestly don't feel they've gone the other way too intentionally. I feel like they just don't have tons to show and are making due with what they've managed to put together.

Im kinda starting to see why bioware kept us so long without videos. Everytime they release a video, they spawn this huge hate crowd around here going Now whether that is because of the mediocrity of the game or some people just looking for anything they can nitpick and hate, well see. Id spare my hate, AFTER the game has been released and weve had time to explore it. I think both might be true, but the way they presented the quest with cuts of dialogues and a not well played gameplay (although he seemed a bit justified for that) didn't help. OMG! They heavily edited the beginning to avoid spoilers. Basically they cut pretty much all dialog. And the mission footage ends somehwere in the middle of the quest. Seriously, some poeple.... Yup, what's the point to hilight a loyalty quest without any context of loyalty? Seriously, some people... I don't think the point was much to show a loyalty quest, but show several minutes of the game. Not the greatest idea since a lot of people want to see more of the dialogue system.
